Everything was good about this hotel, especially the location. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious enough. The cleaning is adequate and so there's good value for money. Reception is always helpful and chatty, there's also free happy hour every day.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Picasso Hotel. What a find. Don't be put off by the 1 Star rating. Yes the room is small, but it was immaculately clean, comfy bed, lovely modern private bathroom, with a nice breakfast, yes the dining room is tiny, 5 tables, but it's 1 star. It worked for us. The staff throughout the hotel were so nice & helpful. Free Wine & nibbles each night between 6-8, with advice on tours and trips which they can book some for you. The location is perfect, with most of the sights 10-15mins away, we walked everywhere. I highly recommend.
We have to keep in mind that when we travel abroad we will always find details that we may not like;however, it is cultural and we not only need to accept it ,but embrace it. Maintaining a positive perspective will definitely help when traveling. Hotel Picasso was my experience of accepting and embracing. I arrived at the address of the actual hotel. When I arrived at the actual hotel location I was taken back because the check-in area was at another location all together. In my defense, the reservation was not made by me and so I was not aware that I had to walk to another location to check-in. Truly, I was not pleased with this set up. Anyway, moving forward, after a while you sort of get used to the idea. The room was clean and comfortable. Great bathroom. I could hear the other guests coming in and out of their rooms, passing by my room and conversations amongst guest in the hallway. Fortunately, not in the middle of the night. The main train station is close by, but not that close, in retrospect. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The elevator quite small, but at least it had the elevator. Concierge Killy was a true professional and he really tried to make me feel welcome especially when I expressed my discontent with the actual hotel rooms being in another location down the street. He was a sweetheart. I would give this hotel a chance. The hotel was inexpensive. Keep in mind, it was low season so prices in many areas of Europe are really low which was a plus. Just remember that Europe is very different so keep an open mind and enjoy it...
What I want to comment, first of all, is the cleanliness of the room. Every day they werw cleaning the room. Congratulations for this! But the bath is really tiny! If you are a tall man you will have some problems. If you are a fat man, you must discover the way you get in the bath. I and my friend stayed at a twin room. My friend' s bed had a rickety screw on the layer and that bothered him. I suggested that he should mention this to the receptionist, but finally he chose to put a second pillow on the layer instead. At the day of check-out I left too early because of my early flight. When I was leaving I met outside my room an employee of the hotel and specifically a young man (not italian, but asian), who was at the breakfrast room the previous day. I told him good morning and I greeted him. I did not like the fact that after I left, he got into the room, where my friend was sleeping. Why did he do this? Perhaps to see if we had left the room without paying? But we had paid at the time of our arrival at the hotel. It was very rude what this empolyee did, he woke my friend. What about if at the room was my girlfriend? She would be afraid of this behaviour!
Stayed here last week as part of a group on a study trip. The location was ideal - easy access and short distance from the Termini station and the Colosseum, less than 10 mins walk. The hotel itself suited our needs and everything worked fine. Breakfast was simple but fine for us hungry students - an adequate selection of bread, pastries, cereals and yogurt. Best was the fresh coffee each morning. Complementary wine and nibbles at the Hotel Caravaggio (where you check in) every night was great. The reception staff at Hotel Caravaggio were very helpful and friendly, giving directions and recommendations for places to eat. The surrounding streets have a very good selection of good value local restaurants with proper Italian food, and less traditional options like Chinese and Indian cuisine. Overall a good place to stay while in Rome if sightseeing is your main thing as the location is fantastic.
Pros: The location was a waling distance from the Metro Station (Republica) and actually, we walked from the Roma Termini (Central Station) to the hotel and I guess it took about 15-20 minutes. The hotel is close to supermarkets and it is in a good neighborhood. There is a government building in front of it and there are nice restaurants under next to it. However, restaurants in Trastevere are much more cheaper. About the touristic areas, we walked to many Ancient Rome sites such as Colosseum and Roman Forum however, Vatican and Trastevere are a bit far away to walk (30-50 minutes by walk) so, we recommend to use the metro if you don;t like to walk that much. There is 24 hour reception in another hotel (Hotel Carvaggio) but it is very close to Hotel Picasso so, we didn't experience any problem with it. Our room was small but enough for two people to stay in for two nights. Lastly, Wi-Fi in the hotel is very good and the room was clean. Cons: Beds and room were small and not that very comfortable but it didn't bother us very much because we were only staying there for two nights. Thank you!
It was not a bad hotel, but I probably wouldn't go again. + Location was ideal for access to Station and main sites - Room was very dated + Wifi was okay - Elevator was old and slow + Staff were very friendly - Building had smelly bins in entrance + Pretty good value for money
We arrived to our hotel early in the morning therefore we couldn't check in straight away however the lady on the front desk explained everything to us about keeping our bags there and what she would recommend around the area and giving us an explanation on a map. We especially loved the service given by "keeley." He was a lovely man who went out of his way to help us with any choices, he also helped us find gluten free choices for myself and exceeded our expectations by making us feel so welcome. The hotel offers happy hour 5-7 if I remember every day, free wine! The location is perfect and so close to the main attractions within walking distance. The only negative was only having one plug in our room and the others didn't work. Other than this, great stay and wouldn't definitely come back!
Don't be put off by the one star, the hotel Picasso delivers some of the best value for money I have seen. I have been more than once for very short or longer stays and I have always been impressed by the spotless cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms (some are tiny but always comfortable), the quality of the beds and the courtesy of the staff. Breakfast in miniature size room but offered all that I could need, including good coffee. Excellent location too, within walking distance of Termini, metro lines and access to several bus lines. And shopping. Maybe i would not stay there if I planned to spend a long time in the room, or if I looked for pool or spa facilities, but as it is I will keep coming back.
This hotel was a bargain. My friend and I stayed for 5 nights and felt right at home. The reception is over at the Carravagio but none the less it is around the corner, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and always helpful. If you have breakfast, it is a small but filling collection of options and the quaint, little breakfast room enables you to talk to others staying there. The room itself has everything you need. It is clean, well kept and has air con. The location is incredible, It is a few minutes from Via de Nazionale, a 15 min walk from Trevi, about 15/20 from the Colosseum and if you go through the side streets you can see it at the end of the road on your way there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to go to Rome.
