I really had no idea that they were serving soup in the evening on the night we were scheduled to arrive. But after traveling all day, finding that there was a dinner of our choice of three soups with coffee, tea or beer available, was an absolute delight. The staff were very courteous. The room was clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable with a selection of soft versus firm pillows on each bed. We had a handicapped room that was very well laid out and did not encounter any difficulties. The next morning the hot breakfast was available to help us on our way. The biscuits and gravy were quite good. The breakfast area was clean and well stocked. I will definitely stay here again.
Hotel was exactly what it was supposed to be. Clean, friendly, easy to access, good breakfast, and even a managers reception including some complimentary refreshments (pork & beans, cocktail weenies, salad, and drinks) - which isn't much, but it kept me from having to go find supper - and was complimentary. Also, the breakfast was simple, but good. Better than some of the higher rated chains. No frills, and the bed and sheets were not the most comfortable I've ever had - but they were more than adequate. You won't find a better value in Ruston, and I will definitely stay again.
We received great service and wonderfully clean rooms. Hotel staff was pleasant, accommodating and friendly. All the things you expect in the sweet town of Ruston. Will will stay here again, perfect location as well.
My sister's and I stayed at this hotel for the weekend to attend a funeral. This hotel is directly off the interstate and located near everything in this small town. The hotel was very clean and accommodating to our needs. The breakfast was also very good. Staff went the extra mile to accommodate us with staying an extra night even though they were about sold out. Even though they were in the process of renovations it was not too loud..
Another home football game at LA Tech this past weekend, but our first time at the Sleep Inn. There must have been a lot of other stuff going on in Ruston and Grambling as most if not all of the hotels were booked up. Another couple without a reservation was trying to get a room when we arrived, and the young lady at the front desk tried to find them another hotel to stay. This sleep in was comfortable and even our 2nd floor room facing the interstate (#209) was pretty quiet in the room. It is within a couple hundred yards of the interstate near one of the Ruston exits , so very convenient. Close to LA Tech and many restaurants. It has a fitness room, a little small with two treadmills, a stationary bike and an eliptical type machine, but no weights - but still OK for us. It also has a heated indoor pool with a jacuzzi at one end that was very nice for a swim this morning before breakfast. The included breakfast was about what you would expect ( scambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, grits, pastries, juice, yogurt, coffee, etc.). The only down side to breakfast was no fruit. The room was a decent size ( we had two queen beds) but the AC was a little noisy and the pillows were funky square cubes and not quite comfortable. The bathroom was a nice size but how the shower door opened vs. the bathroom door was a little uncoordinated, but we managed fine. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly people who work here. From when we checked in to the night young lady who went and got me ice when I asked where the ice maker was, to the day time young lady who found my coffee mug after we checked out and left, that I left in the room and retrieveed it for us, and then we turned around drove back to get it.
I have been staying at this hotel on and off for the last three years. I have always looked forward to staying here while visiting Ruston. The staff have always been personable, clean rooms, daily housekeeping services phenomenal, and breakfasts very filling. What has happened? Something has definitely changed since my last visit. Upon checking in I told the front desk clerk that I had had difficulty adding to my online reservation that I was here to care for my LaTech son who had come down with the flu. I had always been given a student rate when visiting for those reasons. The clerk said that there was nothing she could do or change because of new management. Really? Ok..checked into my room, things were clean and fresh. I was told that during the week there would be hot food and drinks served between 5-7 pm. Perfect! The first evening there was BBQ chicken wings and tator tots. Cold cokes and beer. The wings were good except they weren't hot. The cookies were delicious! The second evening (gets a bit more interesting) the menu was a crockpot of frozen meatballs with cream of mushroom soup, Spanish rice, and cold rolls. The obvious combination of said items were unusual. The taste was fine but again barely warm food. Cold cokes and beer. Delicious cookies! My thoughts..don't do evening apps if it's not going to be done well. Just offer cookies and cold drinks. Breakfast...I am always very appreciative of having breakfast. Waffles, bacon, assorted bread items, reheated frozen eggs, juices, and coffee. The grits were instant and tossed in the crockpot without enough liquid, so they were really hard and dry. More fresh fruit would have been great. My suggestion..only serve what will be fresh and stay fresh throughout the breakfast service. My other observation...management was in the breakfast dining area complaining about guests using too many plastic plates, bowls and napkins. I, along with a couple of others were sitting right there while said conversation was taking place. I felt like I was being "shamed" for using 2 plates. Very uncomfortable and no acknowledgement of guests in the room. Really? Daily housekeeping services were hit or miss. I was either getting a knock on my door at 9am for service or my room wasn't cleaned until after 3:00 pm. I had to ask for toilet paper. My room was never vacuumed and I never got clean sheets (I was there for 6 days). I know that the hotel wasn't booked and a couple of floors were only at half capacity due to renovations (that began at 8:45 am). This used to be the only hotel I ever stayed at while in Ruston. There are obvious changes happening...decor and exterior, but it's a shame that the impeccable personal service that once was seems to have changed as well. Perhaps after the renovations I will try again...or maybe a couple of the newer hotels will offer the personal service I am looking for again.
We stayed for 3 nights while attending LATech Orientation. Our only problem was the first room had a large roach in it that wasn't thrilled we had turned on the lights. Thankfully, the desk clerk quickly and personally moved us to another room. One of our door keys quit working on the second day, but the front desk took care of it quickly as well. The morning breakfast was pleasant - the hot items varied slightly each morning which was really nice (sometimes bacon, sometimes sausage or ham). The staff were always friendly and check in/out went very smoothly.
This is our first stay at this hotel. Check in was easy. Front desk ladies were nice and friendly. The room and bathroom was very clean. Hot breakfast in the morning. Check out was easy. Our room faced the interstate, but our room was still very quite. A really nice hotel
Was there during graduation time but there was not any lack for service. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was on point.(very tasty) Will definitely stay at the facility again when back in the area. Ideal location for I-20 access traveling east or west.
My mom and I came down to visit my grandpa and we chose to stay here. It is clean, modern and the staff is very pleasant. The complimentary breakfast and coffee is wonderful. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
