My husband and I just stayed here last week as part of a 2.5 week European vacation. The hotel itself was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with our travel agent booking and was good enough, however the dinner there was absolutely terrible. We actually walked away before our entrees arrived as the prior courses were so bad we could only force down a couple bites. I wish we hadn't wasted an evening trying to eat at this hotel restaurant.
Super location, with excellent staff. Clean with a modern decor. Price is far lower than the top end 5 star hotels nearby. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Lobby is furnished with modern furniture which is uncomfortable and dirty. Looks bad. Small issue with TV which didn't work properly for a 3 day stay. Maintenance people kept coming and were very nice but utterly incapable of fixing the issue.
we stay 5 days at the grand hotel palace to attend a friend wedding. on arrival, we got the good surprise of being upgraded to an executive suite (I assume that we got this upgrade as we booked the room directly via the millenium group which owns the hotel, so my membership makes me eligible to an upgrade if available... benefit that doesn t exist if you book with hotels.com, booking.com and such): their suites have a contemporary design based on marble, and grey/pink scales that makes the room really enjoyable, with a vaste bathroom with both bathtub and shower...only one bemol, the lack of electricity jack if you want to reload a mobile phone, computer and other devices. the breakfast is good, maybe not the best that I have experienced, but good anyway. their spa is not that big, but enough for a city like rome, and you wont spend so much time there :) don t forget to use their transfert service to the airport, it s a better ride in a class S than a tired fiat :)
If you are an a slightly picky traveler (especially my fellow NW Americans), I feel certain that you may be disappointed in this hotel. I travel a lot and have stay in hotels all over the world. In fact, I leave tomorrow for Paris and reserved what appears to be an amazing boutique hotel with amazing reviews for more than half of what I paid for the Grand Hotel Palace. This hotel is crazy expensive for what you get. I truly feel like I paid 50% more than I should have. The good... The staff is really friendly and very helpful. They truly are best part of the hotels experience. The location is quite nice, just blocks from the Villa Borghese. If you are a walker, then this area is perfect for a daily stroll. The hotel rooms are MUCH larger than what I have found in Europe. I would recommend that you spend the extra for a terrace. It's wonderful place to relax and especially good for drying clothes that require washing, while traveling. The hotel has AC, thank goodness and it has kept the room cool enough during the 90+ degree days. Also, the shower is quite good and the bathroom is very large. Tthe room as a locking safe, which I was grateful for. The pool is very nice and is refreshing after a long day. Also, the street is nice and quiet at night. The bad... The location is one of the most expensive in Rome and so restaurants as well as hotels are over priced. I am a picky sleeper with a few aches and pains. After walking all day around the city, I was hoping for a cloud to rest my weary bones. However, the beds are very firm, the linens very scratchy and the pillows hard. Again, I am picky and have slept in hundreds of lovely hotel beds. These do not even make the list of good hotel beds for me. There is a mini bar, but a Coca-Cola is 7 euros! There is a bit of room to keep a few small bottles of your own beverages. There is no electric kettle or way to make coffee or tea in the morning. There is 24 hour room service, but again, very expensive. The lobby is very disappointing, The seating is very unattractive and not really some place you would want to sit and read. As well, I have a very uncomfortable chair in my room. There is a lovely place to sit and have tea out front of the hotel, the only issue that it is sometimes difficult to find staff to help you. The spa is very small and a little odd in design, which makes you feel like you don't know which door to use and there are no directional signs, but nice that they have one. Random fact, the elevator smells like garbage most days as well. I simply believe that some cities do tourism better than others and I unfortunately cannot give Rome an A+ grade.
Excellent location, very kind and helpful front desk and staff. Large and comfortable rooms. Contemporary furnished rooms. Very clean Hotel. Top floor showers require some acrobatics due to the slanted ceiling. Breakfast can be improved.
The Grand Hotel Palace is a wonderful hotel in one of the nicest areas of Rome. Away from the masses of tourists, this area lets you catch your breath and enjoy the gorgeous architecture, cafe's and shops, while still being walking distance to some of the busier monuments and attractions. Located directly across the street from the US Embassy on a lovely tree lined street with more than enough choices of restaurants or glass enclosed little cafes. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious with marble floors and decent size bathrooms (some rooms have a small balcony or window). Full spa with hot pool on the bottom floor, as well as a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
Just overwhelmed with the great service! My wife chose this one, we stayed for eight wonderful nights. The location is great with so much in walking distance. They went above and beyond in making my wife's birthday special, thanks to the staff!!!
We went here for lunch during our day in Rome. The staff were very friendly from arrival. We were seated quickly. Antipasto meal was very good but very filling when there were 2 other courses after. It was a lovely atmosphere and the dining room had some lovely paintings. Food was tasty and simple but presented in a great way.
This hotel is amazing in every way ! I booked it for my boyfriends birthday for 4 days. Communication with hotel was great as the week before I asked if I could arrange something special for him for his bday , the hotel sorted a cake and prosecco free of charge. I requested a double bed which they made sure I had. As well as keeping the final upgrade room for us too , which was absolutely stunning ! Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Our room was always nice and clean and I'm sure they did a turn down in the evening and closed the curtains for us as well as putting out our slippers and robes for us coming back at night ! Spa was lovely and quiet despite hotel being fully booked ! Location was ideal everything is a stone throw away !
Grand Hotel has old world charm and new world amenities. The staff was outstanding. They were thoughtful, shared recommendations that only locals would know that made my experience in Rome beyond memorable. Their attention to detail was second to none. My second day at the hotel was my birthday. On that day I received a knock on the door and an employee wished me a happy birthday and gave me a bottle of "bubbly" and a plate of fruit-compliments of the house. I travel for a living and have rarely received the level of service I had here. The room was also beautiful, clean and bright! Grand Hotel is where I will stay on all future trips to Rome!
