Tinidee Hotel @ Ranong4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at Tinidee Inn (the budget half of tinidee hotel). The rooms are basic with clean double beds and good air conditioning. A room fridge stocked with food and drinks was useful and was also nice as we could put our own water inside too. The room tv was old but functional. Good lighting in the room. Despite tinidee inn being the budget hotel we still got full use of the facilities at tinidee Hotel including the large swimming pool, hot springs and jacuzzi. There is a steak buffet every night starting at 6pm. This is great value for money with unlimited food. They offer white fish, steak and chicken along with a variety of pasta dishes cooked fresh and western sides. The salad bar is great. No dessert menu! We had to explain what a dessert was to the waiters, no big deal but it would have been nice. We visited the Ranong mangrove biosphere. Definitely worth visiting to see a mangrove forest and perfect for wildlife lovers (see attached photos). Great fresh produce market a 5 minute walk away from the hotel, this is well worth a visit to see local Thai culture. We used this hotel as a stopover before travelling on to Ko Phayam and Bangkok. There is a taxi shop right next door to Tinidee inn which offer reasonable prices with a little bargaining! Friendly staff at the taxi shop too. A good budget hotel in a good location.
We stayed here for 1 night, we just waited the boat to go to Koh Phayam the next day. We take a trip inside the structure and everything was simple for the price that we paid especially the breakfast was very basic without many choices.
This was ok for a few days stay, if I was staying long I probably won’t choose this hotel. Don’t get me wrong the staff were great, friendly and helpful. The rooms were big,and it took the old air conditioning a very long time to cool the room down. The rooms were clean, but lighting wasn’t great. WiFi was most of the time useless until you go to the door or just outside the room. Had to use 4G most of the time. Great swimming pool, but could us the jacuzzi as it was to hot noticed the sign saying 42-47. Only would give it 🌟🌟 😩😩
The place is good and clean they provide the free transportation from the pier. Inside the structure there is a nice SPA with a huge swimming pool. We spent here only one night just to wait the boat to visit Koh Phayam. Probably if I will come back in Ranong I will come back here
I didn't stay on this visit, buying a day pass instead allowing me use of the fitness centre and pool. I have mixed feeling about this one, given that it comes with all the bells and whistles, pool, facilities etc., but its house restaurant is woefully empty. On both nights, I was the only diner and this was the case last year when I actually stayed. With that said, there is a nightly b-b-q on hand and a number of folks take advantage of that. Front desk staff is still trying hard to please but not quite getting it.
Decent lobby, spacious and comfortable room, good restaurants, beautiful yard, free airport and hotspring transfer, diligent staff, gym and swimming poor and jacuzzi.... My misfortune was my room was one of the connecting room, and my neighbor happened to need an early departure I guess. So, instead of enjoying a natural wakeup after a whole week of liveaboard and before a night flight, I was suffering from the noise behind the connecting doors from very early in the morning, being able to tell when they shaving and brushing and having breakfast and packing. Then finally they went. Back to unprotected sleep? No way. In only a very short while the super loud buzz drove me mad again. I rushed out of my room and found it was the boy staff doing room cleaning with a huge vacuum..... Another tip is you need to remind the staff of any extra services even though you have booked them. The driver said he'd pick me up at 5pm from the hotspring but it was until 5:10 when I had to call the hotel that they realized I was forgotten. And upon arrival I showed the clerks my departure flight time to reschedule the airport dropoff service since the flight was changed. But they just didn't consider my words and still refered to the original schedule they printed out sometime before to ask me to depart 3 hours in advance (in fact I received the flight changed email notice 3 days back). Fortunately on the next day an more experienced lady clerk unstood my request and gave me a new arrangement.
We stayed one night on the way through Ranong to a dive boat. We had originally booked the Tinidee Inn (which is essentially next door but cheaper) but were told they were full so they had booked us a room in the hotel instead. We didn't mind since the price remained the same. Originally we had asked the Inn about an airport pickup, but since they didn't reply, we took a local taxi (30 mins, 50 baht per person, expect to share!) which was easy enough. The hotel offers everything you expect from this kind of hotel- the pool was nice, reliable wifi and the room was comfortable and clean. Our booking didn't include breakfast, which was 220 baht per person and there was a good selection of different food (western and thai). The hotel staff were happy and helpful- they had enough English to answer our questions. There are free trips to the hot springs organised by the hotel, but since we were passing through we didn't visit. After check-out, we sat round the pool in the shade- the shop/ restaurant didn't seem to be serving so we nipped down the road to a local shop to pick up water.
I only used this hotel with a daypass, I did not spend the night, however, it was one of the most ridiculous experiences I've had in Asia, very surprising for Thailand, but honestly in the end it all worked out. First, I found the level of English at this hotel extremely low, especially for Thailand. It took us going upstairs, then downstairs, then back upstairs in order to pay for the daypasses to the pool. When I wanted to exchange money, I was told that they didn't have any Baht. I've had problems exchanging back to dollars, but I've never had a problem trying to exchange dollars into local currency. I tried to pay for my food with a credit card, but I hadn't bought enough and they wouldn't hold my bill open for the next few hours as I was also expecting to have dinner there. It all worked out in the end and I spent a lovely afternoon by the pool after coming from Myanmar and before heading out on my flight to Bangkok. I'm not sure if I would keep my sanity staying the night here though.
After our Myanmar visit we stayed at Tinidee Hotel for one night before our flight back to Bangkok. It’s a good older style hotel with good pool area and hot springs (but who needs a 40-50 degree bath in 35 degree temperatures) it has a good setup to purchase tours in the local area which is better than other local hotels It’s location is a bit of an issue it’s only 5 minutes to the market but at night restaurants are a bit of a walk about 10 minutes in very dark dodgey surrounds which forces you to use the hotel restaurant or the affiliated Japanese place next door. Overall I’d recommend this place for a nights stay maybe 2 at most but look for others closer to restaurants if staying beyond 1 night is my suggestion. Free airport transfer is fantastic and a huge plus it creased the rating I gave by 1. Saved time arranging and was very very comfortable.
Probably the biggest hotel in Ranong, and although it is somewhat old, it still offers a wide range of facilities, good friendly efficient service, and spacious, well-appointed rooms. Two bonuses are the restaurant, which has a steak buffet 199 baht ($6), as well as being a good place for a relaxed lunch or for the breakfast buffet; and the swimming and spa facilities, which include a large lap pool, jacuzzi, and best of all, four baths with hot spring water from the out of town hot springs (I have even seen their truck load up water from the hot springs). They even provide free trips for guests to the hot springs, with a scheduled shuttle. There is massage spa on site, and even things like internet linked computers. The hotel represents good value at around $40-50. Location is not far from the centre of town, and convenient for most things.
