Overall it was a nice relaxing place. Pros: The walk to the water was easy and a nice sitting area at the water. The water was good, no mud or dinge. View of the water was amazing, enjoyed watching the boat traffic from the house. The A/C worked great! It was 100 degrees a couple of days when we were there! Cons: The showerhead only worked about 1/2 way, very little water to wash hair, maybe showerhead needs replaced or cleaned. The hot water was limited. Ants on the kitchen counters - we made sure to keep all the food in sealed containers or in the fridge, ants happen certain times of the year.

Needs Work

We loved the location. The house sits beautifully on Claytor Lake with dock and direct access to the water. The house was clean, and we had everything we needed. All restaurants, stores, etc are @ 30min away. The queen bed is comfy, however, the King/twin is a thin futon mattress and would only be suitable for kids. It should be advertised as such. The biggest issue was the shower. There is literally NO water pressure and the hot water runs out quickly. We could not adequately shower. That was very frustrating since we were out on the lake daily, sunscreen, etc. We would not come back or recommend this place due to that alone. Also, the ceilings looked molded & dingy. Still, with a few simple fixes, this could be an amazing place. I really hope that this place will get the upgrades it needs to wow its future guests.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Overall, our stay was disappointing due to several issues that significantly affected our experience. We found broken glass on the path leading down to the lake. I had to make sure my kids wore shoes outside. The listing advertised a king bed, but it was actually a full-size trundle bed pushed against another bed to simulate a king. This left a noticeable seam down the middle, making it uncomfortable to sleep on, as your hip rests directly on the crease. The kitchen had a significant ant problem. We found large numbers of ants on the countertops throughout our stay despite repeatedly cleaning them up.The biggest issue was the bathroom. The shower water pressure was little more than a trickle, and the water only stayed lukewarm for about two minutes before turning cold. It wasn't practical for even a single child to take a normal shower, let alone multiple guests. This alone has soured us from any future bookings at this location. One tip for future guests: we discovered that if you turn the shower to full hot and also run the bathroom sink on hot, eventually the water heater in the basement starts knocking loudly, which seemed to indicate that warm water was finally making its way upstairs. At that point, turn off the sink and get into the shower immediately. You'll have a couple of minutes of lukewarm water before it turns cold again. While the location itself was nice and the views were beautiful, these issues had a major impact on our stay and we will not return.
