Tiny room, smelt of smoke, view of a wall. Had to walk a lot to get to room and take 2 lifts...not good for families. Pool out of order, cold jacuzzi and very limited information in the room. Don't go!
This is now a part of the Choice hotel chain. Good location that is a short ( and safe) walk to several restaurants and a park that seemed to always have some fun and interesting activity going on. It's a short and inexpensive public bus ride to the famous beach areas, and a $10 to $15 taxi to the domestic airport.
The hotel is very well located in Botafogo. Near the metro station and a lot of restaurants. The apartment had a very spacious suite, a living room and a kitchenette, so you feel like living there. The service is very good and they keep everything clean. Room-service is quick and have all kind of options to dine in the room. The pool is small for the amount of people that goes there, especially families with small kids. Breakfast at the restaurant is a buffet with a good variety of fruits and cakes. The staff is very helpful to provide directions and tips on where to go and what to do.
I stayed there for three days, the staff are really nice and helpful and very kind. Good location if you are going to work near by. The rooms are ok. When I arrived late on the Sunday evening the room was not made, there were no towels in the room so I went down and they gave me some pool towels. For some reason I could not call out of my room although I could be called from downstairs. There were two nearly empty water bottles in the fridge, so I let the reception know and told them I would not drink any of the drinks in the frigobar, they said they were very sorry, but the half empty bottles remained there for the three days.... On the second day when I arrived at 4pm they had not yet done my room (I left every day at 7:30 am to a conference). They could not yet charge me for my room so they wanted me to leave all my card details with them until (heaven knows when) they would charge my card, needless to say I gave them my email and told them to email the bill when they can charge me....
I always stay in the other MERCURE of Botafogo, but this time I decided to change. ROMM 3702: 3 an 4 MARCH Faulty air conditioner / Bathroom Ceiling with Leaks / Room outlet with an adapter attached to it. / No refrigerator replacement.
The hotel has a (relatively) good location, I mean it gives you the peace of mind of belonging to a known chain and offering you 10 minute ride to most of the attractions you want to see in Rio (OK, not most, but many) I have stayed here twice in July and the rooms were totally different, one very small "hole" and one larger apartment style room (supposedly I've had the same rate for both ...) The door of the apartment was like it would be falling off from its place, so I didnt have that extra feeling of security. The stuff was nice however and helpful. If I am to stay again in Rio in a Mercure I would maybe prefer the Mercure Botafogo Mourisco
POSITIVE: The best staff I have ever seem, reception people , the guy looking after the swimming pool it is are very friendly Breakfast it is very good Swimming pool has view to the Cristo 2 sauna AVERAGE: Location is not the best one, however you can get to copacabana, cristo, Pao de ACucar with USD7 to 10 by taxi the 2 bed has living room, but the living room it is very small. I would stay again
The Hotel is gut but can be improved: -sometimes the mensagens are not communicated to we guests: -Sometimes we guests do not receive packages that someone had brought for us: -the housekeeper is not well don every day: -in the restaurant is always lacking rot wine:
This hotel is in a great location. The rooms are really large and the staff are really friendly (even though we struggled to communicate a little). The food is good too. For the price it is definitely value for money.
Botafogo is not the most visited area in Rio de Janeiro, yet is very enjoyable and safe. I used many times this hotel, mainly for business trip, its location is very strategic, close to good restaurants, markets and to the subway. If you have a car it is a very good choice because they don't charge you any extra for parking. Breakfast is really nice and you can enjoy a beautiful view on Corcovado mountain. Rooms are bigger than average hotel of this price, which I especially enjoyed.
