Can’t Get In

I was supposed to get an email or text a couple of days prior to our stay with directions(the code) to get in. Never was sent. I contacted Hotels.com and they said I could check in early at11:15am after talking to the property. We arrived, snuck in behind a resident and after about a half hour the maid showed up and contacted management to get us registered and get our code to enter the building, common area, and room. We never could lock our room. The street noise was loud all night. The toilet tops were gone and the one only the rod was left to push to flush. The shower constantly was dripping. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious though.

Upon checking in, I was disappointed to find there was no on location staff available to check me in to my room. The room was incredibly dirty with layers of dust on the floor, dirt marks on the wall, and what I believe to be mold along the base boards. The room smelled and felt extremely damp. I received no housekeeping for two days although the property advertises daily housekeeping. The doors were all controlled by a link sent to you by the staff which felt extremely unsafe as a woman travelling alone. I recommend paying a little extra for your comfort and safety.

This place was literally horrible. I thought I was gonna be murdered the entire time. The sketchiest place I’ve ever gone to in my entire life. €30 a night… you get what you pay for. I also paid for breakfast and didn’t get any. Totally gross, was genuinely scared at night.

Didn’t have any big issues with the guest house, there is a shared bathroom but, it was always clean and never really any clashes with other guests regarding it being used when we needed to use the shower. The main issue was the keys, we struggled with the key to open the main door, it’s quite an old door with a fiddly key and lock, we did get it open in the end but took a while. The man that greeted us on reception and booked us in was very helpful, gave information on where to eat and offered us maps. Overall, a pleasant stay, just what we needed for our exploring long weekend.

Loved how close the hotel was to the train station it was only a 6 min walk from it. Didn’t really like sharing the bathroom but it did have to separate toilets if someone was taking a shower you still had access to one of them.

The Guesthouse Mersede had just enough authentic charm and comfort for the pricepoint. The bathrooms were recently updated and were always very clean. Shower temp and pressure will not disappoint! 👍 The staff were super kind and very attentive. We booked two nights online and when when our plans changed and asked to stay a additional 2 nights, they immediately reserved the room again for us no problem. Be aware if you’re a light sleeper, you are in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Termini, but we slept just fine. Location couldn’t be better if you’re planning to use the metro to see the city. Would certainly recommend.
