Budget-friendly
Ranau Backpackers Hostel is in the center of town, and since Ranau is such a small town, food & stores are all within walking distance. It’s also right across from the central market. I stayed in a twin room with private bathroom good for a solo traveler like me. The A/C in the room worked well, as well as WiFi, and overall the room was good, except the bed / mattress was too hard & hence not comfortable; the same goes for the pillow. There’s self-serve breakfast, which consists of coffee, tea, bread and jam. You can also make coffee or tea all day. The staff here is super friendly, esp. Jacinta, who helped me get a ride to Poring Hot Springs as well as point out the bus stops to Kinabalu Park and towards Sandakan. Overall, this is a good budget place to stay, esp. for backpackers. Good for a 2-night stay.

Budget Hostel
We stayed in this hostel for a night and it is located in the Ranau town itself ..The location is very convenient as about three minutes walk to a supermarket which you can get all things you needed such as food, drink, toiletries and etc..There are a lot of eatery shops around too...But the down side of this hostel is that the room wall is not sound proof..We can hear people talking and door banging even at around mid night time...For those light sleepers, I would not recommend this hostel but if you are on a budget trip, this would be value for money...
