Love this boutique accommodation, the staff are very attentive and friendly, they décor is a bit dated but it adds to the quirkiness of the place. have stayed twice and will continue to be our accommodation of choice when saying in Rotorua.

As soon I arrived at Hamurana Lodge I realized it was a very special place. The gardens are beautiful and very well cared. All the property is. You are interacting with nature! The building (or I should say, the mansion) is impressive, a piece of a fairy tail dream. Outstanding room and amenities, immaculate clean! Absolutely nothing negative to remark. Patrick and all the staff are amazing and made me feel at home. Definitely One of the best places I've stayed. Certainly going back when in New Zealand again.

We had a pleasant stay at Hamurana lodge. In the cold winter and a stormy night, we felt completely warm and comfortable in the hotel. Bed was nice, heated floor in the bathroom a plus, pool table is nice to have, breakfast is ok but the highlight was Patrick and Khemer's hospitality, they are courteous and are always there to help... it's a nice touch they are always at the doorway welcoming us whenever we come back. We felt that it's the service that made a difference.

We had a lovely stay at Hamurana Lodge - one which we did not expect - I mean the level of attentiveness and warm hospitality we received throughout our stay. Patrick and his team were absolutely amazing. We felt as though we were in "Downtown Abbey" :-). We have recommended friends to stay there when they traveled to Rotorua.

Booked a four night stay here in July. We were paying a little more than we were at some of our other stops in NZ, so I was a little worried that we wouldn't get our monies worth. Needless to say I was wrong. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that at check in, our room was upgraded. The room was very spacious, our bathroom alone had three rooms and the floors were heated. The grounds are slightly outside of town in a very tranquil setting. It is also away from the "smell" that is ever present in the rest of Rotorua. Great location! Lastly, the staff are incredibly attentive and helpful. This is definitely one of the best options in the area.

My husband and I have spent one night in early June, stayed in ensuite room on the ground floor. The room is spacious, well decorated, English-style and has everything you may need, heated floor is a big plus. Its location is fantastic, not in the right center of the city but still convenient to reach lots of restaurantsa and shops within 15 minutes drive, we really have enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing time there. The best thing living in this hotel is their friendly staff, especially the manager Patric. He was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable, gave us lots of great recommendations. Had a wonderful moment in the hotel and wish we were able to come back soon.

The welcome and attention by the staff is the very good. However, beyond that this hotel is expensive for what it is. The bed was very soft and uncomfortable and the decor had a "dated" feel about it. The room we had wasn't very big but did have great views. Given how cold it was the heated bathroom floor was very welcome. The hotel doesn't do hot food but does do an excellent platter in the evenings although it takes a couple of hours to prepare. The breakfast is very simple.

This stunning property gave beautiful views of the gardens and lake. An added bonus was Merlin the donkey who was friendly and always ready to trot up to the fence for an apple as soon as he heard voices. Our room was clean and beautiful and the added easy listening music playing, created a feeling of pleasure and relaxation. A big thank you to Patrick, Grace and Emer (?) (sorry if I've misspelt your name) who made us feel very welcome and like honoured guests. Nothing was too much for them, and any request made from us, was met with helpful professionalism. A special thank you to Emer who made our last night so memorable, relaxed and enjoyable. We enjoyed your company and the down time. Look forward to staying with you again in the future.

My wife and I spent our 9th anniversary day in Hamurana Lodge and it was surprisingly beautiful! It was warm and cozy to stay. The music in the room was relaxing. The staffs were friendly. The garden was well maintained. We felt pampered and definitely want to go there again. The location is very quite and only 20 mins drive from Rotorua city. My English is not good but the attached photos should explain how much we like it. Thanks again for the hospitality. Highly recommended!

The Hamurana Lodge was a beautiful B&B outside Rotorua, we arrived after sundown and had some problems finding the resort but once we did, we turned into the driveway and arrived to find the two key staff members waiting for us on the steps ready to help transport luggage. We were in a cozy room on the 2nd floor, very quaint and spacious. The bathroom could use some updating of fixtures and toilets which seemed to not run very well after one flush, but the bed was comfortable and we appreciated the heated floors. The service was amazing - there were two key staff members who made you feel at home immediately upon arrival. They made us a cheese plate the first night we were there as we were starving after a long drive. They also recommended activities for us that were not too far away; the Maori show one night and for a morning walk the Redwoods and blue pools area only 5 mins from the hotel. I can't recommend this location enough for their level of service, I would return in a heartbeat!
