The hotel is near the seashore walk. It is near the shopping area. There is a supermarket at the back. The breakfast buffet is ample but the same every day. The staff is pleasant. However, I agree with many other guests that complain about no full shower door or curtain. This leads to puddles in the toilet area. This should be addressed right away.

It was an ok stay. Breakfast served is always the same everyday. TV not working so we have to a different room. And then the TV is stopping on and off so we got tired of calling them because we don’t want to be moved again. The good thing is it’s close to downtown- restaurants, shopping etc

Nice place-- family room nice option bc has two separate bedrooms within one room. Outside hotel doors are a bit dinged up but inside room is fresh and clean. Awesome breakfast!

I made an excellent choice in staying at the Fossbaron. Clean, very quiet, efficient and courteous staff. The breakfast was ample with a varied assortment of options. The location was great. An easy walk to the BSI Terminal, a Bonus supermarket and a convenience store, the Laugavedur shopping district, downtown with various attractions. Only drawback was the small shower with a curtain that when wet keeps sticking to you-I'd recommend changing to a harder plastic curtain. Good wifi and TV with BBC in evenings. Price was excellent value. Highly recommend.

Nice hotel close to the ocean walkway. Most tour operators pickup and dropoff at the hotel - major reason why we booked. Great breakfast included in price of stay. Lacked good shower facility, micowave in room. Not many good restaurants within close proximity.

Great location, close to the waterfront and nice walking/biking trail along the waterfront. 2 blocks from the main shopping street (Laugavegur). Good breakfast buffet considering how expensive dining is in the entire country.

Very basic hotel given pricing, even when factoring in higher prices in Iceland, as well as a last minute booking. Staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean and tidy. Beds had very thin mattresses that were unnecessarily basic and uncomfortable; I can't imagine more comfortable mattresses costing the hotel all that more, especially given the room rates being charged. The bathroom was dated and the shower was a generally unpleasant experience with a damp moldy smell and curtains that were so long that they blocked the drain. Free buffet breakfast was very good and despite comments in other reviews, I thought it was very comprehensive. Location is very central and it's a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants. Free parking is a great added benefit but beware that parking slots at the entrance to the hotel fill up fast and you may have to use the overflow lot up the hill around the back.

The staff were great and check in s snap... we had a nice room with an extra room with bed fir no extra charge as my son was traveling with me!!! Great place would recommend it!!! Iceland is full of great people and is very easy to travel there !!!

Value for money. Very clean, huge rooms, good breakfast selection.

The staff is absolutely wonderful. They were so helpful and so friendly. I cannot say enough good things about them. The room was fairly comfortable. We had 3 people in the suite room, and the 3 of us had more than enough room. If we had more people, however, we might have been a bit cramped, as there is only 1 bathroom. I found the beds to be a bit uncomfortable, but to be fair the other people I was with didn't seem to mind them as much as I did. Overall the room was very clean. There were some dust bunnies under the bed, but the surfaces that I touched everyday were very clean. The bathroom was always clean and the shower was quite amazing. If you stay here, it is a good idea to get the continental breakfast. There is a wide assortment of food (I stayed for 4 nights and had something different for breakfast every morning) and the food is very, very good. Seeing how expensive things are in Reykjavik, we saved a ton of money by having breakfast at the hotel. In sum, my experience was pleasant and overall good. For the price paid, this was a very good value and I am very satisfied. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to a friend.

The location is very convenient - everything around is very easy to get to! The hotel staff was so nice and the breakfast was a perfect start to the day.

I had booked travel and lodging through Orbitz and was happy to stay at Kvosin Hotel. Several days later, I was told that hotel was fully booked. Fosshotel Baron was to be a similar hotel close to Kvosin. However, while Kvosin was a 4 star hotel in a quaint neighborhood, FossHotel Baron was in a much different neighborhood and was, at best, a 3 star experience. It was not at all close to the neighborhood we initially chose. The hot water reeked of sulfur such that we smelled worse after showering than we did beforehand. The staff was fine but not friendly or particularly helpful. The breakfast selection was good. I truly feel we deserve monetary compensation as this hotel was obviously significantly inferior to our original choice, upon which our price was quoted.

The staff was friendly and even allowed us to store our luggage all day after check out while we went on our all day excursion. The hotel room itself was very disappointing as the red/pink carpet was beyond dated and dirty with old stains. We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was spacious but just felt “not fully clean” and very uncomfortable. Bathroom was old and I had to skip showering as I felt “dirty” just stepping in. On a positive note the complementary breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. Hotel is also close to bus stops 9 and 10, so makes it very convenient for booking excursions. We stayed for one night only, as we changed hotels to stay at Skuggi few doors down. Previous few days were spent at Reykjavik4you apartments which were much much better, more modern, spacious and most importantly cleaner! Also, do not lose your room key as there is a $50 lost key fee.

We arrived there at 5:00 a.m., obviously, way before the check-in time, and they were able to check us into our room, despite the early hour. In addition, they also upgraded our room free of charge. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The beds were amazing, and I never slept as good as I did there.

Hotel is in a great location! Friendly staff and very accommodating.

It is an older hotel, but kept up and clean. Our room was small, but had everything we needed. Decor was unique to Iceland. The breakfast buffet was quite good with both hot and cold food and plenty of it. We found the staff very friendly especially the young man on night duty. They were very helpful with arranging a tour for us and making sure we had our airport pickup.

Good location . Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Tours can also pick you up here . Breakfast is good ... plenty of choices including hot items (eggs, sausage , potatoes ). This is good savings as food is expensive in Reykjavik.

Looking at the pictures, it seemed alot more modern. I was surprised to see the older carpet and older condition in the hallways overall. However, the breakfast is exceptional, and amazing, which makes up for it. Rooms are on the smaller side. We had an amazing view of the harbor, but the water smell was pretty strong. I wish they had food for purchase at lunch and dinner because it was a hassle to leave in the evenings to grab food, after a long day and just wanting to rest.

Nicer than it looks on entry. The breakfast was fine, and the room clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. A good value.
