This is a great hotel if you will be spending most of your time exploring the area, as the the rooms are small. But they are also nice, clean and comfortable.

Easy check in, property shares amenities with Hampton which is attached by a hallway. Breakfast, gym, and pool sit in Hampton. Free parking and breakfast are a perk. Lobby includes game room that has pool table and board games. Close proximity, approximately 2 minute drive, walking distance to strip mall that has restaurants and shopping (ex: Scheels, Old Chicago Pizza, TJ Maxx, Etc). Walmart behind the building for anything you may have forgotten.

Tru by Hilton and Hampton Inn & Suites are connected properties, and share front desk staff. We got to Tru to see a note at the front desk to go to Hampton to check-in. We walked over to Hampton to see a note saying staff were busy and to call a number to reach someone. There was quite a line in the lobby waiting for assistance, and someone called the number to be told they'd be another 10 minutes. There were 2 staff standing in the office off the front desk area just watching us. They appeared to be maintenance people, but not able to assist anyone. Some people just needed towels so if they'd at least asked what everyone needed they could have helped some of us. And if you're that short staffed, at least cross train the people you do have so everyone can check-in guests and give new keys. The rooms aren't comfortable. They've tried to do that trendy minimalism cool colors thing, but the end result is awkward rooms. The "closet" is a rod that comes out of the ceiling and hangs over the fridge, so you can't hang pants or dresses without draping over the fridge, and there's not much room since the bar is about 1.5' wide. The beds have a platform frame that sticks out about 2" on all sides, so it's uncomfortable to sit on the beds with your legs off the sides - the frame digs into your legs. The elevators smell really bad. A weird industrial smell. If you're sensitive to smells, you'll want to plug your nose. Want to say more but limited to 1500 characters.

Liked everything about the property

Close to airport and services.

Clean hotel. Breakfast was good. Beds were a little hard.

Room was nice but small.

A nice newer hotel with a clean comfortable room and a good shower. The breakfast was good, hot and more than adequate. Staff was friendly and the hotel is conveniently located near a variety of dining options. Our favorite was the Firehouse Brewing Company, which was a short drive away. The only issue, that did not effect our stay, was recent hail storm damage that was being repaired.

New hotel conveniently located to shopping and I-90.

It wasn't clean at all and lady at the desk was swamped and all alone

Didn't like the room cleansing Didn't like the pillows Great service at front desk

Very welcoming staff - modern and clean facility. Will come again!

Felt more like a dorm room than a hotel, which may be what this brand is going for. Bedding was not tucked in and there were visible dried blood stains on the sheets. My Partner overheard housekeeping talking about it which leads me to think they were aware of this and it was not isolated. Hairs present in bedding too. This was part of a camping trip so we ended up sleeping in our sleeping bags on top of the bedding. Pretty amazing a property this new could have these problems already.

Close to shops. Dining areas. Interstate-90. Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park,/Black Hills.

Amazing! I want to know where you get your pillows from!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. First, please accept my sincerest apologies for the issues you encountered upon check in. Our staff is still aiming to provide the best possible experience for our guest that you have come to know and love from Hilton. I will be speaking with our staff regarding the wait time and other inconveniences experienced upon check in. We will speak with the individual employees that were in the office and provide additional training so that all employees can provide the best service possible for all guests. We want our guest to know they are top priority, and this is unacceptable. TRU by Hilton focuses on a more minimalist style, so the rooms are more streamlined and to save space certain amenities like a dresser are not available. Instead, Tru provides hooks around the room as well as the rod above the fridge. That being said, I would invite you to try the Hampton Inn & Suites during your next visit as the rooms may be more suited for your comfort. I will also ensure that our maintenance team is aware of the smell in the elevators and address any issues that may be present. Thank you again for your honest feedback and We hope to see you soon!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. With the Tru brand, yes the rooms are a bit smaller than other Hilton brands by design.
