Stopped in on way home from Lake Tarawera camping. Spacious modern apartments kitchenette was non existent. Good parking area. Pool was lovely but area quite dull needed some loving spas weren't the cleanest. Enjoyed our stay.
The staff were very helpful during our stay. The rooms are clean and modern, no complaints there. The first time we used the elevator, it had a small drop at the top of the 2nd floor, gave me a mini heart attack, so I used the stairs for the rest of our stay.. It is in a good location, right next to the Maori Village with the Geothermal lakes etc. I think it was a little bit pricey for what it is.. However, overall a pleasant stay!
We arrived very late at night but staff were friendly and still ready for us to check-in. Service-apartment style rooms were very spacious, but the cleanliness of some of the bed coverings could have been improved. The instant access to the pool from our room from the back was great. Staff were very informative about the local attractions, which was nice. The Wi-Fi system needs to be upgraded. It seems to be designed for a paid system, but now a workaround solution is used to make it free. Every day we needed to collect a code from reception and enter it for usage in the next 24 hours. Speed was also problematic, with dropouts and a speed ranging from 1mbps to 6mbps. Other than that, we were happy with our stay.
Disappointing and dirty not a home away from home that's for sure. Cleaners need to clean properly. Room spacious, just not cleaned well at all for the 250 a night room rate. I've paid much less for way better elsewhere.
Not much wrong with this place . The room was excellent with lots of cooking stuff. No bar or restaurant. Had to go over the road to the Holiday Inn to eat etc. Quite a.busy hotel. We were located near the lift which was noisy and sometimes kept us awake . There was a nice swimming pool outside our window which was not very clean so nobody was using it.Also Sauna which was ok .
We stayed here and we were surprised at how spacious the apartment was. The kitchenette facilities were good and the local area was fine (other than smelling like sulphur from the geysers) The only issues we encountered were that there were some inconsiderate guests who felt it was okay to have regular lengthy and noisy family reunions down the corridor from our door and the wifi speed (good enough for light social media, but a big fat no to Netflix) Overall, good value :)
We went to rotorua to visit Te puia and the hotel is 2 mins drive from the it. Staff was friendly. Room was nice for a short stay. The only uncomfortable thing was that the heater was of water and when we turned it on at night, it was like a running water tap in our room which made it impossible for us to sleep and we had to turn it off. Wifi speed could have been better because it was very slow. Cleanliness was average. At night i could hear people talking outside and in the other room, as we went to sleep around 9pm.
The Apollo was a very nice place to stay. Check in was quick and easy. The room was nice and clean and tidy. It appeared someone had played with the TV Channels, so the channel numbers didn't tie in with what was advertised in the guests book, and the clock had been put forward an hour. The hotel was close enough to town if you had a car, or didn't mind the walk. Would definetly stay there again.
It wasn't the worst place I've stayed in, but the room, while large, had terrible lighting so it was really hard to do any work on my laptop, even with the curtains open. The bed was okay, but they need electric blankets or warmer duvets as the one thin blanket wasn't enough. I'm 155cm tall and the kitchen cupboards are very high - every day I would wash and leave out a cup, plate, spoon, etc and every day the staff would put them back in the cupboard, so I had to climb up on a chair to get them out again! Same with the blanket I had on the bed - it got put away each morning. The towels were really old and some had torn edgings and holes. I had to ask for a flannel and the staff had no idea what I was talking about. Don't expect breakfast if you're not Asian - we rolled up for breakfast the first morning and were told it was not included. We said no problem, just charge it to our rooms. "Sorry, we only offer breakfast for Asian tour groups." We were told to keep the curtains in the room shut when we were not in there as they'd had a few break-ins. Cleanliness was okay, but I doubt I'd stay here again.
Considering the cheap deal we got for 2 nights (through Grab One) we were pleasantly surprised with the Hotel. Staff were very good and helpful and the room was clean and nice. As people have commented the walls are quite thin so there is a bit of noise sometimes but as stated this is not an expensive place. In summary, not perfect but very good value for money.
