Great hotel, friendly staff. We arrived early and we were given a room immediately which was very welcome after getting up at 4am to catch our flight. To be fair we were only here for 2 nights and basically only slept here but the room was nice, clean and very quiet. We didn't dine in the restauarant...after drinking a LOT the nights before a Pretzel is about all I can manage rather than pay 17 euros for breakfast - but that's the same in every hotel. A ten minute walk to the Mirabell gardens then another 5 into the old town. I will def return we had a fab stay. Wifi however didn't work for me - the only negative
During my business trip in Salzburg I've stayed in the Holiday Inn Salzburg City. The rooms were really nice, clean, comfortable and also the free WiFi works rather good (not allways the case in hotels). Furthermore I had an amazing view onto the mountains from my room and the fitness room was adequate equipped. The staff was very gentle and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect. Every evening (after work) I went into the city center in order to have dinner and explore the beautiful old town of Salzburg. One point is deducted as I think, that the parking and/or breakfast should be included in the price as the price for a standard room is not that cheap (but this is more less the same situation throughout all hotels in Salzburg). All in all I can totally recommend the Holiday Inn Salzburg City for both a business and city trip.
It was one of the best hotel we stayed in during our 10 days long Europe trip. We stayed for 2 days at Holiday Inn Salzburg city. The staff is very helpful, hospitality was great and much much better than some of the other European hotels we stayed in. The breakfast buffet had various options as well as it was tasty too. Thanks for making our stay memorable 😊
The room was flawless and suited our needs while we explored the vibrate city of Salzburg and its old city. The staff were highly welcoming wether it be Reception, bar or Breakfast. They were more than happy to cater to any of our needs during our stay. Check in was quick and simple, checkout was of a similar standard so no worries there. Special mention for both Kai and Philip who were there on the first and second nights. Both have an excellent taste in music while also doing an excellent job in plying us with more beer :D. Kai managed to cope well with both the bar, servicing us and then dealing with the group of 20 Chinese who were in the restaurant. Philip knew quite a bit about the city and easier routes to reach our destinations while providing some much needed funny stories. Would fully recommend regardless of if you go during Summer or Winter.
we stayed there in September 2016 for 2 days. a quiet location and easily accessible to city centre with bus stops nearby. clean and big rooms with polite staff. good breakfast options. however, staff in the morning breakfast duty can be more responsive to your queries ( for vegan options) regarding dishes in the buffet. we liked it.
Location is 12 min to center but streets are nice and full of restaurants and shops.I have 2 beds superior because of balcony and the room is spacios with a big bathroom and balcony but what impress me more was the staff who is very polite and helpfull.Hotel have a ground and undergrond parking. For sure i will stay again in Salzburg here!
I apologise for writing it so delayed. I visited holiday inn during the month of April 2016. I am highly impressed by the service staff in the restaurant who did serve 40 pple on an à la carte basis without any fault. ...sorry for not remembering your names. .. great job team. . Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a get together in salsburg. ..
We stayed here late November at the start of the Christmas markets. We couldn't really fault it. We had a room looking up to the mountains which was very clean and quiet and well maintained during our 3 day stay. It is within walking distance of the main town and railway station. The staff were very friendly and every one of them spoke English which really puts us to shame! The dining room was clean and spacious and breakfast had just about anything on offer you might want to eat. Will definitely stay here again if we visit Salzburg.
We stayed three nights here during New Year's. Price was higher than what I normally pay at any HI, most likely due to it being a holiday. The good points: close enough walk from train station (about 15 minutes), close enough walk to city center (another 15 minutes), very nice staff. Towels a bit thin but big enough. Beds were comfortable and our room had a view of the street and the side of the closest berg - sort of facing towards city center but not able to see it. I think the Mercure across the street might have a better view (it blocked ours). We stayed in room 401. Now for the concerns: Sink in room cracked. Two very large noticeable stains on carpet. Door to bathroom has lost some screws, but instead of fixing it, scotch tape was used (ineffectively). Wifi first night was horrible, and we couldn't connect. I called downstairs and the receptionist mentioned something about resetting the router. Didn't work. Frustrated, I went to bed. The next morning, same thing. So I unplugged the connection in the room (see photo - it says to not disconnect it) and plugged it back in. This worked sort-of, but if I moved from the window to my bed it would disconnect. I had to keep doing this about a dozen times, but somewhere along the line either what I was doing or the router was actually reset at the desk downstairs, because we were fine the last two nights. We spent the entire last day walking about town and got back to the hotel about 3 pm and our room was not cleaned. So I went to desk, asked for it to be cleaned, and within 5 minutes housekeeping arrived. She cleaned, emptied trash, straightened beds, etc. while we were sitting there. Concerns: the glasses, coffee mugs and spoons were all washed out in the bathroom sink. Don't know what she used to dry them, but we made sure that we re-washed them before use (unfortunately we didn't know this the first two nights). The table in the room needed cleaning and she used a wet Kleenex. Not so sure about that method. They need a better translator, as the English sign in the lift had breakfast hours listed for pm, but most likely anyone reading it would assume that they don't serve breakfast at night. I am a loyal HI lodger, have a rewards account that has given me a higher status. My general expectations for any HI are to not expect much more than a good, comfortable room, good service from staff and a decent price. Most HI hotels are cookie-cutter in style and design. Knowing what I know about this hotel, I would stay here again for the convenience, and assume that the price would be lower for a non-holiday time stay. But I would definitely wash out all dishes and most likely pack some Lysol wipes and do a little cleaning on my own.
We stayed in the hotel in December 2016 during oyr honeymoon. Certainly we did the right choose, we liked everything, the room, the stuff, the view from hotel to the mountain was anazing. Additionally I would like to thank the administration for a surprize of fruit busket in the room. The breakfast was excellent, all sightseeing were foodstep close. We will certainly stay in this hotel while next time visiting Salzburg. I can recommend the hotel for both family stay and on business issues.
