Firstly, price was very good. Around 80 euros/2 persons/2 nights. Very close to Vatican (10 minutes by slow walk). Clean room, receptionists speaks average English, just not very good lift and also the bathroom was with toilet, so you could was yourself while.. :) anyway, for that price i would recommend it. I f you go to Rome for visit and not for spending time in the hotel.
The location was good. Near the Vatican and a metro stop that can get you to other sights such as the trevi fountain. However the room was very basic but then I suppose you get what you pay for. Could have done with another pillow and the fan was inadequate in keeping the room cool. The shower was also very cold and we couldn't get any hot water but apart from that the room was lovely. Free wifi was advertised in main areas but we managed to get wifi in our room.
Well don't let the picture fool you if you arrive off hours you have to find the button that's says hotel joli.. They buzz you in... I walked passed the door with it realizing, it's the first door on the right, press the button for hotel joli again, and go to like the 4th floor... Elevator looks like something from final destination movie lol... Ride at own risk... Stairs are healthy. Staff was polite despite my very poor abilities to speak what little Italian I know. Most seemed to understand English well. Room was ok. AC would of been a godsend after wondering Rome all day view sucked. A mini fridge would of been great with lack of AC so you could at least have cold water. The door frame didn't feel very secure to me I herd stress cracks when I was just pulling the door to make sure it closed. Also having to key lock both inside or outside the room was annoying. If I wanted to run out to get food and wife wanted to stay either she locked me out or I locked her in. The reason I gave 4/5 rating is the location 15 minute walk to flamino station 10 minute walk to Vatican and Sistine chapel. If your reAlly good at reading maps and directions and don't mind exercise you can make it to the colosseum in less that an hour and eat at some great places along the way. Would of been 5/5 if had AC and mini fridge, maybe better pillow. Bottom line if you wanna stay in Rome on the cheap and be close to everything that matters as far as sights this will do it... My advise buy a small cooler and bring your own water at end of day to your room.
I like this hotel, unsure why it's reviews aren't good. It's more than enough for a few nights and the location is great. Staff are so friendly as well. Only minor issue are the bathrooms (they are wet rooms). You pay next to nothing to stay here and the breakfast for 5€ is more than adequate. I would stay here again. Thanks hotel Joli.
We were there for a night. Let's just say you get what you pay for. Location was great but otherwise very, very basic. Average at best. There was a problem with the fan function in our and our friends' room. So overall our experience wasn't great. It's good if you're backpacking but if you're with family you could do better.
This hotel was perfect for our needs. If you need a simple, safe, and clean place to stay with a great location look no further. If you are a traveler looking to have much of your time hanging out in the hotel, you may be disappointed as this is a basic hotel not a resort. My husband and I needed a place close to sites and didn't plan to spend much time here. We arrived to a very helpful/friendly staff and a very simple room. All we needed was a bed and bathroom because we were in Rome and just needed a place to rest our heads. They also have a simple breakfast for 5 euros that included the basics if you needed to eat quick and get going in the am.
A proper name for this hotel would be Hotel Jenk. The staff told us the elevator had a limit of 4 people. We got in, went up ten feet, and it got stuck. When we are stuck we noticed conflicting signs of what the actual limit is for the elevator. There is wifi but only in public places and it is not very good. There was 1 outlet for the entire room of 4 people. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only good thing about it was the proximity to the sistine chapel.
We stayed at his hotel april 11 to 15, 2014. The hotel is well located if you plan to visit the Vatican and not too far from the rest of the attractions. As other said previously, it's not easy to find the hotel (located at the 6th floor of the building). The guy at the front desk was very helpful. We had enough space in the room (room 47, 2 beds (1 twins and and 1 single)). Our room was located in front of the Cola de Rienzo blvd, It's a bit noisy. The wall are not well isolated and you can hear the neighbours. The blanket was not clean as we can expect ( we found couple of hair down) and was old (my girlfriend who is mrs Spic and Span ask me to add this last commentary ;-) ) The bathroom was probably the worst part of the room. We were obligated to use our towells to block the water emerging from the shower. The water have probably damaged the main door. It was impossible to close it completely when we were inside the room. My Spic and Pan girlfriend want to add that "the bathroom didn't smell good and that this was it last stay at this hotel". She ask me to rate this hotel at 2 but that' not my opinon (3). Finally not a bad choice for a low budget but you will have to make a compromise for the comfort.
Short and quick: If you want to be in the thick of things per location...by all the shops, street vendors, a short walk to Vatican City, this is the hotel for you. But if you care about a view, coffee in the morning, a real private bathroom, tv channels, a soft bed, space, ambiance, non peeled wallpaper, this is not the place for you. I personally feel your money can go a lot further to get some of the things you would like in a room. I was in this room for two days and that was one day too many. If I had booked this room for my entire stay, I would have had a horrible trip from the first day. Oh and you have to unplug things to plug up your phone and other devices. There is nothing sexy about this hotel. I know people tell you not to expect your modern amenities from home; that Europe is different. I expected different. Artistic decay at best....But this sucked for Europe. No pool or any of those hotel delights. It's actually a floor of rooms in a large building. It's 6 flights up. Heaven help that elevator breaks or someone doesn't shut the outer gate to it. You will huff and puff to your room as I had to.
They is a basic hotel, but a good basic one. It is a little difficult to find but once there there is a cute little lift. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and decently equipped. It is on a main shopping road so a little noisy but definitely nothing to particularly disturb sleep at night. You have to look to the far right out of the windows to see the Vatican but it is a lovely sight and only a 5 minute walk away. The other main sights were a reasonable 30mins walk away and we walked everywhere thanks to a very helpful little map sheet the receptionist gave us. The bathroom is a shower/wet room but incredible water pressure and heat for the 6th floor of an old building and as long as you didn't take clothes in with you to shower then this is really of no inconvienince. The wall paper in the rooms is a little dated, but more importantly our room was perfectly cleaned for the whole of our stay. We didn't have breakfast as there is a gorgeous little fresh good market just about 30 seconds down - turning right out onto the Main Street- so we went there. Overall this is not a hotel for families, but young independent people looking for a reasonable standard of room at a very reasonable price in central Rome would do well to book here. Very happy with our stay.
