Welcome to our BRAND NEW modern Durham Home, born in 2022 this beauty was born to please . Featuring 3 bedrooms one being a master with an en suite. Our vision with this property was always clear, we wanted to combine all our favorite features and memories from various Airbnb, Vrbo and vacation home stays around the world under one roof. We hope that we have accomplished just that, and we are always grateful for any recommendations and tips that could help us further achieve this goal.

Private parking for *2 cars* on our gravel lot behind the home !

We recently added a new and comfortable Pack n play with an extra mattress, a high chair , and an infant bath . To aid with our traveling parent guests , something we truly appreciated during our travels !

House was very clean and had lots of space. The layout was very family-friendly. Also, having 3 bathrooms was greatly appreciated. Nice touch with the N-64 gaming console. Definitely recommend.

Overall this was a good place to stay, but I wouldn't say it was great. There were several things that, in our subjective experience, made this less than a five-star or four-star experience:When we arrived, a "low battery" alert was going off on a smoke alarm. We had to search around until we found a bag of smoke alarms stuffed into the laundry closet, and it took a half hour or so to figure out which one was causing the alarm, and remove the battery.Things in the home didn't feel nice & clean overall. The closets were messily organized. There was (*ahem*) short & curly hairs left in the shower drain. The walls were poorly painted and had some damage.There was a large, loud dog two houses down the street, and it was barking all day long.The neighborhood has a lot of trash around on the streets. Polyester sheets & blankets aren't very breathable or comfortable.The streetlights are very blue! Blue light is pouring in the windows at night, which is very bad for sleep & circadian rhythms.Highway is nearby, so there is some noise from the highway.I realize several of these things aren't the fault of the hosts, but they still affected our overall experience as guests. It's a very passable place, but not my favorite. So I think all in all, three stars gives an accurate description of this "good", but not "very good" or "great" experience.

As a frequent business traveler, I sometimes want the feel of home away from home, and the Modern Durham Retreat for the bill. The host was very kind, gracious, and quick to respond. The kitchen had all the necessities of home for cooking. The beds were comfortable, and the quick responses of the host was a reminder of what customer loyalty is all about. Great property!

Enjoyable Stay

This place is exactly as advertised. We stayed for a baseball showcase and it was perfect for our family. It had all the amenities you would need and if anything is forgotten I am sure the host thought of it and you can find it at the house. The welcome snack basket was a huge hit with my kids! The beds were comfy, rooms were clean, more than enough space for a family of 4, and private! Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Best Durham Stay

I was in town to support family for a serious hospital stay and needed somewhere close to Duke hospital that could also accommodate a family of 6. This location and property was perfect. As kids are not allowed to visit ICU patients, I felt secure, leaving them at the house. Richard made my stay easy and was a wonderful host. The extra care he took to make us feel welcome….so appreciated.
