Inn On The Park2.5 out of 5.0

I'll start with the worst part: The room smells of urine, I don't think that's what it is because the room is clean. But it is really unpleasant, I almost switched hotel even though we prepaid for two nights. The staff was friendly and apologized, but they couldn't do anything about it and had no extra rooms. Not their fault. The rooms where very big. Outdated furniture but as long as it's clean I don't mind. It is 50m from the park and the beach.
We just happened to come across this hotel as we were leaving the park on a weekday They had a sign outside for walk in special, $60. Now, considering we had just paid $48 for a private room at a nearby hostel that did not include a private bath, a/c or beds that weren't bun beds in nature, we wanted to give this a shot. Oh my, how this was worth it! The room(s) are huge! Modern furniture, tv/cable, and lovely lovely cold as we needed it to be A/C. We also had this place to ourselves, which we just thought was insane. Other hotels were charging $160 a night. We paid $70 after taxes and had an amazing room, park access, beach access, and what turned into our own private pool since the only other guest were never seen or heard from. One last thing, on top of all the amenities; this place was quiet. It was off the main road and we didn't hear the constant roar of motor bikes and other loud cars gunning up the hilly road like we did at a hotel that was only $20 cheaper, but only 1/4th as nice Inn on the Park. Can't recommend this place enough.
My 11 year old son and I stayed here for 4 nights. It's a great location for sure. The hotel itself is fine... a few things are dated... like the wifi signal is weak, the TV and air conditioners are a bit old... but it is still a very comfortable place. The real gem here though is William, the lovely person who runs the desk. He really made our trip easy, he found all the options for onward travel for us and even booked our buses. He recommended a snorkeling trip in Uvita which was perfect. He made all sorts of other recommendations that really helped and all of them here exactly as he told us they would be. If you are planning a few days in MA I highly recommend sending him an email and he'll sort you out. Oh and we saw a toucan while we were in the pool here.
This place is in need of Repair. The beds need to be replaced. Very old and dirty. Sheets should be in the garbage along with the pillows. The rooms are a very good size but the entire place is just run down.
Although initially the reservation I booked online with Despegar overbooked the room and when I arrived I had no room. William at Inn on the Park was excellent, finding me another room for that night, and securing my booking for the following 3 nights. He also made sure I was looked after, booking a wonderful sailing trip in the bay, arranged personal taxi services ensuring I got to the airport on time. The hotel is literally on the doorstep to the park entrance, 300 meters from the beach and next door to restaurants, pubs and shopping. The rooms are clean and decent.
First off THANK YOU to William and the rest of the staff, you are GREAT. This hotel has super location!! It is great for going to the park, beach, shopping and lots of restaurants. The rooms are clean and nice size a/c was always cold. Only bad was the sofa bed it wasn't the best. All other beds were good. The breakfasts we got with our room was great, we went to two different places they sent us and both were really good. This is a nice little place and we will be back.
My boyfriend and I weren't even guests at this hotel but stopped in to ask for help with getting a shuttle from MA back to San Jose. William Vargas, who was working (although it was his day off) helped us out by personally calling the shuttle company, stayed on hold with them for over 30 minutes and then personally dropped off a printed confirmation a few hours later at our hostel. This was customer service at its finest. This man was a lifesaver :)
We had a great Memorial Day weekend at the Inn! Hernan and the staff were excellent, always willing to help with requests or recommendations. The location is perfect, close to the park and the beach, with various restaurants within walking distance. Our son loved the pool and it was a great place for us to relax and take a break from the beach. We will definitely be back!
My wife and I visited this hotel, to see about future accommodations. We prefer staying where there is a kitchen facility, so that we can save on the fees associated with eating out. We go to the local farmers market on friday evening to get fresh veggies, fish, and cheese, ect. Then we stay in a central location, as a home base, to explore the many attractions within a 100 km area. This hotel was clean, in a perfect area, within walking distance to many attractions. For this I give 5 stars.
Messed up reservation. Totally uncomfortable bed. Pull out couch broken, lumpy, unable to sleep on it. Smelly pillows and sheets. Basically STINKY PLACE. Breakfast consisted of cut up fruit, cheap fruit loops, and white bread to toast. We checked out the next day to find s better hotel. This place Stinks!
