The Hamurana Lodge was a beautiful B&B outside Rotorua, we arrived after sundown and had some problems finding the resort but once we did, we turned into the driveway and arrived to find the two key staff members waiting for us on the steps ready to help transport luggage. We were in a cozy room on the 2nd floor, very quaint and spacious. The bathroom could use some updating of fixtures and toilets which seemed to not run very well after one flush, but the bed was comfortable and we appreciated the heated floors. The service was amazing - there were two key staff members who made you feel at home immediately upon arrival. They made us a cheese plate the first night we were there as we were starving after a long drive. They also recommended activities for us that were not too far away; the Maori show one night and for a morning walk the Redwoods and blue pools area only 5 mins from the hotel. I can't recommend this location enough for their level of service, I would return in a heartbeat!
Well what a pleasant surprise here! We drove down this long beautifully maintained driveway to arrive at this grand old lodge. To our surprise there was a lovely Irish lass standing at the steps to greet us. She spent time showing us around the facilities, and our room and then offered us drink from the bar. The room was gorgeous, more like staying in a beautiful home than a hotel. There were ornaments around, and a pot plant along with a HUGE bathroom, with a separate bath and shower. The linen on the bed was luxurious, as was the throw. One nice little touch was the Nespresso machine in the room, jar of Jellybeans, and cashews. Also the iPod playing soft music, just perfect. Every time that we came out of our room, either Patrick or the gorgeous Irish lass (sorry but I forgot her name) were there to greet us and chat. We didn't find this overbearing but a welcome treat. We went out for dinner at a local restaurant, and when we came back later that night, Patrick was on the steps to welcome us back and offer us a drink. The breakfast was a continental breakfast with lovely warm croissants, and we ate at a beautifully set table. What a way to start your day. We went on a walk to the Hamurana Springs down the road, and this was a lovely surprise too. How beautiful this walk is, with the majestic redwood trees. We will definitely be back to stay at Hamurana Lodge, and hope that nothing changes as it is a perfect retreat.
Arrived frazzled: flight delay, hire car electrical malfunction and GPS was as hopeless as my sense of direction. Greeted by the wonderful Patrick on arrival and all was well! Calming, welcoming and a true professional. What a lovely place this is! Spotless, plush, very quiet and a fine place to stay indeed. Thank you for a happy time at the Lodge. I look forward to a return visit.
This beautiful lodge is the most pleasant place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It offers the best of everything, from views to delicious breakfasts. The hospitality of the hosts are exceptional. They are most helpful and informative about the area. The appointments of the room are above average. The heated floors in the bathroom was an added luxury. If it's peace and quiet you're after, then this is the location for you. You won't regret a minute of your stay there. Having stayed there twice in the last couple of years, we will always make sure it is on our itinerary for the future.
My wife and I spent two nights here and we wish it could have been so much longer. I have never stayed in a hotel that made us feel so at home. When we arrived, Patrick took us on a tour of the hotel and it was so beautiful. It was so nicely decorated and full of character. We went to our lovely room that couldn't have been more spotless, with plenty of drinks and snack options, as well. Not only was the hotel nice, but the grounds were immaculate. There were even cows and sheep grazing the property. When we booked our travel, the planner had us in a different hotel at first. Luckily, I found this one and asked if we could switch to the Hamurana Lodge. We had a great view from the room that looked beyond the trees to a lake. We loved it! Each morning, the staff made a big breakfast with delicious options from homemade jams to pastries to coffee and everything in between. It was such a nice start to the day. The location of the hotel was very close to the main part of the city, which was less than a 10 minute ride. We had such a nice time going to the restaurants and spots that Patrick suggested. We went to Eat Street and there were loads of great places to choose from. My last comment on the hotel is the staff. Patrick, the manager, was so delightful and accommodating. He was there any time we needed something and made sure we were always taken care of. Michelle, another staff member, was just as wonderful. She helped us with anything we needed. Our 2nd night, we decided to have wine and cheese on the deck for dinner. It was truly one of the highlights of our entire honeymoon. Michelle helped us set up outside and was right there to help with whatever she could. The deck had the same view of the water, and eating dinner there at sunset was absolutely fantastic. One of our favorite pictures was one that Michelle took of us while the sun was setting. We had it framed the week we were back from the trip. I could go on for days about Hamurana Lodge. Everything about it was perfect. I can't wait for my wife and I to go back, which I hope is sooner rather than later!
Hamurana lodge amazed us on so many levels. The drive down the long driveway leads you to the gorgeous mansion with breathtaking views over the grounds and lake. From the moment we arrived, staff treated us with world class customer service. They were friendly and attentive, making our visit wonderful. When we weren't able to make the complimentary breakfast due to early activities, we were packed food to take with us. After a long day we could relax with a game of pool or chess in the comfortable bar room. All these small details made this a truly memorable visit. If you are looking for the whole package, we would highly recommend Hamurana lodge!!
We visited here for our first year wedding anniversary over Easter - a lovely lodge with very comfortable rooms and evening turndown (they even left Easter eggs on our pillows). Bathrooms could do with a bit of an upgrade given the cost of the rooms per night. The next morning brekkie was great & they did an Easter egg hunt which was fun! Very beautifully landscaped gardens and great book in rooms which recommended activities - we visited the Hamurana Springs after reading the book and were not disappointed, it was stunning!!
What a wonderful place to stay. We arrived at The Hamurana Lodge to be greeted by Eimear and Patrick who were so friendly and helpful and made our stay unforgettable. Our room was simply beautiful and spacious with lovely views over the grounds. The beautifully covered, comfortable chairs with matching footstools were wonderful to relax in. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room along with complimentary sweets and nuts. We also had a large bathroom and a walk in wardrobe. Every time we returned from a trip out, Eimear was outside to greet us. The continental breakfasts were very nice with lovely flower arrangements on the tables.
About 15 minutes out of town with a distant view of the lake. Beautiful well maintained property and friendly owner/managers. Decent morning breakfast with fresh made rolls, lovely and charming. Comfortable stay and would recommend.
A beautiful boutique hotel in tranquil setting just out of Rotorua. A wonderfully warm welcome where we were shown to lovely clean, comfortable and attractive rooms. While there was no restaurant attached it was only a relatively short drive to a good local restaurant and the breakfast at the lodge was delicious. It was like staying with good friends in a quality home. A great stay - thank you to Patrick and his team.
