Hotel Eisenhut4.0 out of 5.0

Great location in the historic part of town. Found it easy to walk to from rail station in good weather, and I am not a youngster; slack?- take a taxi. Comfortable room facilities, an excellent in-house restaurant (you'll need to book); and a beautifully relaxing back terrace with views over the Tauber Valley. Staff are friendly and very helpful. There are also a good range of dining options in the town. A highlight of our ten-week trip through Central and Eastern Europe. We would thoroughly recommend it.
Hotel Eisenhut was our second hotel stay in Germany. Our room had a nice view of the Tauber Valley but had an Exit sign in front of it. So if there was an emergency, lots of people would have had to stampede through it. However, there was no emergency. The shower was converted from a bath tub and standing in it did not feel level. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We did not eat dinner here. There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance. My main complaint was when it came time to checkout. The hotel "trainee" employee seemed nervous when entering my credit card and told me that it did not go through. I did not have a problem with this. What I did have a problem with was that her supervisor was watching her the whole time and insisted that I provide another credit card instead of having her employee try and re-enter it. This was quite embarrassing as she made me feel as it I was trying to get away with something. I did have a business backup card that I provided but did not really want to use. It turns out that my original card worked at both hotels that we stayed in before and after Eisenhut, so there was nothing wrong with my card. I believe it is the supervisor that is the one that blew it here. What a shame that this last action left me with a negative impression of the place.
This hotel had the friendliest staff and the best amenities of any hotel that we stayed in while visiting Germany. The history and decor was fantastic. The breakfast was spectacular and our view from the room amazing. Thanks for a great stay.
Hotel is in a great location for a tourist to see Rothenburg. Very nice staff. The room itself felt very outdated and room smelled like it hadn’t been used in a long time. We had to keep the windows open for awhile to air it out. Internet was incredibly slow, don’t count on it if you need to get anything done.
This hotel is located right in the heart of Rothenburg. It's an easy Walk to all the attractions and shops. The room was lovely and spacious. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was good. The bar area was nice for drinks. Be aware that if you are driving. This location is hard to find. It's inside a walled city and streets are very narrow. It was hard to tell if the entrance though the arch was passable for cars. Our GPS was not able to find the hotel. Once you arrive at the hotel, park in front and they will transport your car to their garage for 12 euros/night. Well worth it. The bed and pillows were not comfortable.
Overall Rating: 72.0/90 (8/10) Class of Room Booked: King Class of Room Stayed: European King Price per night (w/o taxes): Included as Part of Tour The Quick Hits: Would I stay here again? Yes Value rating based on price paid: Very Good, based on listed rates. The Details: Hotel Design Location and Layout: Location (10/10 – Greatly exceeded expectations) – You could not get much closer to the center of town (and all the shopping and dining) without staying in the town hall. It's also located directly next to the large Kathe Wolfahrt and the Christmas museum. With all of that there is surprisingly little noise in the evening even with windows open. Hotel Lobby/Common Areas(7.5/10 – Met Expectations) – The lobby area is a little small but adequate and feels like it fits the town. There are lots of little hallways and vintage objects dotting the halls giving it a feel of hotel meets bed and breakfast (they still have metal keys). In some places this might be seen as old, in Rothenburg it just...works. Hotel Amenities(7.5/10 – Met expectations) – Wifi is a little hit or miss depending on location it seems. Room: Design and Layout (8.5/10 – Exceeded expectations) – Room was very large compared to what I was expecting in an older property. Bathroom spacious and modern. Note: We looked in fellow tour members rooms and it seemed every single room was laid out differently, some had a small balcony, one had a wall with a window in the middle. Your mileage may vary here. There is also a second building across the street we did not visit. Comfort(7.5/10 – Met expectations) – Bed was comfortable but very low to ground. There is no AC so windows need to be open and there are no screens (there are flowers outside some windows so insects can be an issue if sensitive. Not a problem in September and they provided a fan. Condition(8.0/10 – Met Expectations) – Room was clean and well maintained. Amenities(7.5/10 – Met Expectations) – Had everything you need, including a stocked minibar. Front Desk/Service(7.5/10 – Met Expectations) – Only interacted with them briefly but seemed very polite Food Service Dining: Dining Room (8.0/10 - Exceeded expectations) – Breakfast was included as part of our tour package so cannot speak to pricing but a very good spread with lots of options and fresh local food. Room Service(NA) Frequent Traveler Program: (NA) Club/Lounge (NA) Special Perks(NA) Other: Internet Speed Test Results (from Room via Oookla): Did not test. Vacation. Family Friendly: Not specically Pet Friendly: Unknown Notes: As I noted above this is a hotel that would not work in many places or would seem quaint or outdated. But when its situated in the market district of a middle ages german walled village, it just works, where anything more modern would seem out of place. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and at the center of it all, which for such a locale is all you need or want. About my system - All scores are based on expectations, where 7.5 = met expectations, 10 is highly exceeded, and 1, well, something went horribly wrong. Expectations take into account a number of factors, such as price paid, brand, and location. They will vary greatly from the Waldorf Astoria to a Super 8. All scores are averaged and translated to a score out of 10. 1 Trip Advisor dot applies for each 2 points, so 4 dots is the most likely scenario.
I spent a night there and liked it. Huuuge room, huge all-marble bathroom, just a few steps to market square. Very nice staff. Price ok. Went to their dinner room with two friends to tea and cake, all nice too.
Room is nice, makes me remember my grandmother's house, with antique furniture and cousy ambiance. Bathroom could be better, it does not have shower and sink has no water pressure at all. Everything was "ok", but in the very end it became a disaster: hotel valet service took about 50 minutes to get my car. The worst part was to be played by hotel staff, who promised "10 minutes more" about 4 times. Its all about expectations: The receptionist gave us a preview of 15 minutes at the beginning, and every time I inquired her why it was taking so long, she was rude. They ruined my scheduled and didnt seem to care or offer something, this is what disappointed me the most.
This hotel is located just down the street from the city center! Great location. The rooms are uniquely furnished with period pieces, the two rooms we had looked completely different which was kind of neat. The keys are a crackup, they are real keys and the keyrings are large and HEAVY! You definitely won't misplace it. When we arrived, the porter helped us with our luggage and parked our vehicle, which if you have driven down some of the NARROW alleys in Rothenburg, was AMAZING!! The room temperature was very comfortable with the windows tilted open. The rooms were clean, and there is an indexed list of hotel amenities in both German and English. The hotel offers dinner until 930pm and small plates until 10pm which was great after the Nightwatchman tour. The portions of the "small" plates were very generous and the service was friendly and prompt. The breakfast buffet is pretty standard from what I have seen in German hotels, and the fresh jams were a highlight. After checkout, they have a luggage storage room so you can wander the village unencumbered until you are ready to leave. Will definitely recommend and return!
Excellent place to stay in Rothenburg. Located in the center of the old city, close to medieval city attractions. Friendly and ready to help staff. Great breakfast included. Provide car parking. You May drive into the city center at any time and load of your luggage. Our room had a picturesque window view. Highly recommend to stay here.
