Union Victoria Motel3.5 out of 5.0

Our room was dirty, smelly with laundry and cigarette box right outside, staff were rude. Motel rundown. Really unimpressed but cdnt leave as staff refused to refund our 50% deposit. Location good but just not worth it for us.
Great location, walking distance to the shopping centre (opposite the road). Specious room with slightly old fashion internal fittings. The outdoor pool was great fun and three mineral/spa pool was a plus for relax.
I stayed in apartment hotels and motels throughout NZ, and this was the most average one of the lot. It was adequate but looking a little tired compared to everywhere else I stayed on both islands. There's a Quest several blocks closer to downtown; you might want to compare facilities and prices.
We stayed here with our 4 sons, aged 1, 9, 12 & 14, so 6 altogether with my husband and I. Accomodation was comfortable, tidy and spacious. Location was perfect, across the road from shops. Beautiful heated pool that was perfect to relax in morning or evening, especially with our little one. Spa and mineral pools were a little to hot to take him in. Great host too. Would definitely come back to stay. Just a few small suggestions: - not many electrical outlets (sockets) out in the open. Most in the bedrooms were located behind the beds, and furniture needed to be moved - mattresses are quite soft, would have liked a firmer mattress but did enjoy a comfortable sleep. Bedding was awesome. - curtains needed lots of adjusting to look half decent. Really enjoyed our stay in Rotorua nonetheless. We will be back!
Rotorua is not short of dated, nasty properties advertising a pool and a spa and yet delivering a bath and a dirty puddle. This is worse - the rooms are 1960s vintage, cold and basic. The TV just worked on 3 channels - the worse however was the internet which didn't work at all and the owners had the nerve to tell me that the whole North Island was down. Odd that the nearby Burger King was perfect - then they argued, and argued, first with me and secondly with themselves in Chinese. Then they tried to charge me a far higher rate, saying that again the internet was down and they could not locate my booking. DONT STAY HERE - old dated motels are one thing, but rude owners are another
We stayed at this motel over Easter and found it to be very comfortable and tidy. The owner did his best to make sure that all guests were happy. He interacted well, only too willing to have a conversation if you wanted. I think this reflected in the pleasant, peaceful, friendly environment that was evident with all the people staying at that time. We go to Rotorua frequently and would be happy to stay there again.
Have stayed at this Motel several times prior and would stay again and would recommend. If your after a flashy 5 star luxury motel then this is not for you, however if your after a Quiet, value for money, handy location, heated pool, spa and mineral pools then this is the motel. Comfy bed, friendly owners, has everything in a motel room we need. The only thing i would mention as others have shower is a bit frustrating between hot and cold but perhaps it was during peak showering times. Has a clothes line at back of property, walking distance to supermarket and a number of eating places..
The rooms were pleasant and adequate. Close to supermarket across road and carpark and about 5 minute walk to town centre saved looking for a paid park! Not on a major road as most golden chain motels are. Clothes line was available for all which was a bonus even though extra towels were provided for the swimming pools (not warm in the mornings). Parking outside ground floor room not always possible as this is a two storey establishment. Seemed to be staffed by family who were always smiling and obliging. We stayed 2 days.
Thiss place is very filthi dirty has not been properly cleaned the last 3days the manageress refuses to do so and I am stuck here3 more days having paid full price in advance she sts cleaniingstaff ro clean ,I have been told that there is no cleaning done durin my weeks stay. They also advertise to give airport transportation and when I ask for it, they refuse to sp and tolld me that I should get a taxi , which she also refused to book for me. This is avery unpleasant time here and I do not recomend it to any one.Customer service is not gibven, no matter what it is
Room was nice and the first with a full cooker/oven. Highlight was the 39 degree swimming pool that we had to ourselves and the the 3 individual spa pools available for guests. Great bonus. Countdown over the road and near to the town centre.
