We stayed three nights right after Christmas. The room faced the main street and had a view of the nearby Kapuzienerberg mountain. Spacious with ample lighting and storage racks for clothes. The automatic blinds outside were great to drown out the light and winds. Our room was on the fourth floor and we didn't really hear too much traffic noise, although the street below is quite busy at all times of the day and evening. Mcdonalds, SPAR, and Billa are few minutes away. We walked with our bags from and to the central train station, which is approx 1 km away. It's manageable but there is a us option as well if you prefer not to. the walk to the old town is about 15 minutes, which is fine and was good for us, after the Christmas market treats that we indulged in daily. The gym is located way down in the basement and quite a few doors and corridors to navigate through, but once in it is spacious and had a decent array of weights too apart from almost all kinds of cardio machines. if you are like me, head outdoors for gorgeous run along the Salzach river! The only thing we missed was a mini-fridge and maybe the temperature control could have been slightly higher, given that it was winter - but the controls are central and you cannot really customise to your need.
Stayed for one night - booked direct with the hotel for 75Euros/ Double/no breakfast. Since we visited in peak summer which is also peak tourist season, we surely wanted to avoid the crowds & be close to main rail station as we had a morning train to Vienna. We walked 1km from the train station to the hotel as the bus ride would take similar time and we would have to wait for the bus. Do note that the walk from the station to the hotel is midly challenging with a few traffic junctions and some inclines. We also walked to Mirabelle Garden (1.1km) and the Salzburg Cathedral (1.8kms or 0.7kms from Mirabel Garden) from the hotel instead of waiting for the bus as it takes nearly the same time. Check in easy and we were allocated a room facing the city/mountains/ road. Though it didnt bother us as we arrived around 4pm, the check in at 3pm is rather late in my opinion as most hotels offer a 2pm check-in. The room was modern, clean, spacious and had some fancy headboard lights. Wifi was stable and moderate speed enough to check some basic mail and browsing. We came back from dinner at around 10pm (sunset summer) and the hotel across the road was full of noisy guests on the street - once we were in the room, neither the traffic nor the street noise affected us. Since we stayed one night and had no breakfast included, I would not be able to give a full review of housekeeping or meals.
We stayed 5 nights for Christmas in Salzburg - great choice! Clean, comfortable, quiet, modern - nothing fancy, but lots of room by European standards. VERY nice, helpful staff. Good restaurant - with late hours for bar food. It only takes 12 minutes to walk to the old town (you can buy a lot of souvenirs with the money you save staying out of the city center :). Bus stop about 2 minutes away - takes you anywhere!
Clean room and a reasonable sized bathroom but with a step over shower in a bath. A 10-15 min walk with suitcases from the train station. On a very noisy main road and even with the window closed our sleep was affected. I had requested a quieter back room 8 months earlier when I booked; but this request could not be met as the hotel was busy. Note that the hotel only has back rooms on levels 1 and 2 above the ground floor. The front rooms have a street side wall of glass. Trendy looking but not all practical. The dim bed side lights also show no common sense. Why only 3 coat hangers supplied to winter tourists? The minimum room temp as set by the hotel is too hot. Why is this so common in Europe? We turned it off but this makes the room air stale by each morning with the window shut to try to keep out the traffic noise. A kettle and a safe are supplied and the Wi-Fi gave fast downloads. Staff were helpful on check-in and especially so in the restaurant for both breakfast and for a busy dinner on a cold and snowy evening. Their input has made me give 4 stars rather than the more fair, 3 star reality as the hotel is quite a distance from the old town.
We visited Salzburg city last week and stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel The hotel was very nice and our stay was made very comfortable by the very friendly and helpdul staff. The room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Our booking did not include breakfast but we were offered a reduced rate at check-in.We enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is a little distance away from the city centre. It cost us 12 euros to get to the Salzburg Fortress. The price is very reasonable. I will definitely stay there again.
Modern hotel outside the city centre. The area is not the greatest except for this very nice brewery few steps away. Hotel is very nice and clean with a super comfy bed and a good breakfast. We were lucky enough to find free parking space outside the hotel on our arrival.
I found the holiday inn to be a bit further out from the tourist area than expected. Rooms were a little dated but the bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Nice enough but would probably stay somewhere closer next time.
Nice hotel around 10-12 min walk from main station and easy to locate. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Hotel is mountain facing and all rooms are kind of same side facing. So not a great view like towards the city or castle. Rooms are very nice and we were in one of the corner rooms so got 2 side facing full wall size windows. Bathrooms were good and clean as well. The restaurant in the hotel is till 10 pm but u can find a few restaurants nearby open till midnight.
This hotel, although outside of the Old Town, is only a 10-15 minute walk away. We strolled into the town several times during our 3 night stay. The room was comfortable and spacious and we had a mountain view. Staff were friendly, helpful and caring. Good value breakfast including a glass of Prosecco if desired! We had dinner in the restaurant twice and it was quite nice. Other restaurants are a couple of blocks away and convenient. Recommended.
The hotel offered very reasonable value for money with about a 10min walk to Mirabell Gardens and river. Secure underground parking available although the entry ramp is a little tight for large cars. Plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance and the Old Town taking 15-20mins to reach. Lobby is modern with adjoining bar area which is welcoming. Bedrooms are a little dated, but have comfortable beds and pillows - all linen is clean, however the same cannot be said for the carpet which desperately needed a wash. Sound proofing was poor and the air con did not work - minimum temp selected, but woke to find hot air being blown out, way too noisy for windows to be opened. Our room was towards the end of the corridor and suffered badly from room cleaners noise and service area, also door does not stop any noises coming from the corridor. Bathroom is large but very dated. The hotel is comfortable enough and offers the bonus of good pricing, reasonable location and secure parking, but our room appeared to require a deep clean and the décor is really in need of an update. The sound proofing needs major attention.
