The hotel was very comfortable, clean, good location. They have a fabulous tour booking service, easy to find out info and easy to book. Picked up and dropped off right outside the hotel for both airport transfers and day trip tours. Breakfast was included, buffet style and was very tasty, good start to the day. I especially liked the porridge. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.
My two friends and I stayed for two nights at Hotel Klettur. It has a great location, garage parking and was perfectly comfortable. It was about a 15 minute walk downtown, and they had lots of tours leaving right from the hotel lobby. I'd definitely stay here again. Next time, I might even take advantage of their car rental program for added convenience. Check in time was very firm for us, the earliest they could do was 3 PM. Keep that in mind, in case you have a really early flight.
Hotel was nice for our 6 night stay. Rooms are clean and good views from the top floor rooms with a balcony. Staff were helpful & friendly on Reception. The breakfast was very basic. Only porridge as hot option. Everything else was cold with fruit/cheese/ham/bread. It would of been nice to have a hot breakfast, especially before a full day excursion.
We stayed here Wednesday to Sunday last week, we booked through Iceland air, flights were superb. We arrived at the hotel we smiled at the reception staff and they smiled back they are so very helpful. We too asked for extra pillows, they came straight away, tea, coffee, kettle etc. in the room, the room was lovely and warm and the shower was toasty hot just what you need after a full day out. Breakfast had everything we needed the staff in there were smiley and helpful too. We were promptly collected from reception for our trips, blue lagoon, whales, northern lights and golden circle all the trips were fab. Look out online for the 'free walking tour on a Saturday afternoon we had Sara she was very knowledgeable but funny to, we tipped her very well, we loved that couple of hours with Sara. All in all a great first trip, thanks Iceland air and the Kletteur xxx
great little hotel, within walking distance of the main street and just around the corner from a grocery store (and Devitos which is a great pizza place) Nice, helpful staff. Solid breakfast (European style; meat, cheese, bred/toast, coffee, fruit/veg, cold cereals) with good serving hours (7-10am) will even pack you a breakfast if you have to depart from your flight very early. comfy beds, pillows were a little inconsistent, my bed had a rather firm memory-foam type pillow and my mothers had a quite flat regular pillow, but they were happy to give us more. 24hr check in and a tour desk to set up or confirm your tours for you. Added bonus: All our tours picked us up right at the hotel, some downtown hotels are on routes the buses aren't allowed on so they had to go to stops to be picked up, but they are able to pull right up to Klettur. Views from the rooms seemed like they mostly looked over the small barren courtyard towards the other wings room, but stepping out into the hallway gave a beautiful view over the bay from our wing. There is also a luggage storage room to leave your things if checkout (or check in) don't line up with your flight. Will definitely stay again.
We booked the hotel through Iceland Air Holidays. Iceland can be expensive but for what we paid was very impressed with the Hotel Klettur. Room was clean and warm. Bed was comfortable and there was tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was good (continental style) The bar was a plus - alcohol in Iceland is very expensive so it made going to the bar during Happy Hour a must (around £8 for 2 pints of lager) 5-10 minutes walk from the main shopping area and well located in a quiet side street. Overall was a very pleasant experience and would certainly use this hotel again. Previous comments have indicated that the reception were unhelpful - on the contrary we found them very welcoming and helpful when we had a small problem.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms had everything we needed and were comfortable and very clean. The hotel is in a great position as it is off the main roads so it is quiet at night but still with a short walk (less than 5 mins) to lots of restaurants and the shopping street. Tour companies also offer a pick up service for the tour right outside the hotel which is very convenient. You can also book tours and buy souvenirs here as the hotel has its own tour desk. The lady on the tour desk, I think her name is Sara, is really lovely and welcoming and helpful. She helped us book a last minute tour to see the Northern Lights with the Gray Line tour company she recommended and we managed to see them which was amazing. The other staff that serve breakfast are also very nice and helpful and reception were friendly enough in our experience. Breakfast is good which a large selection of all sorts of fruit, porridge, yogurt, cereal, pastries, toast, cheese, ham etc. and juice and tea or coffee is available. We would for sure stay again when we return to Iceland.
Was received at the reception. Check in was easy and stay was comfortable. The travel desk was very helpful and the reception too helped and ensured I had breakfast before I left. Ot’s about a 10 -15 min walk into the main streets of downtown.
This hotel was booked for us as part of a package by a travel company after we specified that we wanted medium price accommodations. Our first impression of the hotel was not great when we checked in. Very unfriendly front desk receptionists who don't look at you, speak or even acknowledge that you're standing there until at least a little time has passed. Thankfully the people who work the concierge/activity planning area are exactly the opposite, friendly and outgoing. Rooms were basic and had everything we needed. Bath towels were tiny but we managed ok. Our room was very warm, but since it was 50 degrees outside all we needed to do was crack a window and we were fine. We did notice a slight odor to the bathroom, most likely due to the geothermal hot water that is used everywhere in Iceland. You get used to the smell after a little while. Location was perfect for us. Walking distance from all the famous sites we wanted to visit as well as from restaurants, convenience stores, and shopping. The only taxi I used the entire five days was to go to the gym/pool. Breakfast was ok. Hard boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, tomatoes, herring, bread, one kind of cheese, and some sort of salami. Not the most mouth watering, but does the job and fills you up with a nice well balanced meal. Tea and coffee also available. Downstairs bar and lounge area was quite comfortable and a fun place to hang out at have a beer. I would stay here again if I was able to still get a reasonable price.
We spent six days Hotel Klettur and found it to be a good, clean, hotel that served our needs. Don't expect to check to check in until the afternoon-- they have lounges to rest. I found the breakfast buffet to be adequate and filling. The rooms are small, but functional. Bathroom was giant. My biggest surprise was that the staff were not more friendly. They were very helpful, but I don't think I saw one smile. I would recommend.
