Hotel Caravel4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed in Caravel from 12 to 17 April with my wife. We requested for an early check in and tea- coffee maker in the room and our request was taken care of. The staff was friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were clean. The breakfast can be improved with assortment of breads which can be heated in a toaster. The bus stop to the center is across the street and the train stop is a walkable distance. There are places to eat nearby. Overall a good experience.
The main problem we had was that it was 24 degrees during our four day stay and despite being the third request of the day (that we witnessed) the hotel refused to switch on the air con. When we asked for a second time, we were told it was because the checks had not been completed yet as it was still classed as winter time. I do appreciate this but when I then asked if there was a fan or any other option I was told to simply sleep with the window open. The rude man on the desk also informed us that we should not moan as some people were requesting heating! However, as it is stated that air con is available on the website, I feel it was not a bad request for air con. The windows are rather large and open onto a very busy and noisy street which would have kept us awake all night! Furthermore, the balconies were connected and it was unsafe to leave the window open. Thus we were forced to sleep with wet towels covering us in order to be cool for the night. Unacceptable. Other complaints include the fact that we had to ask three times before our save was fixed as was broken when we entered the room; nearly all the vending machines were broken and the breakfast was extremely limited. The hotel itself was clean and well decorated and only a cheap taxi ride away from the colosseum. However, I would not recommend this hotel after the barely average service we received.
Caravel hotel is a clean hotel in the suburb of Rome. Hotel is three metro stations away from the Colosseum. You have to walk 15 minutes to the nearest metro station. Polite staff in the hotel. The breakfast buffet was not special; mainly only sweet things to offer, no warm varieties.
This hotel was just ideal , very friendly , great staff nothing is too much trouble . everyone made our stay great . The bar staff were great very kind great customer service .i would recommand this hotel .
Highly recommend this hotel to stay away from traffic. Yet, very close to main attractions and to have good quality of stay Spacious rooms and will always recommend to stay at room 404 - corner spacious room :)
We stayed here for 2 nights. Pro - clean room - the price for the rooms Con - the hotel is situated far from the subway station, about 15 min walking - the checkout is very early (before 11:00) - the breakfast was ok, but no variety - staff polite but not proactive (we received info needed only when asking) City tax is 6 eur/pers/night.
Me and my partner have just returned home from this hotel The hotel was lovely, clean and modern. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels put in ect. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room but you can call down to request this free of charge. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of options to suit everyone . Pastries, cereal, hams and cheeses and much more (including chocolate cake :/) lol. The staff where friendly and spoke good English and helped where they could. Always someone at the reception desk. The only down side for us was the location. The main road was so busy and noisy. We decided to use public transport to get into rome. The walk to Garbatella metro was a 15 minute walk from the hotel but he walk wasn't pleasant. The stay here overall was a good one but I think it's more of a business man's hotel and not ideal if you are wanting to get into Rome daily without spending a fortune on taxis! (Who charge extra for luggage) .
My daughter and I have just returned from this hotel. Clean and modern, room cleaned daily with fresh towels. We used the restaurant on our first evening and it was ok for what we paid but a more varied menu needed for our liking. Some of the staff not very helpful and the heating in room and breakfast room unbearable. A few other guests remarked about this to us too . The air conditioning in our room never went below 26 degrees no matter how many times you adjusted it. I would only give this a three star rating and would prefer to stay nearer the town centre if I return to Rome. We were also hit with a tourist tax bill which nobody had mentioned to us when booking.
Hotel was very modern & Clean Staff weren’t friendly at all, we went in October and was 24 degrees, now coming from Scotland that is HOT for us, however the hotel had the heating on wouldn’t allow us a fan or air conditioning coz it was their winter and was quite rude on the phone down to reception. Hotel is located quite far from main site seeing and breakfast was the worst I’ve ever had with little selection. The view from our window was flats and elderly families walking round their house with their underwear on (have to laugh) Also cost us €120 to get to and from airport and around €15-20 each time we wanted a taxi to and from centre. If you love walking & Hot restless nights then this is the hotel for you.
So, i stayed in this hotel for three nights. The rooms are ok, but it's not a four star hotel. If i came back to Rome i will stay at another hotel because i didn't like it here. The plus that they have is that they are near a bus station and you cand go in city centre from there. We cought a bad whether and it was cold, and when we had breakfast it was very cold in the restaurant.
