Ideal location 5 mins from Coliseum, 3 mins from train station and numerous restaurants literally on the doorstep! Lovely property if you want a real Italian experience rather than a 5 star chain hotel. Breakfast is sufficient, water is available and the room and bathroom lovely and clean. Only feedback as such is that 'free' toiletries could be replenished once used and 'cups' supplied to make a hot drink with the kettle that is supplied in the room.
Stayed for 5 nights in August. Was a little concerned after some of the reviews but the location and price of the room won me over. I have no idea what some of these reviews are talking about. Place was clean, had great A/C, a small fridge, ample room and wi-fi that worked great in the room (although I think that was just fixed while I was there). The lady at reception that seems to have upset some people was fantastic, very friendly, always checking in to make sure things were ok and made some great recommendation. I tried a little Italian but it is pretty bad but she was able to get everything across with her much better english and a little of my bad Italian. The girl doing breakfast was very friendly and the breakfast had decent coffee's, really good cornetto's and a small selection of other options. For the location and price I think it is a tremendous value. I was able to walk everywhere from the Spanish steps, to the collesium to the Vatican and everything in between from here. Was a far better way to explore Rome than trams and buses in my opinion. A/C in Italy can be questionable by North American standards and it was such a nice break from the heat to come back to the room and cool down. Was cold within 10 minutes. At this pricepoint you are not getting the Ritz but I was really happy staying here. I also loved the old marble steps worn down over the years. As an old convent the place has been around a long time. Pretty good chance given the location that the marble came out of the forum a long time ago in order to make the steps. Thinking about that possibility made walking the steps pretty easy. Lots of history there for sure. Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for the great stay!
Myself and my partner stayed here whilst visiting Rome for the first time. It's in a great location 10 minutes to the colosseum and 15 minutes from the train station. There is a great wine shop nearby, great eateries and an enoteca, all within easy walking distance. Our newly decorated room was quite big with a decent sized bathroom and a useful corkscrew! The owner is very friendly and gave us helpful advice on where to go in the area. The breakfast of sweet pastries was an added bonus as was the lady who served us coffee. We had a fantastic time and would definitely visit again!
Close to the underground station Cavour a lovely place to stay. Walking distance from the Colosseum and to Piazza Venezia, the area is lovely and quiet, full of good restaurant, wine bars and a nice and little cosy square where locals go to meet friends in the evening. The old building is comfortable and the SPA is amazing.
I stayed in this hotel the last mounth everything was amazing! Rooms was clean. Room service was great we really enjoyed our vacation there.. the boss mrs lucia was so helpfully! A big thinks from kumar family and hope to see u again
A lovely place to stay the manager and other staff members were so helpful and friendly, great location on a lovely quiet street with some great restaurants I would definitely recommend this guesthouse to friends and family
We were very much looking forward to our stay at this place after having read a lot of the very positive reviews on this website. We did also note some bad reviews but (in hindsight unfortunately) did not pay too much attention to these.... The trouble started when we arrived - some others already mentioned it, but the reception was one of the worst I have ever received. The old lady was simple grumpy, not friendly at all, and seemed to care more about her little dog than to receive new guests that would stay for 4 nights in her place.... (from what I understand an above duration of stay) After the initial procedures, her assistant (daughter???) was going to show us our room, which basically involved her to show us to the bottom of their staircase and wishing us good luck walking up the 50+ flights of stairs with our 4 suitcases! The initial room they wanted to put is in was on the very top floor of the building (5th floor) and I couldnt see us walking around the city all day and at the end having to go up all the stairs again and asked for a different room. This was available on the first floor. we were initially happy, but.... it turned out to be a prison cell of a room, with NO AC, only a ceiling fan mounted above the bed, and which had only one speed: jet engine so we were almost blown out of the bed during the night. on top of that, the bed was rockhard, and the pillows too thin, the bathroom didnt have a floordrain, so if you would spill water while having a shower, there was no way to drain it.... the wifi would basically only work if you held your phone/tablet right next to the window..... we only got this working btw after we went to ask abt the password, twice - the one scribbled on the roomphone didnt not seem to work - when asked, i was immediately told 'then your phone has a problem", instead of reconfirming I was using the correct login and password (which turned out the be the problem, as shortly thereafter we found out that the scribble on the phonesticker (next to alarm numers, etc and clearly stating WIFI code) was wrong, and there was another password, on the back of the door.... Breakfast that some people raved about was too simple in my opinion; super sweet factory made croissants, pre-made packaged toasts, a cup of yoghurt, and some jam, that would be it. the coffee was decent i have to admit, although much better is available elsewhere in the city. We gave them the benefit of the doubt, and tried a second night, but after two nights of little sleep, we checked out early and forfeited the two additional nights that were paid already. I guess if you are on a budget and want to have a reasonable good location, this can suit and fill your needs/expectations, but if you like to relax on your room/a lobby space, enjoy a hospitable environment after walking around in the city for a whole day (or part of it): stay away from this place. we ended up checking into another place, paid just a little more, but only then really started enjoying our holiday.
I spent one night in the hotel and it was a dream. Beautiful place with clean and comfortable room. Fantastic is breakfast and the manager Lucia. It is available massage center in the same structure. A good idea for a couple of days.
Great stay. The location is excellent, walking distance to Termini station, Colosseum, and many other touristic places, around the corner from Cavour metro station. In spite of its location, my room was very quiet. I found it charming, to live in a very old building, nicely renovated inside. The guest rooms are interspersed with residential apartments, and this gives a feel of 'living like a local". The street is most charming, and there are some very good restaurants, just next door. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, with nice linen. There was a high-speed ceiling fan, good enough to keep the room cool in 32C temps outside. Having a fridge in the room was great. WiFi worked well. The breakfast was good quality, just enough to start the day. The staff was very nice and friendly. Thank you very much, I am looking forward to coming back.
What a lovely little hotel that offers a proper Roman experience in an excellent location. Dimora Storica is not the poshest of hotels but what it lacks in wall to wall carpeting it more than makes up for in atmosphere, making you feel as though you live the rather than just being a visitor. We were greeted at reception by what looked like the whole family and were made to feel very welcome. The rooms are basic but clean, ours had a four poster, there's ample storage in the large wardrobe and our bathroom with shower was quite large. We travelled as a party of six so were given rooms on the third floor which you walked along an outside corridor to get to, once there we had the whole floor to ourselves which was great. Thee are no lifts but even the stairs are an experience being hundreds of years old. Breakfast is basic, bread, cheese, fruit, pastries to die for and plentiful coffee and a lovely young lass to help out when you forgot to check your toast! This hotel is in walking distance of all the tourist attractions although a good 45 min walk to the Vatican and has some excellent eating places right on the doorstep. If you're after what I'd call an authentic, inexpensive Roman hotel then I'd definitely recommend this place. Will be back again for sure.
