Mercure Rio De Janeiro Arpoador Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is good. Rooms are good size apartments with small kitchens, a large TV/Work room and a bedroom. Bathroom is a litle small but shower is very good. Rooms need some maintenance; some curtains had holes in them and the blackout curtain is so far from the window frame that it let A LOT of light in. Good breakfast service and arpoador beach is only a couple hunderd meters away. Room service took a good 30 minutes to bring a ham&cheese sandwich. They need a quick review of their english language signs. Calling "penthouse apartments" COVERAGE is insane.
The room is very comfortable, with living room, bedroom, balcony and kitchen stuffs, the staff is lovely attentious and gentle, always able to help, good breakfast but the best for it is the location. Arpoador is a oasis between crowded Copacabana and Ipanema, very close both, so you can enjoy easily the best of Rio. You can go by walking to the beach that is almost a private beach because its location. And the hotel is inexpensive considering all these advantages
We wanted to organise lots of tours etc and our Portuguese is terrible. The staff rang and checked bookings and pickups for us. Thanks Daniel, Ariane and Phillips. We liked the space of having two rooms.
All the staff are well trained and superb. I was very surprised and happy from the moment of my check in to the check out experience - They were professional, efficient and friendly. The location of the hotel is great, you can choose your way to Ipanema or Copacabana beach either way on a walk distance; restaurants around are also great. The room was clean, with a good space, comfortable - all good. On the last day my friend and I ordered a pizza from the hotel menu, OMG this was just special. I wish we had a better view - my room was overlooking one construction site on the side of the hotel; the price is also a bit high, but this is Rio de Janeiro, so no surprise. The hotel deliver a sense of comfort and wellbeing, combined with a high level of respect to their customers, btw it is clear that staff were well prepared to ensure a gay friendly environment, which in our days is also a special touch. I hope to have the opportunity to come back to this hotel in the future.
I staid in March. The hotel is fine the room was nice. Services are poor (restaurant only for breakfast). My room had bedbugs. I noticed only too late. I send a complaint on accorhotels' website and received an sorry not sorry email from the hotel to tell me next time they'll try to give me a better experience. During my trip in South America I staid in 4 hôtels from accorhotels group. I have a gold status on their loyalty program. It was one of my worst experience in the last decade (despite many travels accross the globe in 40+ different countries)
I have been staying there whenever I am in Rio for the last 10 years. Obviously it is a good value, but more than anything I really like the location. The last two times, however, I wasn't very happy as the rooms I was given were substandard. Also the wifi doesn't work too well which is a no-go for me on a business trip. They make up for it with the staff's friendly attitude and a good breakfast buffet. I probably should look for other options but I might just end up going back there ...
I am a frequently visitor of Rio. This hotel was very good. Location is perfect and staff is friendly. The room could be a little bit more cozy but it's fine anyway. The neighborghood is Arpoador, which means you are 5 minutes walk from either Copacabana or Ipanema. Perfect.
It's hard to think of a better place to stay in Rio de Janeiro than this region between the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Ipanema. The hotel, though, has problems. The staff was always very polite and attentive, but several little and medium problems occurred during the stay. From the lousy breakfast improvised while the kitchen was being refurbished (and that kept its original and way too high cost even under these circunstances) to the Nespresso capsules that took three days of requests to be delivered in our room, it was impossible not to notice that the hotel is being badly managed. Plus, the room had a weird and a bit sickening smell. As the location is so good, I'd probably give it another try some day. But I would do it with a certain fear.
The location is great....between Ipanema and Copacabana. The staff was super-friendly and very helpful. The room was a decent size with separate lounge and a small kitchen. Rates were very high over New Year but an included beakfast and a bottle of sparkling wine for New Year's Eve were nice touches. The public areas are newly done and look good. Definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.
We stayed at the Mercure Arpoador for 2 nights. The hotel is located at the edge of Copacabana and Ipanema and both are easily accessible from here. The staff of the hotel is fantastic and probably the best thing about the hotel and everyone can speak English. Danielle in reception was just par excellence. We had our room on the 7th floor in the corner. There is a weird smell in the corridor as there seems to be no ventilation. The rooms are big but outdated. The linen was fresh and we did have a good nights sleep. Rooms need improvement as the walls seem cracked in a few places and the wooden tables and other bits need polish. The bathroom was quite crammed and had very basic toiletries. Something was leaking which was constantly flooding the bathroom but no one seemed to be able to fix it. You have to call for an iron or any other necessities as they do not stock it in the room. We also got had breakfast included in our rate which pre dominantly had a bread selection with some fruits and cereals. Wifi in the room was aweful, never managed to get on. The hotel can help organise some great day tours of Rio and I highly recommend checking is at the reception. If the rooms can be improved this can be a great place to live in Rio.
