It’s a nice hotel for the money but for a first timer in Rome , try to search for a different hotel. Neighborhood in this location is a little shaky

Hotel is located about 30 min' in Metro from ancient city. Metro station is about 8-10 min walk from the Hotel. Room size is ok, in my room there was no Safe, no mini-bar/small fridge, no coffee machine, no pot for hot water (for self service tea/coffee). Breakfast was ok, above standard i guess (eggs/cheese etc'). All in all, if you have very limited budget, the hotel is ok. If you can spend 10 Euro and up more, i would suggest getting closer to the city.

This is a classic holiday inn express close to the Tuscolana train station and the metro not far from rome center. The area is not the best, but the rooms are clean. Internet is only patchy and often very very slow. Breakfast is included, but I only found the ricotta to be really good. the rest is average. So in the end the hotel is a bit pricey I think for what it offers.

The hotel was was nice and clean its what you would expect from Holiday Inn. The only complaint is the price of the wifi which was pretty expensive.

The Holiday Inn Express has a location that's well away from the big attractions of the city, but still it's convenient. A bus line runs from a block away to the Colloseum (and near to other places tourists visit). A metro stop is about 5 blocks away, and a train station (on the line that runs in from both the Fiumicino airport and the cruise port of Civitavecchia) is about 3 blocks away. Aside from some train sounds, it is a rather quiet place, and there are a couple of nice restaurants nearby (and, very importantly, there are gelaterias nearby). Breakfast is included, and it's better than many we've experienced. This was our second stay at this hotel, and we'd probably go back on our next visit.

We visit Rome for 2-3 months every year (and we've written a book, ROME THE SECOND TIME: 15 ITINERARIES THAT DON'T GO TO THE COLISEUM, that describes our experiences). We rent apartments while we're there, but when it comes time to leave, we stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It's fashionably modern, quite inexpensive, and located near a variety of good restaurants, in a "real" Rome neighborhood. Most important for us, it's within a 5-7 minute walk of the Tusculano train station, with excellent connections to Fiumicino aiport. Tickets to the airport are E8, a big savings over a taxi (about E60). The place is frieddly and there's a nice aperitivo--a drink and food for about E5.

The hotel was located on a uphill street which was tiring for seniors pulling luggage behind them . Once inside the hotel was very modern with a front desk that took care of all the details effeciently and allowed you access the assigned room if it was ready for occupancy ahead of the check in time which was very much appreciated when you are tired from your trip. Yes I would recommend this hotel to my friends as it was close to all forms of transportation making it easy to get to the sites one wished to see.

Dear Valued Guest, First of all, thank you for taking the time on writing us a review regarding your most recent stay with us, all of your feedback is helpful to us as we continue to improve our product and service. I think to have an Hotel in the middle on a residential area is a benefit and not a handicap because the area is quite during the day and especially during the night while everybody need a good quality of sleep to head out on a long sightseeing tour the day after. The area is a residential district usually very quiet and safe at day and night time, but I agree with you regarding the some garbage left in the street from some inhabitants but tourists also could give the feeling to be a break down area. The Hotel is situated in a very strategic location near all public transportation ways used to reach the iconic sightseeing of the ancient Roman Empire, such as buses and metro to the centre or train direct to the airport. The neighborhood of San Giovanni is a residential area and, despite to the appearance, it is really quiet and safe at day and night time. It is located in the south part of the historical city centre at only 2.5 mi. from the real Rome’s Heartbeat: the Flavian Amphitheatre, also known world-wide as Colosseum. Please do not forget Rome is a very large city, with an extension of more 35 mi. from north to south bound, thus our location can be considered absolutely central. Hoping to be able to welcome you as favorite Guest next time you will be in Rome, I remain with kind regards.

Dear Valued Guest, Let me thank you for your feedback, but sorry to hear that we have not met your expectation with regards to the room furniture. I’m sorry regarding the coffee/tea maker, because it depends from the habit of the Italian Costumers to drink uniquely coffee made with espresso machine and it could be done only at the Hotel Bar, and not to prepare them self in to the room. We kindly advise to solicit for it at the Reception Desk and it will be delivered it up to the rooms, as advised on the information booklet left at Guests’ disposal on the every room-desk. It has been opted for this way for children security as well as to avoid stains on the room carpet. For future reference I’m pleased to advice we do have Safety deposit boxes available free of charge at the Reception Desk, I am sorry if this was not communicated to you effectively. I’d also remind to all readers our Hot American Breakfast Buffet, always included in each type of fare, offers a choice of over 100 products, including also excellent home-made cakes and express pancakes every day. In the hot buffet are scrambled eggs, mini sausages, beans and bacon. Complete the offer cold cuts, cheese, yoghurt, honey bean, chocolate creams, jams, fresh fruit salad, 5 types of fruits and green salad with assorted vegetables. Doubtfully you will be able to find Hotels more central located than the Holiday Inn Express Rome San Giovanni, but please remind the prices will be definitely higher. High percentages of our Guests are pleased because they consider it really useful to be reached from and to the Int.l Airport as well as to the historical district of Rome. Hoping to be able to welcome you as favorite Guest next time you will be in Rome, I remain with kind regards.
