This was my second stay here...You can't beat the location right in the middle of the old town. Check in was a snap and all of my dealings with the hotel personnel were superb. Our room was spacious, more like a suite, but of course we paid for that. Clean, comfortable, quiet, and with good WiFi. No complaints. I didn't check out the restaurant but it was lively when I went by...looked like fun. The only problem you might have is if you need help with your luggage. No, I don't expect a doorman/valet but the age of the hotel (500 or so years) means that even after you take the elevator you will probably need to go up/down some small set of stairs.

Over-priced in my opinion, but the location is excellent and the breakfasts were very good. We prefer an emphasis on practicality, not style. In any case, the location is on a pedestrian street in the old town, and parking is nearby throught the tunnel. You may want to consider hotels at the opposite end of the old town.

Very nice boutique hotel. Excellent location in the old town (Altstadt). Easy to walk to a number of major sites like the Fortress and Mirabell Gardens. Very comfortable and well appointed rooms. Delicious breakfast! Would definitely stay there again on a return trip to Salzburg. Thanks for my blue rubber duck!

I loved this hotel! I usually don’t love “hotels” but it really was a great place to stay. It is called the art hotel so yes the theme was art. Great customer service and clean rooms. They have a really nice restaurant below that looked good but never went. Literally nothing to complain about.

Came here again after my first visit last December and was not disappointed bar a minor incident at breakfast on Sunday morning. Apparently one of the staff reported sick so the poor sole male waiter had to tend to both dining rooms. After half an hour reinforcements arrived fortunately. Apart from that, all was good and we would be back again.

Beautifully restored boutique hotel with large comfortable rooms and energetic staff. Location on pedestrian-only Getreidgasse is very convenient. Hotel restaurant was very good, albeit very expensive. Would stay again.

We've just returned from a great trip that included a couple of nights stay in Salzburg. A superior location right in the heart of the city for easy walking to the numerous shops, cafes, and historic sites. The weather was lovely -- highs in the 60s, low 70s. Our room was small but comfortable. And as an incredibly hot natured woman, I can attest, the AC was great! It was the coolest (literally) hotel room we stayed in for our entire trip. The hotel restaurant was very good. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet. The Staff were kind and helpful. They also have a nice outside dining area that is located just outside the hotel's back entrance. My husband and I soaked up the atmosphere while we enjoyed glasses of beer and wine one afternoon. One last note for my fellow Americans. Pack a wash cloth if you need to because you won't find any at many European hotels.

SO pleased with our stay!! Upon arrival, you are greeted with the most friendly office staff. They are eager to please and full of recommendations. The hotel sits on the main strip of shopping in old town. You could not ask for a better location. Everything is within a 10 minute walk. We enjoyed a nightcap at the hotel bar and the bartenders were helpful with drink recommendations. We are from the US but never felt out of place as English was readily spoken here. Salzburg is a lovely town and wished we would have stayed longer than 2 nights

Stayed here for one night. Room was 300 Euro, and then a few days later we received an additional charge on our bill (more than 200 EURO!) for "laundry". The manager had told us he'd gladly wash a load for us, that is was "no problem" - never mentioned that there would be a charge. We checked out the next day, paid the room bill, collected our laundry and left. Then a few days later we saw the new charge on our credit card bill for the laundry. Completely outrageous for washing a few leggings and tshirts. We sent emails and called the hotel but never received a response. This place is a scam.

Well using the popular Rick Steve's 2010 Germany guide, which includes Salzburg, he listed a single room here at about 120 ($1.40) euros, and in a glass case outside the hotel, which is in the oldest part of the city on first main street, and they also list the single's "starting" price at 147 Euros. Well the young woman who was exceptionally courteous offered me a room for two nights at an average price of $300 per night, which is what I ordinarily pay in Manhattan for a nice hotel. Since my time is valuable I agreed, as I was a walk in and Steve's lists this "art" hotel as ultra modern. It is NOT. The hallways are literally carpeted with green astro-turf which is stained brown down the middle. I was put in a studio/suite on 3d floor, and they had three signs in hall in English near ceiling "WATCH YOUR HEAD" which was also true in my shower, where if you are six feet or taller, be prepared to duck. The sink was so small, and the faucet extended say half way across it, it was difficult to shave. Art? Modern? NO. At breakfast, only after seeing that I'd already made yogurt/granola, did the guy offer me eggs, and I had to walk into the kitchen to find him to get a second small coffee pot. Like I say, although the check in young woman did her job by squeezing me for as much as she could, and I wouldn't have minded if this was a $300 hotel, but it is more like a $120 hotel/night. But to add insult to injury, when I checked out I asked the man how they arrived at the price, bearing Rick Steve's and the posted prices in mind, and told him what I planned to say on Trip Advisor he was unnecessarily loud and rude, over what I thought was a simple question and the observations posted above. You can find plenty of better values and nicer hotels in Salzburg, trust me. Room Tip: Do not let them put you in a studio/suite if you are foolish enough to stay here.
