Recently we stayed at this inn and we were very pleased with our room and the friendly hotel staff. Ifeyinwa made me an excellent delicious breakfast, scrambled eggs with spinach and onions and served with homemade pumpkin coffee cake.
Great location next to Duke east campus. Unbelievably clean and spotless. Very large exceptionally well furnished rooms with comfortable bedding and very stylish bathrooms. Very quiet. Breakfast included in price was very good. Friendly staff. A++ place to stay.
We were passing through Durham and needed a hotel for one night. Wow! It was a terrific experience, and I was sorry to leave. The staff is friendly, and the 17 rooms are all lovely. The rooms are left open if no one has checked in, so you can peek around a bit. They deliver the port and chocolates early (5:30ish), so ask for yours if you check in later. Our family of four was in the large Farthing Suite, and my boys were pleased to have a room to themselves. I enjoyed drinking a glass of wine on the sun porch, and I had coffee in the parlor the next morning. Breakfast is delicious, with lots of options. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and it’s easy to walk around the Duke campus, too. We ate at Goorsha, an Ethiopian restaurant (yum!).
I was looking forward to enjoying a B&B stay and it looked great on the website, but once there King’s Daughter did not live up to what it could be. Frankly, it feels like the owner’s have not quite finished or have finished an d have taken their eye off the ball. The receptionist was nice enough and front hall was beautiful, but my room had plaster peeling off the walls, no good plug ins for electronics, drawers that are not balanced to stay closed (they hit your knees as you shave), there was no Holy Bible in the room and the breakfast was just OK. A little bit of time, effort and pride in their offering and the owner’s could make this a place that could really do wonders. But as is, it is not worth the stay.
Ready for time travel? This is the place. Old house for guests with a unique Decore (art nouveau) and an amazing story, the place was a retirement home for old woman. So you can find ghost, but good ones that will love your visit. The staff is very nice, you end up knowing everyone and feel at home. Ok no bar and only breakfast but you can walk and have great options near by and an amazing park across the street. We travelers, have to make sure this kind of hotels remain open to remains us all that time passes and there área a few entrepreneurs that invest in freezing a little peace of time in this wonderful, and I am sure very hard to maintain, just beautiful place. So come along you will enjoy a way different place from the normal hotel I use all the time.
Beautifully appointed with antiques and art, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is superb and the special changes every day. Baked goodies, tea, and coffee are available throughout the day and you can order a bottle of wine or a whisky to relax in the spacious lounge in the evening. Conveniently located adjacent to Duke University’s East Campus (which has a walking/running trail around the perimeter), it’s a 15 minute walk to downtown and eateries, 10 minute walk to Whole Foods and 9th St. Good place for an extended stay - would happily stay there again any time we’re in Durham.
Be prepared for an AMAZING experience from check in to checkout! The rooms are super unique, the shower pressure is out of this world & the customer service was impeccable. A special shout out to Robert for the port & chocolate room service!
The exterior and parking area are underwhelming when you first arrive at this B&B but as soon as you enter through the front door you are home. Very personable, and helpful service throughout our stay including a late night preparation of soup in the kitchen for one of my sons who was ill. The turn down service is sweet (chocolates) and a splash of liquor make for a nice night's sleep. I especially enjoyed working from the sun porch early in the morning, I felt so at home, I worked in just my socks! Breakfast is incredible, made to order and absolutely delicious. The homemade granola, scones and biscuits available in the self-serve area are not to be missed.
Lovely rooms with the softest sheets ever, genuinely attentive staff that goes above and beyond to make everything perfect. GREAT made-to- order breakfast each morning! Convenient location- within walking distance of most everything.
Nothing can compare. Top notch accommodations, beautiful inn, and the service is impeccable. Cara who checked us in was the most helpful, kind and friendly person. And Rebecca who made us a delicious breakfast could not have been nicer. We cannot wait to come back to the area to stay again. This will be our go to place from now on. Thank you.
