This hotel was very nice! We walked from the hotel (about 10-15 minutes) to get to the redwood forest and it was absolutely beautiful. The hotel itself is nice, about 15 minutes away from the airport. They offer transport to the main area in the town itself and can pick you up from a designated area as well. The people were some of the nicest people we have ever met. Definitely recommend for your stay in Rotorua!
Lovely hotel but all a facade. The bar with no beer or the beer advertised is not what you actually get. Many drinks advertised not available and so tiny a selection, lots of apologies but nothing changed or was ordered over period staying there. The food in the buffet was very poor and very cheap ingredients so not great value. The staff were lovely but they told some pretty sad stories of being poorly paid which were upsetting. They work very hard and may be rewarded with a $1 scratchy SHAME who could come up with such a disgusting and demoralising bonus. I would love to have spoken to the HR person because these are the front line people that deserve respect. Talked to some locals who didn't seem to have high expectations and said "its cool, you make a complaint they give you free stuff" I understand hospitality is not an easy job so you need good managers to back you up and these people didn't seem to have any backup. Just a bad vibe all round.
Beautiful hotel, best situation for visiting the geothermal attractions. Don’t miss the buffet dinner, it’s worth the visit to Chapman’s restaurant Staff are super helpful and rooms are so quiet. Recommend hotel to all my friends visiting Rotorua
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Nothing to complain really. Found it good value for money with friendly staff. Facility seems new and our room had a lake view. The geysers are just next door! Didnt get much chance to catch on the hotel restaruant or the pool/spa. Liked it and would recommend.
Recently, we had the opportunity to re visit the Holiday Inn as part of a Family Birthday. As before, we found the Staff to be Friendly and Helpful, even though there were many people in the facility during the weekend, which says something for the Location and Reputation of the hotel. One of the Family had ordered a drink from the bar, and because the Bar Staff were very busy and the drink was late arriving, they were then offered another Free Drink as compensation -- Very Considerate and Unexpected! The Rooms we had booked were Clean and the Beds Obviously Freshly Changed, so, great. Plenty of Hot Water and The Showers were very good. There were Free Slippers provided for all six of us. There is a very Nice and Clean Outdoor Heated Pool which we had used on our previous visit. The Food in Chapman's Restaurant (which was a buffet), was very nice and at only NZ$49.00 per adult including FREE for our Teenage Kids just HAS TO BE the best value in town. Well done, Holiday Inn!
We stayed here and had two adjoining rooms. The best thing was that I was able to use my points, but regardless of this, the staff were fantastic. The proximity to a Maori village, hot springs and the CBD was a bonus. The restaurant and hotel amenities just capped off two days relaxation. Czenamin made checking in and out a breeze. The assistance provided to get two rooms connected ... fantastic. Well done, a definite thumbs up and we will be back.
This was a very nice hotel. Clean and comfortable, good sized room. We were able to spread our stuff out because it was raining and we were soaked. Also, they had guest laundry room that was beneficial as we were halfway through our trip. It was busy with a lot of tour groups there. We had breakfast included which seemed to cover everything on the buffet - English breakfast things, Asian things, fruit, and the normal stuff, plus you could order eggs or omeletes too. Free wifi. Free parking. The parking was packed and generally if you moved your car you were going to lose your spot. It's a good walk into down or down by the lake but they did have a shuttle. There's a Geothermal village right behind the hotel and there is a free one Te Pui out by the lake. The Redwoods were a 2 minute drive and we probably could have walked there. There are other Geothermal Wonderlands not too far away. I liked the location. The staff- the front desk reception people were super nice and helpful. Mehul checked us in and then I went back several times with questions and he was super helpful. If you are seeing this Mehul, we did make it to Mt Manganui and Copenhagen cones! Bottom line- I would stay there again if I returned. No complaints at all.
Stayed for 4 nights on a business trip. For the first 3 nights I was booked in to a "drivers room" which was the most basic of facilities. I was swapped to a normal room which was very nice, much larger with 2 beds and all the facilities of home. The only negative would have been the height of the roof in the bathroom above the shower. Once you step into the bath your head rubs on the ceiling! But that is it as far as negative comments go. The hotel is 3-4 minutes away by the hourly shuttle bus from the centre of town, but this is good because it is so close to other features. Breakfast and dinner were great. Bar prices were reasonable too. The swimming pool was awesome - heated by the thermal spring right out the back of the hotel. Yes it smells, but that is the scent of the city, so it is hardly the fault of the hotel! Staff were brilliant from check in, to room swap, to extending the stay by one night, to shuttle bus driving. A very positive experience, I will happily stay here when back again. Thank you Holiday Inn.
The hotel is clean, functional and comfortable. The restaurant and bar were good, breakfast was a decent buffet and the bar comfortable. Outside pool was excellent, and though the hotel had a gym it was quite small and suffered from being too close to the pool so was quite steamy. The smell from the hot springs takes some getting used to and the location of the hotel is is a way out from the bars and restaurants of the town.
I recently stayed here with my family for three nights and found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. The pool is terrific and the food for breakfast was also very good. The location is perfect and easy to get I. And out. My only negative is that the rooms feel a little tired and a little dirty with our bed being quite ordinary. The curtains were also very dirty and the paint work on the balcony railing is peeling. Overall an ok stay.
