Hotel Eisenhut4.0 out of 5.0

This war-themed classic hotel is conveniently located in town center near Marktplaz (market plaza) and offers professional services and nice dining. However, unlike other comparable hotels in Rothenburg and elsewhere in Bavaria, breakfast price is inconspicuously excluded from the lodging charge, so I had to pay additional amount at the checkout. Another thing is there was no curtain (or partition) at the edge of the bathtub so I had to be very careful not to splash the floor when having shower.
The hotel is located perfectly in the center. It is furnished kinda old style but that is actually the intention. Even though the location is good, I still recommend to book a hotel out of the city walls and save some money. The city is not big anyways and you manage to be in the center by couple of minutes walking. Positive points: - friendly staff - cleanness - location Negative points: - too expensive compared to what is offered - soft mattress (for us) - no air conditioning; you need then let the window open and this might cause hearing the noise of outside - breakfast is good but might be not that valuable compared to the price you pay. I missed some warm meals for example ( only scrambled eggs and bacon offered) All said; we had an ok night there.
This building is old, so the floors are squeaky but the hotel was nice. The public areas are very medieval and there are lots of antiques. We only stayed one night. Our room was airy, had a balcony with a pretty view and the bathroom was large and of course, clean.
Loved the hotel even though we spent much of our time exploring Rothenburg o ber tau. My wife and I were on an Anniversary trip. I'd recommend staying here and more than just the one day we spent. This was a most romantic stop off of the Romantic Road. Window's opened up to the street below that provided pictures with great memories.
My wife and I found this hotel charming and in a prime postion for the Town Square. I paid for a 'Valley View' room and was not disappointed! The staff were very professional and polite. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful region.
This is an amazing property - quirky, full of antiques, squeaky floorboards, big rooms. The location is perfect for walking around town. The staff is friendly and made sure we got discounted parking and that our glasses were filled up in the bar.
This was a one night stay on a month long European tour. It was the worst hotel of the trip. We were on an Insight vacations tour but Tauck tours also stay here. The location was very good. The only staff interactions we had was the breakfast staff and they weren’t terribly welcoming or friendly. We were in the annex building with no view, a bathroom, from the 60’s, noise from the street and low end furnishings not in keeping with the quality vintage pieces in the reception areas. The town was charming. Just glad this was only a one night stay.
the hotel was beautiful and had that old world charm to it. the staff were amazing and the food was excellent. cannot fault the hotel in anyway. we were there over Christmas and the towns markets were just fantastic.
This was our first stop on our recent Germany and it was a perfect start. From pre-trip questions to an after-stay return to recover a pair of shoes, the staff was wonderfully responsive..they even tolerated my feeble attempts to speak Deutsch! The dining, particularly breakfast, was excellent. We will absolutely stay here again.
I wanted to write this review after my partner and I had a wonderful stay at Eisenhut and in Rothenburg. But also because I have always believed that it is not how a company behaves when everything goes right that counts - but what they do when things go wrong - because things do go wrong in this world. On any normal day, Eisenhut is undoubtedly the best accommodation in Rothenburg. The hotel is situated literally right next to the massive, beautiful Christmas Stores as well as being around 15 steps from the Christmas Markets. The rooms are very comfortable - but obviously in an old building. But there are no W Hotels or Shangri-La’s in this town. Every building is at least several hundred years old. The staff at Eisenhut are absolutely lovely. Friendly, accommodating and cannot do enough for you. The sitting area and restaurant behind reception is one of the best places to eat and drink in town and you can see the locals know it as well - and drinks + food is on $ par with other places around town. I can imagine the huge outdoor balcony must be absolutely beautiful in Summer. What really impressed me though about Eisenhut is when we went to leave on our final day and, somehow, the valet had misplaced our rental car-key. He was mortified and they said it had not happened before, and I believed them. The Manager stepped-in straightaway, asked us who we were renting with (Hertz) and called them. He arranged for a new key to be sent straightaway (overnight). He then asked about where we were headed. We were going to drive 2.5 hours South to Lichtenstein. He offered to either rent us a new car for the rest of our journey or we could stay the night on them in the premier suite of the hotel - which we opted-for. He then called our next hotel and had them cancel our stay at no expense. We stayed the night in a beautiful room (FYI - the rooms above the reception are the nicer ones) and they wiped our bill from the restaurant. The next day, were on our way. So I take my hat off to the manager and staff at Eisenhut. They took the blame square-on and were fast and efficient to turn a difficult situation into another wonderful day in Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber. Highly recommend this hotel.
