We had a quiet, warm and cosy refurbished room No 16.on the end. Disappointing that we had no net curtains, as all the other units had net curtains, so we bought some as we were there for a week. Lovely private spa pool with booster bubbles. If any problems with the spas, the staff promptly repair them. Rooms are kitted out with the basics and very clean. The staff were very friendly and obliging to ensure that your stay was comfortable. Avoid unit 4, we had that one for our first night, and the street light shines in.
Booked in with some friends. Our studio unit had no fridge, broken cupboards door and drawer. Door extremely hard to open from inside and out. Bed comfortable. Friends unit was terrible. Peeling wallpaper (it had been leaking), spa didnt work, dirty floor, wobbly toilet (thought I would fall off it). No smoke alarms, emergency door at back locked. Drawer in kitchen missing. Stains on carpet and ceiling from leaks. Would not recommend ANYBODY stay here. On the sign advertising outside it said superior rooms, the sign was rotting, and paint peeling. What would our overseas visitors think if they had stayed there, not a good impression for NZ.
On arriving at the motel, which we had stayed at previously and had no real problem we were disappointed to say the least. When we left last time which was around xmas we were shown a unit across the driveway that was more of a unit than the one we had been given upstairs above the office. This time when we got the key to our room we straight away had a problem, looked in bathroom, found a half full spa pool, a surprise as we weren't told our room had one upon booking. So went to inquire about it at the same time as asking where the tv remote was as not in unit. "Oh spa pool doesn't work", no signs anywhere to advise this and were not told. Manager/receptionist said "oh I know where there is 2 I will get you one", which she did. As the evening wore on found a lack of cutlery and crockery, the room slept 4 but definitely not enough cereal/soup bowls there and mismatched crockery. Found 4 lightbulbs in the unit not working, went and asked for one at least for the bathroom, "oh i will have to get one from down the road then i will bring it to you". This never happened , we ended up switching some around to give us the light where needed. The wallpaper in places was lifting, the carpets dirty, the sofa worn with a hole in the fabric, mismatched linen, holes in the top comforter on the double bed, scuff marks on walls downstairs and upstairs. 2 of us staying and only 1 flannel, no bathmat and towels were well worn, the front door needed a lot of effort to open and shut and there was no way out getting out the back bathroom door if there was a fire, it was well and truly locked. On looking at websites like this with reviews it appears the motel has been in this state for quite sometime with supposed upgrades happening, where im not sure. All i can say is wont be back and had left a list of problems with the unit for the manager on our departure.
The management need lessons on how to run a motel to basic standards. Booked 6 months in advance and got the worst room. Our room backed onto a boiler which grunted and groaned all night. Motel was full and they did not have enough towels Fridge had been removed from room , no reason given Doors were jammed , fire hazard. So pad dispenser was empty Generally run down and not clean. Recommend to book elsewhere unless you have no option.
Have stayed in many hotels in Rotorua over the period of 30years..this was the WORST. 3 rooms..1 with a broken spa pool, flooring surrounding spa was rotting away..empty hole where fridge should be..mould on the ceiling..oil heater not working..very inadequate replacement heaters..no TV guide..no compedium..cooking utensils were old. Fell over in carpark. Went to office for first aid..no plasters..no cotton wool..and empty boxes.manegeress tried her best, and was pleasant to deal with. Only 1 good feature..the beds were "reasonable".Will never stay here again.
The place is falling apart, doors that don't open properly, TVs don't work. The price wasn't that cheap even. Avoid if you can. We only stayed here as Rotorua seemed to be booked up in the one night we wanted to stay and this was the cheapest at $150, very overpriced. Needs a big Reno or even just a little tlc.
Made the mistake of selecting this motel on price. The use by date has well and truely past. Clean enough but in a run down condition and worthy of closure. Service was average. We slept only and left long before we intended Unless price is your key I would try something else.
I stayed here with a sports team. We booked 2 rooms. 8 people in total. Configeration was 2 singles down stairs double and single up stairs. My bed was missing a foot so was un even and carpet was pretty rough in our room, unit 14. No AC/fans in units and only a small window upstairs so found it really hot. But to be fair having read the reviews we thought it was better than reported. Kitchen which is why we booked the units was a microwave and 2 hot plates which made it difficult as we had expected an oven but that was more than likely our oversight. Manager was friendly and helpful. We did ask for 2 units together which they hadn't done but another family were happy to change so all worked out ok. All I can say is certinaly not the flashest but for a sports team to stay for 4 nights for under 800. was the best we could find and we were happy. I can only rate units 13 and 14 and I have no idea on the others but if you want cheap and go in with your eyes open its a good location to stay at. Thankyou.
Could be a great little place if they spent some money. There's cheap but this is horrible. Wouldn't use the shower even if I could see in it as the lights didn't work. Towel rail hanging onto the wall with tape. Spa area disgusting. Glad we only booked one night. They also charge you 70% cancellation whenever you book so beware if you see these reviews after you've booked. Stayed in another place in Rotorua for one night, cheaper than this place, it was basic but clean and had actually been updated this century.
This would be a great Motel if the owners put some effort into maintaining and cleaning it, carpet is dirty, heated towel rail was sellotaped up as it was broken, shower floor was dirty, paint/wallpaper coming away from the walls, arm chair was dirty and freyed, spa area out back was disgusting, green slime on the step and deck around spa, very slippery, trellis was broken and hanging down, corrugated plastic clear sheeting above spa was dark brown with thick dirt, wood is rotting out side also.. Just plain laziness, do some serious cleaning and replace old furniture and you will have a great Motel..
