Renaissance Samara4.0 out of 5.0

I don't know what to say, really. Lately the quality of the hotel is not getting better, despite that the completion is getting harder in Samara.today is the worse, WIFI not working, no restaurant in the hotel which is far from the center and no taxi front of the hotel, one small bottle of Perrier costs 300 ruble, 5 euro.most of the time renaissance hotels shows higher standards in the world. Seriously thinking about staying in another place next time. Really disappointed.
I have stayed here quite a few times, but this last week was a mix of the usual positives, but a lot of hassle. The hotel is comfortable and nicely kept, with good sized rooms, however this time a lot seemed difficult. Some of the times I asked staff for advice they were really helpful, but then on other days everything seemed confused; regarding the restaurant on the top floor, we were told conflicting things about it being open or not, and several nights when we tried to get taxis via the front desk it seemed to cause trouble (despite it being the Russian-speaking colleagues trying to do it). There were also several large groups in the hotel for a lot of the week – so everything was busy; breakfast involved fighting through crowds (who on one day decided to crowd the entrance to breakfast in order to do a song and film themselves), and frequently the front desk was swamped with people. The comforts of the hotel still make it my choice, but this experience did put me off a bit. The location is also good for my workplace – but nothing else is really around it, so the hassle with the various internal restaurants and trying to get tables were made more annoying (in the end we often just ate in the Ibis next door, as their service was better and they seemed interesting in helping us get food!). Good hotel still, so I hope this was just an off-week for them.
I think it is not the best Renaissance I have been. Nothing special: no tooth kits, body cream in the room. Breakfast is not very variable. Stuff is very pleasant. It took about 2 minutes to check in. Restaurant on the 7th floor is good
It all looks a bit worn around the edges but it is still a reasonable hotel. Service was good, beds were fine, breakfast what you would expect. Nothing exciting but a good stay. Slept well and comfortable functional rooms.
Employees of the Hotel are very friendly, ready to help you at anytime. Rooms big and a wonderful swimming pool and gym club. I dis not tante the restaurant but the Hotel offer a wonderful roof top to eat. Location at 10mn by car from the city center but the Hotel is locatif IN a very good Area. I Will come back to this Hotel for my n'est business trip.
Nice modern anf clean Hotel in samara. Nice rooms, well arranged. Good breakfast with healthy food and on demand egg dishes. Entrancevis welcoming with a coffee shop and flower "ATM". Wifi is free. TV channels available in foreign languages but choice is limited. Good stay
It is impossible! Service is lower then "bad"! Room had not been cleaned, dirty dish was not removed from my room, manner of the personnel to communicate - guys, Im sorry, but in the country side people have much more respect to each other! Being in you room you can hear everything in the corridor and other rooms. In the morning, if you forgot to close the window, you'll be waken up with the severe smell of the burnt oil from the kitchen. Having scented that smell, worse then in McDonalds, I decided to have breakfast in some other place. It was in every corner of the hotel! Prices are close to Moscow in luxury hotels. As a resume, I can only say that never pretend you have four stars if you even do not know what does it mean. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to stay. If you need to know where to stay - write me a private message, I'll tell you.
We arrived about 4 in the morning and left at 14.00 that same day. The staff were helpful and the hotel rooms were comfortable and clean. I used my points and there was no extra charge for early check in.
Heh... Captive title....anyway .. The power of Volga was not present in this hotel although it will serve you as good place to stay with all nessecities one would require to have good stay. Hotel is clean staff is friendly according to Russian standard. Rooms are okay and restaurant is good although super slow... Location is nice for business .
I've stayed at this hotel six times over the last three years, and I don't see that changing in the future. Location is in my opinion fine, you are about five minutes walk from the park, another five from a shopping mall, and say twenty total if you want to get into the city itself. If you have a car or rely on the Taxi services/nearby trams you are good to go pretty much anywhere. The views from the hotel range from the good to the superb, the last three trips I had a high floor view of the impressive river Volga, and spent considerable time just enjoying the view from my window. The staff, bar one odd exception, have all been wonderful to me on my stays, welcoming and even recognising me upon repeat visits. The staff in the breakfast restaurant are incredibly polite and helpful, making me wish I'd taken advantage of their food sooner. (the food selection varied and very tasty) The hotel also has numerous other facilities, that sadly I am unable to offer much insight to due to my busy schedule. The only exceptions to an otherwise flawless hotel have been a couple of small things, and one oddly rude service rep. Firstly the water, more often than not it is fine, but on enough occasions that I noticed the water was barely warm, not cold certainly, but it felt lukewarm, which during the winter stays was a little more of an issue then the summer visits. Secondly the WiFi is bad, at the moment I benefit from my gold memberships free WiFi, but even the top tier 'price' is incredibly slow, I'm not sure if this is due to me being on a high floor, but if you are going to need an internet connection you are better off using the faster connection in the lobby, which isn't ideal if you are there on business. The customer service issue was an odd one. In short I was due to fly home, and I asked the man on the desk to book me a taxi. I also explicitly asked if I could pay by credit card, as my friend needed a taxi also, and I wanted to know if I could give them what rubles I had left. The man on the desk assured me a card would be fine. However when the taxi arrived he then told me that a card was not acceptable, and at this point I had zero cash on me, had less than an hour to get to the airport, and had no idea where i could get some rubles. Purely by fortune the ATM downstairs took the cards I had, and I was able to make a cash withdrawal, but the attitude of the guy on the desk was mystifying, he seemed almost amused by the situation as if it was a prank. Suffice to say I left the hotel highly annoyed and in a rush. I would like to add that 'that guy' is the exception not the rule, the other desk staff have always been fantastically helpful and supportive. Those reasons and that one incident are the sole reason I dropped the Renaissance Samara a grade, as otherwise my stays there have been absolutely wonderful.
