Quepos fishing
Stayed 3 nights in April. We wanted a nice place to stay during our fishing trip to Quepos. This property was perfect. Itza was very helpful with all of our needs.

We stayed here for a week in January with a group of women. We enjoyed the being backed up to the jungle and wildlife, cooling off in the swimming pool and most of all we adored Itza! She made us feel so welcome, helped with all our questions and provided us with a delicious traditional breakfast each morning. We can’t wait to come back and stay with her again!
The photos do not accurately reflect the current condition of the property. The furniture and overall upkeep of the house were not nearly as good as the pictures suggest. Only three of the bedrooms were located inside the main house, which was not clearly communicated. We also experienced multiple issues with bathrooms not functioning properly. While the back of the house opens to a pleasant forested area, the front entry felt crowded and uninviting. In addition, the concierge and owner appeared to be frequently present on the property, which made the stay feel less private than expected.
We enjoyed the location and privacy of the home. The windows take advantage of the jungle views. We also enjoyed having our coffee on one of the many balconies the home offers and the pool is nice for a refreshing dip in the afternoon.
The best part of the stay was Itza and her warm welcomed she made sure our group was well taken care of providing tips, recommendations, helping arrange cabs, cooking breakfast and more. She made the stay and is the reason we will be back!
Positives: Beautiful, spacious house with two pools shaded by large trees. Manager was very helpful, including coordinating visit to nearby National Park. Beaches are beautiful, and National Park tour was very educational. House is located near restaurants and shops.
Negatives: House was difficult to find. Neighbor was noisy.
This is an amazing house in an amazing location. The property manager and staff were very nice and helpful. The house is a bit run down here and there (cabinets broken, screen doors broken, toaster not working well, dishwasher broken, etc) but in general, not so much we didn’t enjoy our stay. The property more than made up for it with its surrounding beauty and wildlife guests.
The property was exactly what we wanted. Plenty of room for everyone. The pool was a hit with the kids and adults alike as well as the balconies that overlooked the jungle. We saw so much wildlife right at the house including howlers, squirrel monkeys, macaws, capybara, lizards and iguanas. Our host, Itza was very helpful with all our questions and especially advice on where to go for dining and other adventures. She even arranged for a breakfast to be cooked at the house the next morning of our arrival. I can't say enough good things about this property. We would stay again if we ever have the chance.
We had a truly enchanted stay. I led an intimate yoga/meditation retreat at La Casa Encantada & every detail of the stay encouraged deep tranquility & supported the transformation necessary. Although the house is a bit far from the beach, there was always a cab (inexpensive) ready to take us to any one of the many beautiful beaches. The privacy is incomparable, we felt like we were in a bubble of bliss. The pool is gorgeous & we loved the outside kitchen surrounded by morpho butterflies, humming birds, parrots, monkeys. The rooms are elegant & spacious. You can fit a large group & still feel spacious. Itza was a joy (be sure to hire her to come & give your group massages) & was so helpful with all our needs. A little piece of heaven.
Our host, Itza, was fantastic-Quick to respond, helped set up tours (and got us cheaper prices), and gave great recommendations for restaurants and beach spots.
The property is gorgeous. Plenty of room for large groups. We spent lots of time down by the pool, which gives you a feeling of jungle seclusion.
The only drawbacks were it’s not small-child friendly. We had to watch my 1.5 yr old like a hawk to make sure he didn’t fall through railings on balcony/stairs. Also there is one very steep turn/road getting in, so I’d suggest having a 4 wheel drive SUV if you’re renting a car.
Very close to Manuel Antonio National park, restaurants, and the beach. All 5-10 minutes away, and a small store within walking distance, and Itza set us up with delivery of items as well if needed.
Enjoyed our visit and would stay again!
Second time renting a house in Manuel Antonio, here are my thoughts:
What was excellent: Itza the property manager is awesome, she is super responsive, gave us tips on where to eat and set us up with a zipline tour. The house was super clean and each room had an air conditioner that kept us cool at night.
The very good: The back of the house faces a jungle area, which was nice for viewing wildlife - it is at the bottom of a hill so you are mostly looking up to see birds/monkeys. The distance to the National park, restraunts, and stores is short by car.
The ok: The neighborhood is noisy during the day, when sitting on the back porch there was someone's grinding/repair business going on during daylight hours. Also, be aware that there are two steep right turns that have to be made to park at the house (you don't need a 4x4, but an SUV helps). The chaise lounge chairs by the pool should be replaced, as most of them are unusable.

Paradise!
I can’t say enough about the house, the wonderful hostess, and the country in general. The pictures are very accurate in depicting this most beautiful home. We had a wonderful time here. I can honestly say that I haven’t enjoyed a vacation this much in a long time! We were 7 adults with plenty of room and privacy for all for 6 nights.
The property is beautiful, the monkeys plentiful,( please don’t feed them though, it’s not good for them..and they don’t normally eat bananas) the neighbors were very friendly.
We were here in the busy Christmas season and were warned to be careful (as you would anywhere there are many tourists) We felt very safe at all times, although of course we watched our belongings on the buses and at the beach, just like home.
Itza arranged a park tour, snorkeling, canyoning and surf lessons (from her son David) for us. All were amazing. The only thing we didn’t fit in were the massages. We’ll have to come back for that!
Although the kitchen stove/oven was not working properly,Itza was aware and we were happy to grill on the outside deck.
When we went to the public beach, we walked and took the bus back. Itza can show you the short cut..not a bad walk at all..just hot. Transportation to and from Manuel Antonio and Quepos is very easy on the public buses, but they don’t run as often in the eveing, so you may need to take a cab after 8pm.There is a small grocery store just up the block, and a larger one on the main road a few minutes walk away.
I couldn’t imagine a nicer hostess than Itza and thank you also to Peter (Petes Place) who arranged a delicious New Years Eve dinner for us at Kapi Kapi. El Avion had great sunset views, and don’t miss the coffe and any meal at Cafe Milagro.
Again, Itza thank you for your hospitality. When (not if) we are in the area again, we will look to return here.
Pura Vida!!!
Soooo amazing! The home is very clean and it’s an amazing location! Etza is an amazing hostess and sooo helpful. We loved that rooms had multiple beds for families to be comfortable in. Also, the outside area is awesome to just enjoy some relaxation in the pool and to see monkeys!! Would recommend this home to anyone! It was great
We loved the simplicity of this home. It was in walking distance to a market, close to both Quepos and Manuel Antonio and Itza was absolutely amazing. We had a small group of adults which this home worked well. All the rooms had working bathrooms and AC in the rooms. The house is open and beautiful views to the back jungle. We had monkeys, Parrots, butterflies, and different types of wildlife visit us everyday. Beds were comfortable and enough room for everyone to have their own space.
It was an amazing trip and thank you Itza for everything!
This home is truly remarkable. And the pictures do not do it justice. Our family got to "Enchanted " home Christmas afternoon and left in shifts between New Years Eve and January 2nd. This is our 3rd rental home in Costa Rica, second in Quepos, so we are familiar with the area and really love it and the people. This home is so AMAZING. You are literally right in the rainforest. Not near it or above it (as our last houses) literally in the rainforest. Everyday we saw monkey's, parrots, macaws, sloths, squirrels, butterfly's, and lots of other creatures. Everyday single day. The pool is surrounded by the rainforest. It was the most amazing thing , everyday surrounded by so much life. And the house is so private, we never heard or saw neighbors. We were completely with nature. And as amazing as this house is (and it truly is amazing) its hostess Itza is the best thing about it and that is saying a lot. She is a very special lady. Such a wealth of knowledge and so much help with booking activities. Great suggestions. She was born and raised in Quepoes, so she knows everything and can answer any questions. She goes above and beyond for you to make your stay memorable. Our family was enthralled and were completely Enchanted with this home. Do yourself a favor, bring your family here. You will be forever thankful and grateful you did. Enchanted house and Izta are literally a piece of heaven on earth. Our family will definitely be back to Costa Rica and definitely stay at Enchanted House again. This is the true meaning of Pura Vida!!

Beautiful secluded home
Our group of 6 women stayed here for a week and it is a beautiful home. Itza is the best hostess and was able to set up 3 tours for us since she knows of the best tour companies. Itza showed us around Quepos and even took us to the local farmers market. She is the warmest and friendliest owner possible. We all enjoyed her massages since she is one of the top massage therapist in the area. I would definitely recommend staying here to all.

Couldn't ask for more
I recently returned from Itza's home spent a week with 5 other women. This being our first trip to Costa Rica none of us really knew what to expect. However, we did not have to look far for ideas, answers, help etc. Itza is awesome, she will arrange any attraction, transportation in a day's notice. She was more than helpful with anything we needed. And, her house is gorgeous, beautiful stone and tile work everywhere! The house is situated in a neighborhood, within walking distance to grocery and buses for venturing out of town. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. We did not have a car and found that to be no issue in the least. The monkeys came to visit almost daily! Lastly, Itza has a spa she is a massage therapist , we all had massages, and we all consider they were the best ever!

Wonderful house in a beautiful area
All of the descriptions and positive reviews of this home and of Itza herself are absolutely true. There is not a better place to stay in Manuel Antonio. Everything you need is a short walk away and Itza is wonderful at arranging activities. The home is fantastic with a very refreshing swimming pool, and is setup to host multiple couples with lots of privacy. Enjoy your stay at Casa Itza!

Fabulous Home, Wonderful Hostess
My husband and I stayed at Itza's place from 6/13/13-6/22/13. I looked at every house on VRBO in the Manuel Antonio area for several months and kept coming back to this one. I’m so glad we made the decision to stay here.
As we were carrying our bags into the house, Itza appeared on the front porch steps. She showed us a few things and left us to settle in after our long day of traveling. For the remainder of the trip, as she lives on the first floor of the home (with a separate entrance), she was available if we needed her, but we definitely had plenty of privacy.
I found all of the details of the home, in the description above, to be very accurate. The A/C in the bedrooms is more than adequate and the huge sliding glass doors on the main floor kept the house cool during the day.
We wanted to go fishing so Itza made a quick phone call and got us booked for a half day, in-shore. Marlin, our boat captain, picked us up and dropped us back off at the house afterwards, which was nice. She also booked us an afternoon tour on the Ocean King catamaran and saved us $10 per person, which I highly recommend. Her restaurant suggestions were ones that we probably wouldn’t have visited otherwise and they were delicious.
Gary cleaned the pool early every morning and Martha cleaned the house every other day. They are both very quiet and very good at their jobs.
We got massages from Itza and her daughter Abby and they were wonderful. Both of us walked out feeling like a million dollars! It’s definitely well worth the time and money.
As others have mentioned, the house is nestled in the back of a local neighborhood. We walked back and forth from the main road every day and felt right at home. When we didn’t feel like walking, we’d simply call a taxi and they all seem to know where Itza’s place is.
We saw white faced monkeys everyday, howler monkeys one day and a sloth two days. Various species of birds fly around the backyard all day so there's always outdoor entertainment.
As much as we loved relaxing on the patio or by the pool with a cup of coffee or a cocktail, I just as much enjoyed the time we spent talking to Itza. She’s such a gracious hostess. She works hard, she’s very honest and is proud of her home. I highly recommend this home as a getaway for a couple or family. It feels more like you’re visiting a relative than just another vacation rental.
I'd like to thank Itza and Abby for making our week in Costa Rica so spectacular!

Luxury Home in REAL Costa Rica
As others have said, the pics are accurate. So are the animals, and so is the "setting." While each visitor deserves his/her own opinion, anyone who was not enchanted by this property or its setting really doesn't belong anywhere but in a resort or a hotel room.
Itza is everything you could expect in a hostess/concierge. She was at our disposal all day and all night, doing what we asked of her without being "underfoot." If you asked her to come an hang out with you for a few hours a day, she'd probably do that, too.
Considering the openness of the main floor, the proximity of sand and jungle, the home was clean and appropriate. It is beautifully-decorated and very comfortable. A home this large in a country like Costa Rica is a leap-of-faith in itself. The environment is hard on appliances and services, and in the few respects that we were affected, Itza (and the people who work with her) resolved our concerns immediately or made sure we were accomodated. All things considered, what more could you ask of a hostess/owner?
Itza did her very best for us regardless of our wishes, and made every effort to see that our needs were always met. Her recommendations (side trips, etc.) were fantastic (go sailing for a morning or a day--you'll love it). Her advice regarding "where" to buy grocies was great. She'd have done more for us if we'd have asked.
The home is a bit off the beaten path but, if you're going to the trouble of getting deep into Costa Rica, why not see some "reality" while you're there? It's no different than staying in a high-end home in the Colorado mountains, as long as you're outside a gated community or a resort; your going to get some "real" with you fairytale vacation. Getting used to the home's location is quite necessary; getting around is something you'll need to get the hang of if you're going to have any fun in this part of the country, and learning your way from the house down to Quepos or the Manuel Antonio beach from the house is a good start.
The home is well-protected and safe. The restaurants were, on the whole, fantastic. There are great souvenir shops in either of the towns below the home's location. The beaches were good, fun and interesting.
More important to us (a party of nine) than a "perfect" house is was the degree to which we were "accomodated," and Itza and her staff were truly perfect in this respect--the first reason I'd go back.
Thank you, Itza, for everything.
Although the owner Itza made an error regarding our arrival date (she had confirmed our change from Sunday to Saturday but forget to make the change on her calendar), she & her daughter Abby, with their local connections in being residents of the area, quickly found us very suitable accommodations for our late arrival on Saturday night. We then easily moved to this lovely & spacious home Sunday morning and Itza & Abby even offered us complimentary massages later in the week as an apology-they were great!
The house descriptions & pictures are very accurate, and there is very ample space for eight. We have rented in this El Lirio neighborhood previously, & find it very convenient and among friendly locals. However, once you enter the gated area of Itza’s house, you are convinced you are deep in the jungle, with lush foliage & animal sightings & sounds surrounding you (one exception being the barking dog next door). We had housekeeping services twice during our 6 night stay.
Access to the pool –down a picturous but unevenly paved rock stairway- could be a bit difficult for those not physically fit & not all the lights at the adjacent barbeque area were working. We noticed some other minor maintenance issues & a the kitchen supplies were a bit light on cooking utensils, but we overall had a very enjoyable stay in this well-designed & furnished home. We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Great spacious and modern house, monkeys galore
Our group stayed in Itza’s House for 4 nights and we had a great experience. We were three families with a total of 4 young kids but I feel the house will be a great fit for travelers of any age. The house is situated in a local neighborhood a few blocks from the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. It is only a 10 min drive to Manual Antonio national park and the beaches. The architecture of the house is amazing – it backs into the rainforest and the entire back wall of the house is made of windows allowing for spectacular views from both the living room and the terrace. There are three levels – one is the main level which has the open plan living room and kitchen as well as one bedroom. The second level has the master bedroom and a nice terrace facing the rainforest and the third level has two bedrooms. Each bedroom comes with a bath and everything is very modern and clean and very airy. House is super spacious and allows for several families to share with no problems. Air conditioners in every bedroom as well as ceiling fans. Very large verandah off the living room with comfortable seating – we ate all of our breakfasts there and loved to have late night drinks and listen to the sounds of the rainforest. It is very easy to see monkeys especially if you leave a banana on the balcony – one morning we had 10+ monkeys right on the railings of the terrace to the delight of our kids. But you do need to wake up early to see them – they are usually there between 6 and 8 am though Itza says they also come in the afternoon. We also saw some birds in the trees behind the house. There are stairs from the terrace leading down to the pool and hot tub. Both are very nicely landscaped and there is a gazebo with a gas grill next to the pool. Our only disappointment was that the hot tub was freezing cold and we were told this cannot be fixed so it was unusable and so was the pool because of the very cold water. But the weather was pretty hot and the beaches were close so it was not a big issue. The house has parking and a locked gate so there is no issue for the safety of your cars. There is also a supermarket within walking distance that delivers though prices are quite expensive (as we found out is the case with many of the local grocery stores). Itza and her daughter Abby give great massages and we took advantage of their services one night – it was pure bliss to get a massage with the screen doors open listening to the sounds of the rainforest. Itza is a supe

Itza and her daughter Abby give great massages and we took advantage of their services one night – it was pure bliss to get a massage with the screen doors open listening to the sounds of the rainforest.

Awesome Stay!
Our stay at Itza's place in Manuel Antonio, CR, was amazing! One step inside and we were overwhelmed at the beauty of the expansive, open architecture. Each room was welcoming and comfortable, and we were so glad to have so much room to spread out. The deck made us feel like we were right in the jungle, and the pool & surrounding landscaping was beautiful. We decided not to rent a car, and we had little problem getting around, because we love to walk and don't mind public buses. Buses were a convenient way to get to the beach. We did walk to the beach one day - a 25 minute downhill hike which we enjoyed. But we took a bus back home. We walked up hill once, over half way back, and it was very tiring. Great exercise and view though! Taxis seemed over priced. - $6 for 1 km!
Manuel Antonio is good for those who have traveled internationally before or are somewhat adventurous. We met many local people who were nice and we always felt safe, but I don't know if we would have felt so comfortable if this was our first overseas trip. This is not a resort. You are in a local neighborhood and the short road to get there is like an alley. Once you are inside the property gate, you feel very secluded. The pool & decks are very private. There is some noise from neighbor dogs and occasional happy children playing ball.. Lots of monkey chatter and cricket/frog sounds. Some monkeys playing in the trees now and then. There is no road noise - unlike most other areas of Manuel Antonio.
We LOVED the food! The restaurant prices are similar to US Midwestern cities. Itza's kitchen is well-equipped, but we only ate in for breakfast and some lunches. The market in town is overpriced. Itza gave us directions to a better market (like a Walmart in Quepos) but we never went, since we didn't want to take the time. The little market close to Itza's is great for bananas, pineapple, etc. All restaurants we tried were very good; tops were: La Luna (in Gaia hotel), Victoria's, and Canopy - great value there. Service at Kapi Kapi was great.
Don't miss Itza and Abby's massages - totally awesome & worthwhile!
Itza was so friendly and helpful, honest and caring. Her English is so good, and she will help you with orienting yourself and planning things. We took the Canyoning Tour - waterfall rapelling - an awesome, indescribable adventure! (8am-1:30, incl lunch.) The national park was fun - nice beaches. Saw a few monkeys and a sloth.

This house is amazing
If you are trying to decide where to stay in the Manuel Antonio area, look no further. Our travel group (2 families with children aged, 5, 9, 11) loves to book a private home so we have our own pool, our own bedrooms and our own kitchen.
At Itza's we never once worried about security or the quality of our accomodations. The house is beautiful. It is tucked away off the main road amongst the local housing and it is very close to town. Walking distance to the grocery store (or, they deliver!) and a short cab ride to the beautiful beaches.
The jungle behind the house is astounding. Monkeys, bats, toucans, etc. were abundant. In fact, we made a point of coming home every day at "monkey time" to watch 6-25 white faced monkeys dancing on our roof and skylights.
Itza, Abby and David are amazing. Whatever you need, they help. Even if you don't need, they offer. The massages in the house were A+ and the beach surfing through David was superb. On our 4th trip to Costa Rica I can honestly say we have never been treated better. They really care.
