Very clean rooms and excellent service! Asian dining has great food 🥘 and child will let you bring food out by the beach! Wonderful activities for the children with Ninja turtles 🐢 and Boots from Dora walking around the resort! Glow show was really cool along with Mexican festiva on the beach with a great show!
I had both a Wedding and a Honeymoon stay at this property within the last couple of weeks. We stayed for over a week and a half. I will firstly do my review of the property and resort itself and its amenities, and at the end of my review I will discuss my review of the wedding and the coordinators. The Resort and Its Amenities: This resort likes to boast that is a five star place. I will personally have to disagree and say that it is more of a four star experience. I believe they are trying to make it a five star, but the state of our room and the level of service for that is not quite there. The employees/staff at this resort were almost all very nice and tried to do their jobs well, but the longer I was there I could sense a bit of unhappiness among them. About three days into our stay, we realized that we were probably supposed to be tipping everyone, even though the resort clearly states that tips are included. The reason we felt this way was because we tended to be ignored or not assisted as often when we didn't tip. Additionally, a bar tender actually told some of our wedding guests that they should bring some of their "friends" back over to the bar - all while holding up a dollar bill and waving it at them, insinuating he was unhappy he didn't get a tip. My wedding guests were taken aback by this, as one of the women he said it to was my sister-in-law whose husband had already tipped the bar tender earlier in the day pretty nicely. I felt that this tipping issue put a big damper on our experience overall. I was constantly worried if we were going to run out of change, and how much we should leave for the waiters, bar tenders, housekeeping, concierge, etc etc etc. We expected already to tip SOME based on the reviews for this resort; however, considering the length of time we stayed there, it became very burdensome and stressful. We even had my mother-in-law leave us extra cash because we didn't bring enough with us to start with. Good thing though is the front desk had change for us in American Dollars every time we asked. We ended up spending about $300 USD on tips during our stay. Too much in my opinion. I'd say that is my biggest complaint about this place. I have one or two other small things that contributed to my four star opinion. We booked a Junior Jacuzzi Suite - I'm not sure if it was worth the extra money. I mean, I guess the extra space and nicer bathroom we got was great; however, the "Jacuzzi" part was a ripoff. My husband and I decided to get into the tub - we made sure it was clean and rinsed out and we had already showered before getting into it. We got in, and turned the jets on, but then started to notice the water started turning brown and the bubbles on top of the water from the jets were creating a nasty brown foam. I assume the jets are never routinely cleaned out. We immediately got out, afraid of what bacteria may have been in those jets and in the water. Additionally the shower head in our shower which was supposed to be/or used to be nice was not working properly. The water only had pressure on one side of the shower head - it was as if the inside of the shower head had rusted. The water was coming out of the seam between the bottom and top of the head. That was disappointing. Positives: The grounds are gorgeous, and no filters or Photoshop is needed for pictures of the grounds! (With the exception of the main pool at Aquanox bar - this pool appeared to need a real, deep cleaning of the tiles and new water, etc.). The restaurants were pretty good! I will go ahead and say that I have a rare food allergy that is difficult to avoid. When I went to Chil (which is a lunch restaurant only) or ordered room service the only real meal option for me to eat was a burger without the bun. I couldn't even eat the fries. So that was very disappointing. I figured the room service menu would have nicer options. Most of it was junk food. Blue was great - very nice variety of food options offered for all three meals. I loved that restaurant. Considering it's the main restaurant of the resort, that is impressive. The other three places I'd say were good! The Latino place was good - the servers always made an extra effort to give me options that I could have - going out of their way to provide me a soup that wasn't on the menu so that I could enjoy my meal - when I asked. I did have a server ask me though if I "was really allergic" to my allergen, or did I "just not like it". I made it very clear that I was not making my allergy up. That was embarrassing and frustrating because I had clearly had a couple of small reactions already staying at that resort. The Italian place was VERY good. We ate there twice and loved it both times. No complaints. The asian place was alright. I wasn't a fan of the entree I ordered the first time we went there - it was very spicy and upset my stomach pretty bad the next day. I think it was something with red curry. We went back there again another night and sat at the sushi bar - I'd say that was okay, but I don't really think there was much real sushi provided. The chef didn't put a whole lot of it on the boats that go around - we waited for like 20 minutes before finally asking him for something specific to eat. Here is my opinion of the order of best restaurants: 1. Blue 2. Italian 3. Latino 4. Asian 5. Chil 6. Room Service ALSO - another thing to note - apparently there is a hidden Aquanox/beach menu we were never told about. I didn't even know until I saw another guest ordering from it on the day before we left. Very disappointed about that. I wonder if it's because we didn't "tip enough"?? No idea - we thought that was very odd. ALSO - the Aquanox and pool bar Bubbles have hidden liquor brands not on display. The first day I was there I was in tears because I didn't think they had any alcohol I could drink. I finally discovered they had some hidden after a bar tender finally helped me find a solution. My husband who has no food allergies loved all of the food he ate the entire trip and had no complaints that I recall. Another tip - if you are eating breakfast at Blue make sure when you get up to get more food at the buffet that you leave someone at the table to guard it or the local birds will fly in and eat off your plate!! Our King Bed in our room was VERY VERY VERY comfortable - so for that we were very grateful and happy. I would have to say that we did have a small issue with not enough waters being brought to our room - we had to keep asking for more. We discovered that they would leave the correct amount if we tipped.....annoying. Not that we have anything against tipping, but we shouldn't feel like we HAVE to since that's not what was expected when we booked this trip. House keeping did keep our room clean though, didn't have any issues with that except for the tub mentioned earlier. My husband and I did do the spa one day on our honeymoon. We loved it, but of course we couldn't do more than that one time because we didn't have more money. It was very expensive. The facilities were very nice though and everyone there was super nice too. Very clean environment. If we could have afforded it, we would have done more there. We had a cabana one day. We felt obligated to keep tipping the butler that brought us drinks. He was great though, very friendly and thoughtful. Just not sure if that's because we were giving him money or not. There is a selection of books to borrow from the attendant in the hut on the beach. Loved that. We loved Enrique - he seemed genuinely interested in making us happy with no expectation for tips. We appreciated that. Another resort staff that we really liked was Alejandro with the event staff. He was always really genuine with us. Speaking of events - my husband was blown away with the theater performance at night of the circus. I agree - it was very good and entertaining and had truly talented individuals in it!! Amazing talent. There are so many things I could discuss about this resort. I will try and state some of the things I wanted to know before going there to help others: The outlets/plugs were American style. If you have a European electronic, bring a converter. There was an ironing board and an iron in the room - I didn't use them because it was very affordable to have our wedding clothes "pressed"! It was only like $10 or $14 total USD I think!! Loved that. There are hair dryers in the rooms - my first one started burning me and smelled like melting plastic, but house keeping helped me get another one and it worked fine the rest of our stay. The safe worked well for us - we never felt scared to leave anything in the safe when we left the room. I will say that house keeping had some odd times of coming though - one time we went to bed early and they were knocking on our door at 9:45 pm asking if we needed anything! We placed the Do-Not-Disturb sign on the door from there on out. If you want a swim up bar experience go to Bubbles in the back of the resort in the newer section. If you try to go up to the bar at Aquanox, you won't get a lot of service bc that bar tender is busy making drinks for people sitting up around the bar area, the beach, the pool, etc. I never saw many bugs - but there are crabs that crawl around the sidewalks at night, and even knock on your glass door when you are sleeping!! LOL. There are also some little tiny lizards outside on the walls. Lots of birds. But that's about all of the wildlife I saw while we were there. They had Ketle One Vodka, and Grey Goose Vodka hidden under the bar (not on display - probably to try and use the cheap stuff as much as possible). I got upset one day because due to my allergy those were the only brands they had that I could drink and they ran out. They had some later on magically. The resort store had everything we needed except for socks. The sunscreen was expensive, everything else I'd say was normally priced. The WiFi is free and everywhere on the grounds and works GREAT. LOVED IT. Major positive to this place!!!!!! Wedding Review: The contact person I corresponded with via email before my arrival was very helpful and promptly answered any questions I had regarding the wedding planning. Her name was Virginia H. I really appreciated her professionalism and help. The coordinators I met with on site in charge of my wedding were also great - I loved Gabby and Ilians. They were super nice and sweet and genuine and tried to accommodate me in everything I asked for. They set up my decorations beautifully and executed my music selections well throughout the entire wedding and reception when they were there. I guess the only things about the wedding I wasn't fond of was the minister, and that my husband didn't get to watch the wedding party enter the ceremony (they told him to keep his back turned so that he could turn around when I entered), and I didn't get to spend time with my dad for a few minutes before he walked me down the aisle - probably because I asked them to have the photographer capture his reaction to seeing me. Oh well - it all worked out alright. The minister seemed to be nervous and unprepared like they asked him to do the ceremony last minute. I know it was supposed to be a woman, so I'm not sure what happened there. It went okay though, the guests said they didn't really notice. The breakfast in bed was REALLY GOOD and the candlelit dinner on the beach was nice too. The Photography - I picked the Caribe Photo which is one of the required photographers through the resort. I loved the photographer David, I think he is the manager of the company. He was very very nice and genuine person. I do wish in hindsight, I had asked for more specific schedule of which pictures are when and which exact shots I was wanting before we took pictures. He did well to accommodate my requests when we were doing them, but I guess it's my fault to not have specified more specifically which pictures I was looking for. Also, I can see that the ones they've sent have some editing, but not a lot. I feel like the package description should discuss what editing is included and what is not. Overall: I would recommend this resort, the wedding package, and the photographer. However, in regards to the resort I'd say make sure you are aware of what all you are getting and bring lots of tip money. There's so much more I could discuss. Feel free to message me with any specific questions if you are looking to travel there.
We had an excellent time here. Traveled with our 8.5 month old and we were blown away by the service, quality and how the workers here seemed to genuinely care that we were well taken care of. They are truly tireless workers who seem to take great pride in there work. It is a very well maintained facility. Dinner on the beach was great!! Really neat to take part in some traditional Mexican foods along with the live musicians made it feel very authentic. They do not offer snorkeling gear off of the beach which was a disappointment... but they were able to get me a set to use for the week which really shows how much they care for everyone to be happy and well taken care of. Would highly recommend this resort
What a difference a day makes! Lovely day yesterday but today we need to see & listen to crowds of drunks at the adult section in the pool and that is at 2pm in the afternoon. The swim up bar is not an attraction unless you want to listen to swearing and watch people staggering about. We are all here to have a good time but some take it too far. It is supposed to be a high standard resort but nobody is dealing with it.
I had such a beautiful experience at this hotel before that we decided to come back. Never again... We have complained a few times and still nothing. So I'm writing this while still here. Everyone talks about the food being beautiful here... we can't even get into the restaurants .., half are closed for maintenance and we have been forgotten by servers. In fact my son didn't eat his food tonight because our waiter thought we were less important than someone who ordered a crab dinner. And my minibar has yet to be stocked since I got here, so it was a good thing we brought snacks for the kids. You come here for the convenience of the kids... but this place no longer cares. In fact security has yet to recognize the screaming going on by adults in the family suite area (it's been going on for over an hour). Enough is enough. Spend your money elsewhere.
By far the best all inclusive resort we've ever been to! We had two kids with us (5 & 2) and they loved it as well. The Nickelodeon centre is great, they do lots with the kids, my oldest asked to go every day. The food is fantastic! I am always preparing for meh food when I go to all inclusive resorts, but this was unreal. All the servers were so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Noel and Antonio from Blue were our favorites. They knew ours and our kids names by day two. We came with family, there were a lot of us there, and they knew all our names. We didn't even have to ask for our mimosas at breakfast in the morning if Antonio was working, as he just knew to bring them. Pools were all very clean, as were the rooms. I honestly can't really think of anything negative to write. Highly recommend.
Azul Beach is hands down the best place I’ve ever stayed! The staff was genuinely happy to help with whatever we wanted and went above and beyond with things I wouldn’t have thought to ask for. By day three a lot of the staff knew our names. Our wedding coordinator Gabby was so cool and friendly it made the whole experience stress free. EVERYTHING we ate was top notch! Entertainment was impressive. If you want to feel like royalty, go experience Azul Beach resort and check out Chichen Itza while you’re there! Unforgettable.
we upgraded to a beach front location, ground floor, so there could not possibly be any complaining The restaurants and their food was first class, excellent! There was always people cleaning, everywhere, everything, the place was spotless! Erick at Latino provided us with an outstanding evening, we had a toddler and a 3 yr old with us
This hotel is for food lovers. All restaurant are amazing including the snack bar at the beach. I loved their ceviche of octopus. The pools are great but I was disappointed that the pool bar and pool in front of the beach close earlier (5pm). Great for wedding groups and familie for young babies. I tought the children club was not well located not close to adult installation. The gin bar is AMAZING !! . Tres pres de playa del carmen
This resort was amazing and the people who work there are amazing as well. They were very friendly and helpful. Resort food was good, we mainly enjoyed the breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel resort.
