We had two rooms next to each other. Our room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. My in-laws room smelled like a wet dog and the clerk moved them to the second floor right away. The breakfast area was under construction so they had the Roanoke room on the 2nd floor set up as the breakfast room. The breakfast was below average. There was one omelet left and it was dried out, while the sausage was too greasy. I made a waffle and had to scrape it off the maker as it stuck to both sides, so I got biscuits and gravy; the biscuits were cold and crumbly while the gravy didn't even warm them. The bananas were either close to rotten or too green. I understand they were upgrading, would we stay again? I'm not sure as the rooms were good but breakfast was subpar.
I rented two rooms last week, one for me and an adjoining room for my elderly parents. We stopped in Roanoke, VA for the night, on our way south. We were simply looking for clean, safe accommodations with breakfast included for convenience. Initially we were going to choose the Best Western, but a couple negative reviews on their hot water from the previous week, made us look at the other 4-5 hotels all on the same road. We chose the Comfort Inn based on a coupon and a few positive reviews. Turns out, we may have made the wrong choice. My room was fine, however, it turns out that my parents room may not have been used or checked or cleaned for a while. Upon check-in we went to our rooms. Couple of things showed up in my folks room - the remote didn't work, the radio clock was not set, there was no kleenex in the room, but the big one was, when the tub was filled with water for my mom's bath, there were black things floating in the water. She drained and filled the tub 2 more times to have the same result. Not sure what the black things were .... hoping it wasn't mold. She ended up taking a bath in my room. The next morning, we grabbed a bagel to go and only discovered after an hour on the road that the bagel had mold on it - so we didn't eat it. When I approached the staff about the concerns, they were very good at getting back to me. Both the weekend manager, Brenda and the General Manager, Cherie, made several attempts to return my calls to address the issues. Unfortunately, we played a fair bit of telephone tag due to travel schedules. In the end, they were very apologetic, Cherie was clear that she would address the issues with housekeeping and the kitchen. And she reduced the room rate for our inconvenience. The staff were great - no complaints. Just wanted other weary travelers to be aware, you have options for choosing were you stop over. The Comfort Inn is a bit dated, but friendly. Best Western fixed their hot water problems the same day and also compensated inconvenienced guests - so reviews were not very accurate. Just wanted you to know you have options.
Not only is it a great place to stay, but the people really went out of their way to make our stay a good one. One of, if not the best breakfast spread I have seen in a Comfort Inn and Suites. The location could not be better for a huge variety of restaurants.
This was a very nice Comfort Inn, with all the amenities you expect of a Comfort Inn. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient to shopping, restaurants and to the highway. Everything you need was within a very short distance away. The scrambled eggs for breakfast were the absolute best I've ever had in a hotel - certainly the best I've had at a Comfort Inn. The woman working in the kitchen, Angie, was so very nice. She said she had a secret ingredient to make her eggs taste better and I told her how much I appreciated her extra effort. They were delicious!! The fellow at the desk, James, was ever so nice and helpful as well. I have to say this was one of the nicer Comfort Inn experiences. I'd recommend this place!
Our stay at the Comfort Inn in Roanoke was exceptional as always. Samantha checked us in and made sure our room was what we ordered. My mother is elderly with several handicaps and our room amenities made her stay very comfortable. The breakfast was yummy as well!
We stayed at the Comfort Inn Airport (Roanoke) for two nights in December 2015 when visiting and enjoying another University of Mount Union (UMU) Purple Raider victory in the NCAA Division III Football National Championship Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. Since the stay was most pleasant and the accommodations most agreeable, we returned for the same in December 2017 … and “the same” meaning another UMU Purple Raider national championship win – their 13th (in 25 years)! In 2015, we were on the 3rd floor, backside of the building … quiet, clean, and comfortable. A very pleasant front desk staff, particularly Brenda Payton, who always greeted us by name. Upon return this year, Brenda was again at the front desk and remembered us from our stay in December 2015, remembered/knew why we were visiting again, and continued to greet us by name upon every meeting during our stay. She and the other staff were helpful with any other inquiry as well. With 2017 being the last year that the Stagg Bowl championship game will be played in nearby Salem, Brenda asked if we would be returning for other purposes or events in the future. We told her it was doubtful, but we cannot predict what the future may hold, and we would certainly make the Comfort Inn Airport our first choice … particularly, only if to meet up again with our friend Brenda! With regard to our room this year… We were in the first guest room off the lobby on the 1st floor, right across from the room where the breakfast was served each morning … a decent and tasty daily spread, we might add! 1st Floor rooms, frequently, tend to show a little more wear-and-tear, and generally a bit more noisy. The first night, seemingly every hour on the hour, we could hear loud talking in the lobby. We wondered if it was the Security Guard coming back from his hourly rounds and jawing with the overnight desk clerk(???). And there was the muffled noise of breakfast being set up each morning, and then the other guests coming down to partake. The noise on the 1st floor was not that bad, but enough to take note not to have that particular 1st floor room in the future (at the Comfort Inn Airport or elsewhere). We would say that the 2015 stay was 5-star, and the 2017 stay was 4-star. Brenda, of course, is 10 stars … every time!!!
I never stayed at a Choice Hotel before and we were traveling back from Nashville and this place was available. Good choice afterall. The price was reasonable and it was easy to find off the highway. Everything was good, great service and quick check-in, very clean, spacious esp the bathroom, satisfactory free breakfast in the morning and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
We were traveling to Augusta Ga for a family wedding and planned a stop in Roanoke VA. I booked a room at the Comfort inn. I was very pleased with our experience. The hotel staff was very friendly. The area was very quiet. Thank there were several restaurants nearby and the hotel offered a free shuttle to several area businesses along with a 10-15 percent discount at some of the restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. We will be traveling to Florida early next year and will definitely be staying there again. I highly recommend this hotel.
Our rowing team had booked rooms at this hotel for a quick stay while traveling to Pennsylvania. We arrived around midnight and we left around 7:30 the next morning so we didn't do much other than sleep and eat breakfast. The hotel was exactly what we needed. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast had a good variety and was able to accommodate seating for our large group. The location of the hotel was good and from what I remember near shopping and restaurants. I would stay here again.
We picked this motel for high ratings, and we were very disappointed! We stayed for eight nights and asked twice for a room on upper level (to assure it would be quiet), was told all rooms were quiet. When family came in the next day (they stayed 2 nights) they were automatically given the fourth floor!?? Housekeeping was super poor, even though we always leave a small tip in room! We had to replenish something daily, not to mention they missed our room at least three times; one of which the staff placed a do not disturb card she found in the hallway on our door! (our card was in the room). Then she said it was after noon and she didn't clean then! The only pros I can think of is the breakfast bar was adequate and they give you a little rubber ducky.
