A very warm welcome from fellow Lancastrians! A beautiful house in a rural setting. Very handy for downtown restaurants. Spacious and comfortable ensuite room with alpacas outside the window! One small niggle was the continental breakfast, it was quite cold during our stay and a cooked egg wouldn’t have gone amiss; that said, the home made jams, curd and yoghurt were delicious.

We had a very enjoyable stay at City Lights outside of Rotorua! Angie and Leigh were lovely, making us feel right at home the minute we arrived. We stayed in the apartment off the main house which was really nice, well appointed and very clean. It included a washer and dryer which was sorely needed after three weeks of travel. There was air conditioning in our unit which was a relief because it was unusually hot while we were there. Angie and Leigh recommended which sites to see in the area and what order to do them which was really helpful. City Lights is a great place to stay while visiting Rotorua. Off the beaten path a little but worked out fine for us.

Sorry to the owners but the Alpacas were the highlight for me. Anyway on a practical perspective the room was clean and comfortable with the key things we needed for a goodnight sleep. We were lucky to have one of the rooms at the back with patio doors opening onto an amazing view. The rooms are quite small because there is a large communal loung area which we never saw anyone use as everyone is always out seeing the many sights that Rotorua has to offer. Breakfast was a continental. The only negative for us was what felt like a long drive into a busy town to find somewhere to eat in the evening. When you are tired it feels like hassle. That said many go on the Maori experience on one on the evenings so not too much of an issue.

Angie and Leigh made us very welcome indeed. Had a super room with a private balcony area to sit and enjoy the view. The resident alpacas are a delight and very friendly as is Oscar the cat. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

This was a great stay with fantastic hosts. The room was comfortable and everything we needed for a short stay. It has great views across the city. The hosts helped us plan a great day and provided a fresh healthy home made continental breakfast.

We stayed in the cottage, slightly down the hill from the main Lodge. This is a superb spot when staying in Rotorua: you have lovely views over the town and valley, friendly alpacas, and two hosts who offer a warm, kind welcome and the kind of honest local expertise that helps you choose where to go. On Leigh's advice we spent a whole day at Waimangu for our 'geothermal fix', and it was superb. We had good supplies for our breakfast in the cottage, a very comfortable room and even help in identifying the local birdlife! If you don't mind staying out of town, we would definitely recommend Angie and Leigh's hospitality.

Our 3 day stay with Angie and Leigh was brilliant from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Positioned on the hillside just outside Rotorua meant that we could visit the lake and surrounding areas easily. Our high quality room had a stunning view over the valley ,you could see the geysers in the distance , with access to a lovely garden. We were given lots of tips on the best places to visit in the area and even provided a booking service for a spa and the Stratosphere visit. The lovely chats over breakfast gave us chance to learn about the area and feedback on local things we had done previously.

City Lights is situated at the top of a hill overlooking the city lights of Rotorua. By day, you can enjoy the lush green landscape of Rotorua (and the company of the lodge's cute alpacas) and by night you can relax in the spa jacuzzi and the stars shine above while Rotorua's city lights glimmer below. This property is just lovely, and so are the owners - Angie and Leigh. They are two of the nicest, warmest people you'll ever meet. I enjoyed chatting with them over breakfast (I was the only guest at the lodge during my stay) and in the evening upon returning from the day's adventures. If you have any gaps in your itinerary, Angie and Leigh will happily provide expert advice for excursions and activities. Wanting to take advantage of my time in the area, Angie pointed me in the direction of the Redwoods treewalk just shortly after my arrival followed by dinner at the top of the gondola. You won't miss a beat in the hands of Angie and Leigh! I'd also like to note that the Kea Room is larger than it appears in photos with a walk-in closet. I was originally slated to stay in that room but paid for an upgrade since the Tui Suite was available. I would have been comfortable in the Kea Room had I stayed there, however.

We received a lovely welcome from Angie & Leigh - a reviving cup of tea together with homemade anzac biscuits. This property is in a marvellous location, overlooking Rotorua, with panoramic views. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a great, modern en-suite. The communal lounge/dining area was delightful. Breakfast was a real treat, especially the homemade jams. Wished we could have stayed longer than our two nights. We have told all our friends and family what a great place to stay this was.

My wife and I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle, City Lights was recommended to us. What a perfect place, accommodation was spot on, Angie and Leigh, the perfect hosts and the alpacas were the icing on the cake. We will be back, highly recommended and thank you for an ultimate experience...
