Grand Oasis Tulum - All Inclusive

I would not recommend this resort to anyone. This was our second time here ( stayed 4 years ago ) and it has been neglected terribly. Dirty rooms and resort. Food tasted good but 90% of it was cold. No water pressure, shower head was plugged. Sliding door was very hard to get open and closed, we were told it would be fixed and never saw anyone. Shower drain has a inch and a half drop from the floor to the actual drain cover. Glass for shower was filthy. No hot water for two of the days we stayed. This used to be such a nice resort but has not been taken care of. We are not the type to let things ruin our vacation so we did have a good time. But there are so many things that were not taken care of that every time you turned around you were reminded that the resort is dirty and not being kept up. They are adding fountains and other structural things, the time being spent on those items should be used to fix what is already there and being neglected. Have the staff spend six months fixing what is not being taken care of instead of adding thing like fountains. we were very disappointed with the Oasis and will NOT return. Spend the extra $200 dollars and stay somewhere else.

We have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old and it was great. Staff did all they could to accommodate.

Concierge was not friendly. There were a lot of vacationers complaining. The resort was not as clean as prior resorts we have stayed at. Couldn't get in the beach because of the VERY large amount of seaweed. Resort was not as appeared in pictures. Food was not up to par and ala carte restaurants were very disappointing. There was not 14 bars/restaurants as advertised. Would not return to this resort again.

We stayed in the Grand Oasis Tulum and loved it. The food was enjoyable with sufficient variety and a bias towards more bland American/European tastes. I am not sure what they have against Mexican food, but I will just say the salsa did not flow freely. The upscale restaurants were nice but took forever and burned up valuable beach time. The staff was pleasant, the grounds and pools were stunning, the rooms were clean and fairly well maintained and we felt the overall value was exceptional. Some people will fall in love with this place and some will not: People who should look elsewhere: Those looking for 5 star service. Those looking for impeccable attention to detail. Foodies. People who spend most of their time in large hotels gambling, partying, watching shows etc. Spring breakers. Alcoholics who prefer drinks mixed with organic juices instead of watery juice beverages. Those who will really appreciate this location: People who love the beach, water, snorkeling, nature, personal space, reading, relaxing, fishing and exploring. Families with children. Those who tend to avoid wasted college students. It is a spectacular location right off one of the best beaches anywhere and it is ideally located to see what I think are the best parts of Mexico. We rented a SMART car that was actually powered by iguanas and every time it changed between it's two gears there was a long pause and if/when it did manage to change gears we always felt a sense of accomplishment. We felt like the Flintstones but it was fun. The area is rural, off the radar of the cartels, not at all congested and very easy to get around... nothing like the chaos of Tiajuana or Mexico City. Coming from the Western U.S., we found driving, shopping and getting around Mexico very natural. On one hand, we kept wondering why we bothered renting a car because resort was so fun. On the other hand, checking out the area was a blast. A week was just not enough time... We booked an excursion through the Akumal Dive Shop. It was insanely affordable and awesome. The crew was fun, funny and their cooking skills blew us away.

hotel very good, beach amazing, food good, intertainment spanish only

very nice location, I stayed in the sian kaan suite, there was not enough hot water to supply the hot tub and the window to the beach did not open. this place is a bit overpriced....

The hotel is very laid back. Most of the staff were extremely nice and worked hard. We loved the beach location because there is a reef blocking most of the surf so we could snorkel easily from shore. Also at night turtles come to shore to lay eggs. Grand Oasis Tulum is also very close to most of what we wanted to do like xcaret and xplor. The food buffet was just ok but the Al Sur restaurant was delicious. It was tough to make reservations to the restaurant as it booked solid at 9am. The room was dated but large and chest of drawers didn't open properly. The hot water was fickle. The evening entertainment was pretty amateurish. Overall it was a good value if you don't expect luxury.

We LOVE this place. I was worry about it since they had some bad review, but it was nothing bad at all. It's the only 5 star hotel with Kids Free! We travel with 3 other families and each with 2 adults and 2 kids, best value package! We booked the Grand side, but its the same price as the Oasis side, our room was nice and clean, food is supper good, love the drink and service, most of all the beach, pool, the view ~ LOVE ~ we went during spring break Good Friday weekend, Hotel was fully booked, but it was not many people there. We had no problem to book special restaurant, or find a beach chair, many towels and places to lay. Our group took over the whole pool and bar, so nice. We love and love here, the restaurant service manager - Diana and Orlando....they are all so nice. We love this place, you surely will like it too!

Our room was a little run down. We had what we needed but after seeing cockroaches in our room and many of our family rooms, it made you wonder how clean everything really was. The washroom smelled of sewer our entire stay. The pillows and chairs all smelt of stale water... Without the majority of friendly staff our stay wouldn't have been very good at all. Don't even get me started on how horrible our travel was with connecting flights. Overall it took 33 hours to get home from Mayan riviera to edmonton. :(

Our room had a gorgeous view, and the resort is located on a prime section of beach. However, the large locked door (window?) with no balcony kept us awake several nights when the wind hit it at a certain angle-- like an air horn going off constantly. Almost every other guest we spoke with had some issue with their room. Several had switched rooms at least one time. Staff works very, very hard. Always something good to eat, whether in the buffet or at one of the specialty restaurants. The bartender at the "Martini Bar" made the most excellent drinks, with premium brands. Snorkeling was great, especially on a calm day.

We arrived on dec 23 and were told they did not have any rooms due to water ac problems but had rooms for us in cancun 1 1/2 hours back in the direction we just came from. We were sent to a sister resort ( adult only) 21+ ) when we had an 18 and 20 year old. Told 1 or 2 days they would have our room - 4 days later we were able to come back. We were told by another guest at Tulum they were lying - giving rooms to higher paying guest e.g. We asked managers at both the oasis viva and oasis cancun ( where we were sent if the oasis tulum was experiencing water A/c problems - they were not aware of any. Oasis tulum was not willing to refund us the portion of our holiday where we had paid a premium to stay at oasis tulum. Never again!

If you are on a tight budget or this is your first time to the area, you may enjoy it. However, this is my 6th time to the Mayan Riviera area, and I was sorely disappointed with this experience. Bottom line, I'd recommend staying at Secrets/Dreams or Riu. FRONT DESK: This is possibly the worst experience I've had with a hotel front desk. While the personnel are nice and clearly want to help, management and policies are downright disdainful. One example of this -- one of our party had a leak in their bathroom which caused the room to smell horribly and the bathroom to be unusable. They were given the run-around for over a day and in the end were told that there's nothing they can do, just "be careful". They requested to be moved to another room and were told that there was none available. The whole time the front desk personnel had to run back and forth to the office to ask the manager because they clearly had no authority to do anything. The manager refused to come out and speak to anyone, choosing instead to hide away and try everything possible to avoid actually fixing the problem. A whole day wasted trying to get this taken care of when it would have been so easy to fix the problem early on and avoid all the negativity. BEACH The beach is actually very dirty (lots of trash washed up on the beach) and rocky. There are much better beaches further north in Playa del Carmen. FOOD The food in the reserved restaurants was pretty good, however you have to be quick to make reservations. The best was the lamb tacos in Serape. ROOMS The rooms were pretty basic but had everything you needed. Unfortunately it smelled really musty and they would leak when it rains. Beds were comfortable but the pillows were old and lumpy. SERVICE Service in the restaurants is pretty good. It helps if you tip the staff, they will remember you and give better service the next time around. I did have problems with housekeeping - one night requested twice that new towels be taken to my room and it never happened. ADDITIONAL CHARGES Be prepared to pay extra for basic things such as the room safe and room service. WIFI/INTERNET There's only one computer for the entire resort in the lobby. It's pretty much always in use. If you want to log in on your own device you'll need to purchase the WIFI service, but it's pretty unreliable. Don't count on it if you need to be logged in for work. OVERALL We had a good vacation, but I won't be back to this hotel. It's a shame because the staff tries really hard and it has a lot of potential, but it just misses the mark.

We arrived at the Grand Oasis Tulum, quite skeptical after reading the increasingly negative reviews on a very well-known travel website. When we booked a few months ago (late summer 2013) the reviews were very good, but the place has apparently been on a downhill trajectory since that time. Lots of complaints about no power, poor food and lack of service. After arriving at the resort, we were immediately given a spin and told that we were "winners" of a vacation at the Grand Oasis Cancun (translation: no rooms left). So we were forced to trek back to Cancun after just coming from there, and endure a week at a very loud entertainment-focused resort that was mediocre at best, and not very kid friendly. Food options were limited and of poor quality. Long lines to restaurants. The beach and grounds were nice but that was not enough to compensate. We live in NYC and wanted a quiet family experience, which is why we booked this resort in Akumal. We did not want the loud Cancun "party scene" experience and could not wait for this vacation to end. Some of the staff was nice and tried to accomodate, but we will never contribute a single dollar to Oasis resorts again.

Unfortunately, all inclusive has exceptions that should be more clearly defined on your website to avoid confusion and frustration. Restraunts we poorly staffed and food was mediocre. Buffet was fresh and great veggies and fruit selection. Ocean front room had no balcony very very disappointed. Had we known we would have chosen sounds of the sea vs fishbowl. Very dank moldy smell and very slow drains in sink and shower in rooms. Really no choice of all the restraunts it was like they were juggling the schedules so it was always an ordeal dealing with dinner plans. Pretty stressful...staff was friendly and you could tell they had no control over anything, has empathy but nothing they could do...

It's a nice place to stay. Has all the usual things and is a great location for local exploring. I like that it is not as comercialized as some other areas. Staff is very helpful and nice. Beautiful beach, great pools, sister resort ajacent is also excellent, restaurants are good with several to choose from. Talk to Ingred, she is an excellent concierge and has several excellent recomendations. It is about an hour from the airport so be prepared for the ride. I used Cancun Shuttle which you can book round trip service with online and they were excellent. I would definately recommed them and use their service again. Experience there was good and hotel was beautiful.

Upon arrival at the Grand Oasis Tulum, we noticed the lobby was extremely hot (no air conditioning, no fans, no nice open lobby). We were supposed to be greeted with a hot towel and a drink, did not happen. 1. The rooms. We stayed in one of the rooms that opened to the beach. These rooms were very nice, but we had to call daily to have the room cleaned and the mini fridge replenished. Sometimes we would have to call a second time to get them to bring coffee for the coffee maker and wash clothes. 2. The food. Not all the restaurants were opened. There were 2 resorts (The Oasis and The Grand Oasis Tulum) and there was one buffet style restaurant open so you would have to wait in line for a table. The food was not hot. The room was hot, the air conditioners were not on, there were no windows to be opened and the fans were not turned on till the end of our vacation. One time it was so hot in the room the cheese on the lunch meat table was melted and you could not separate it to pick it up. The only food items you could count on being hot was the ones the chefs were preparing for you. The specialty restaurants were very good. 3. The beach. The beach and reef were awesome. If we go back it would only be because of the beach and the reef. You could actually snorkel out to it and see lots of marine life. The snorkeling was amazing! 4. The employees. The employees were so hardworking. The were overworked. They had to wait on way too many tables or people to be timely, which was not their fault at all. MANY, many times I got water, coffee, napkins, silverware, for me and my husband when the waiter was too busy, again not his/her fault. I just feel like like the management was cutting too many corners, under staffing the workers to make this resort any more than a 2 star. We have stayed quite a few times in the Mayan Rivera, Cancun, and Cozumel in all-inclusive resorts and aside from the beach, this resort would have to be at the bottom of the list for us.

Total awesome trip. Stayed there for a week and had an amazing time. Food was great; staff were polite and kind and very hard working; did everything they could to make us enjoy and always smiled. The resort is beautiful and has the best location on the beach. It's the perfect place to go and relax. Family and couple oriented so if you're looking for night life pick another one. I loved it and would definitely go back. Special thanks to Grand Oasis staff for their hospitality and hard work ... Yola & Dee Dee

THE HOTEL WAS BEAUTIFUL, OUR ROOM NOT ONLY HAD AN OCEAN VIEW, BUT WE COULD WALK OUT FROM OUR ROOM RIGHT TO THE BEACH, ROOM DECORATION WAS SOPHISTICATED, MODERN AND SLEEK, YOU COULD SEE THE BEACH FROM EVERY ANGLE, EVEN WHILE TAKING A SHOWER, IT WAS WONDERFUL, STAFF WAS FRIENDLY, AND HAD 13 RESTAURANTS TO CHOOSE FROM, FOOD WAS AVAILABLE 24 HRS A DAY. EVEN HAD A COFEE SHOP, CAPUCCINOS WHERE DELICIOUS, THE HOTEL HAD ACTIVITIES, AND SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS, WE HAD DINNER AT A BRAZILIAN ONE, AND THE ALL GOOD BUFFET THAT WAS VERY TASTY. THEY HAD ACCOMODATIONS FOR MY TODDLERS AND WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE, MUST COME BACK!!!! WAS RELATIVIBLY CLOSE TO ALL THE THEME PARKS, AND RECREATION CENTERS, MUCH BETTER THAN STAYING AT THE CITY OF CANCUN, SINCE THAT IS FARTHER AWAY FROM THE SITES, AND TRAVELING WITH KIDS, MADE IT BETTER FOR EVERYBODY

location perfection

Couples
