We had a marvellous stay in a beautiful room with a balcony. It was to celebrate a major wedding anniversary and on arrival, we were given prosecco and strawberries, a lovely start to our first ever visit to Rome. Rome is an amazing city and at the end of a day's sightseeing, the hotel was such a peaceful haven to return to and recharge before going out for dinner, The hotel is beautiful, brilliant service from all the teams and delicious breakfasts and complimentary afternoon tea. Highly recommended and we'll definitely come back! Thank you for making our visit so special.
Stayed a week recently and it was simply fabulous. Booked this hotel due to generally very good reviews. However, this small boutique hotel in Aventino punches well above its category. From the welcome from the Front Desk and that cool red orange drink offered upon check and its unique , interesting rooms that evokes different moods to guests, our whole week experience was truly great. Our room had a veranda overlooking a residential block of apartments- 829, a king size bed and a window overlooking the Piazza, and a rather small bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. It was actually romantic and added to the ambiance of the whole Aventine Hills experience. Breakfast buffet was very good, with a selection of cold cuts, bacon and scrambled eggs , salad , cheeses, breads, fruits, cereals, pastries, juices, coffee (anything you like done to your specs) and tea . And the morning service with the two staff on duty - either Francois , Ronald, and one other good fellow whose name I can't recall, was truly tremendous. And weather permitting , like our stay was, having breakfast by the garden was heavenly. The lobby was perfect , with chairs and sofas to read and chill. In the afternoons and evenings , Sonny was always ready to mix your drink or prepare your room for the evening . Maricel , the housekeeper on the 3rd floor was very thorough and helpful ,cleaning up even more than once a day when needed. Location was in a quiet neighbourhood, away from the crowds but near enough the centre for the usual tourist spots. The hotel is surrounded by churches and gardens and a residential area, making it a friendly , safe and quaint place to stay. While the hotel has no restaurant, options are 10 minutes away in the Testaccio area beyond the bus/tram stop. The hotel is a truly superb place to stay in Rome, made even more so with the outstanding service of its staff. This is the place we call home in Rome.
We visited San anselmo in may for a weekend trip to Rome to celebrate our mums 70th birthday. This hotel is a perfect Italian getaway. Everywhere is beautifully decorated and very grand. It felt so much more special than to just go somewhere that has your basic boring hotel rooms. The room we had had a very large and grand four poster bed. The bath was huge with a lovely big window at the end. The staff were all lovely and friendly and nothing seemed to much trouble... will definitely stay here again as was in a perfect spot to see Rome... we walked to most places and got a taxi back that was only ever around 7 euros..... ask the hotel to book taxis to and from the airport... much easier and not too expensive. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay 😁
We stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location is perfect for getting away from the noise and crowds of Rome and yet it's only 20-30 minutes walk away from the colosseum and surrounding area. There were good restaurants within walking distance in the Testaccio, or a bit further afield in Trastevere. The staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was always good and nothing was too much trouble. The room we stayed in was a standard double, it was a little on the small side and storage space was lacking but we managed fine, everything was clean and comfortable, and the room had good sound proofing so we did not get disturbed at all by neighbours. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want a peaceful stay in Rome but not too far from all the main sites.
My husband booked here as a 10th anniversary treat. He could not have picked a better hotel for a romantic weekend away! Small enough to feel intimate and special, the decor was very grand and stylish throughout, with lots of little cosy nooks inside and out to relax. The staff were all lovely, helpful and polite. Even the rather haughty night manager was informative when we asked for advice on where to eat locally. Our room was quite small. It looked out onto the quiet piazza, and was comfortable as well as stylish - like a mini stately home - with an enormous bed and superb power shower/jacuzzi bath (my only complaint would be it was a bit awkward getting in and out). The area is peaceful and with the shutters closed it was possible to get loads of sleep. The breakfasts were buffet style with a choice of cold meats, scrambled eggs, fruit, breads & pastries. The almond/apricot tart was delicious! And it was so lovely to sit out in the lush, shady garden in the mornings, listening to the birds whilst enjoying a leisurely breakfast. The hotel seemed almost exclusively used by older couples (I spotted one teenage child) and I would say is aimed at more mature crowd. The area is lovely - a bit of walk from the main attractions though only about 15 mins to Circus Maximus/The Forum. We enjoyed walking via the monasteries & parks on the top of the hill: if you walk back at sunset you get an amazing view over Rome. Finally - if you walk left & downhill out of the piazza to where the tram stop is, and cross over the main road, you'll find an area with quite a few good quality restaurants & bars. We loved "Oase de Birra" right on the side of a square (sorry I can't remember street names) - it's a lively bar serving literally hundreds of types of beers, plus over 130 different types of cheese (I'm not kidding) and almost as many cold meats. We were bewildered by the choice so the excellent waitress chose for us and we had a fantastic evening, chatting with the locals and enjoying the delicious food. We also tried "Polpette" again excellent food in a modern, very 'foodie' type restaurant. You really don't need to head into central Rome for a great night out. I cannot recommend highly enough if you are looking for style, comfort & tranquility (but with action just a short stroll away).
Hotel staff was excellent during every encounter. Location was near enough, but we took taxi/ uber to most tours. The location is in a very quiet, upscale neighborhood. RomeInALimo tour quide complemented our choice of hotel. This is the only place to stay while in Rome.
Situated in the quiet and tree-lined Aventino district with only a ten minute walk from the Pyramide metro stop this is a good location for those who want to be fairly close to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum but away from the traffic etc. The hotel is typically in Roman Italian in style. Beds are very comfortable. I loved the view over the terracotta rooftops was from our room and hearing the bird song. Breakfast was very good. There is a bar but no restaurant. Staff friendly. Would definitely stay here again as I slept so well and enjoyed the breakfasts. Tip: ironing board and iron downstairs.
Just a beautiful hotel all round. Amazing staff, luxurious rooms (we got a surprise free upgrade which was nice!), gorgeous setting and breakfast is just lovely. Can't fault it, great for a relax after exploring the city.
We visited Rome to celebrate by husband's 30th birthday and were over the moon with our stay here. We upgraded to a slightly better room than the basic one and we stayed in the Gold room. The view was amazing and could imagine it would be even better in the summer month with the balcony to sit on (maybe not for December when we visited though). The whole decor of the hotel was lovely and gave it a boutique feel. The breakfasts were good and it was nice to have the mini bar option in the room as well. The hotel is on top of a steep hill and made me feel like I was having a work out every time we walked back. The hotel was in a quiet location and it felt nice to have a good nights sleep in a city for a change. Would definitely recommend this hotel to people and would love to return here too!
A beautiful hotel and the staff, everyone from management to the cleaners, could not have been more courteous and attentive. We had a wonderful week and would not hesitate to stay at San Anselmo again. Highly recommended.
