Very nice location with a great view of snow mountain and lake. The suite layout is lovely with a full kitchenette amenities and washing and drying machine. Wifi is strong and bose surround system. The auto heater is keeping the room warm. The check-in take a long time as it helps to explain abit on the queenstown and surrounding but only 1 guest relationship officer and ended up we have to wait for 20-25mins. The room was located next to the runway and it was interrupted with people walking and seeing thru our bedroom and suite throughout the day and with this we have to close up the curtain and never have much chance to enjoy the view.
We stayed there during our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect - far enough away from the city yet only a 20 minute walk. Perfect panoramic view (I'd recommend the level closest to the lake), awesome amenities (we always cooked breakfast there), and a wonderful staff. We went during autumn during which there were some good promotions.
Stay here. Walking distance from downtown Queenstown along the lake. 7 star views on he lake and mountains. Rooms are spectacular and Mel was very easy going and pleasant to deal with. I have stayed in larger hotels in town and this place is much better. Kitchen, in-room laundry, living room area and heated floors in he bathroom.
Stayed for 3 nights. Shown to our room and everything explained well. Room very clean and comfortable, warm and cosy with small kitchenette.Nicely appointed bathroom with minimal towels, ie 1 each. Did ask for an extra towel. Bed comfortable, quite firm, with good linen. Nil noise heard at night and minimal during the day, good soundproofing. Lovely view out of the unit to the lake, some outdoor furniture to relax on. Heating very good, full size hairdryer. Serviced daily, nice amenities, plunger coffee and offered fresh milk on arrival. Laundry facilities located inside unit. Walking track down some stairs that takes you into Queenstown (about 25 min walk, flat)or around the lake. Free wifi. TV was large and new, downside had poor reception and access to local channels only. Access to parking area a bit tight but parking available on site for patrons. No lifts so be wary if you have mobility issues and ask for a unit where you don't have to use the stairs. All in all a comfortable restful stay.
Happy to pay the high rates here as the views and rooms are absolutely worth it however found it a little rude when we were asked to pay for all 4 nights up front within 5 mins of arriving (first place in NZ that did that and I found the presumption we may not pay on departure a bit rude). After a great 4 day stay we wanted to enjoy a last cup of coffee in our fantastic villa whilst soaking up the last of that amazing view ...so we popped up to reception to ask for a small (~.80c) milk (which I knew they had) ....we were told that you only got a milk on your arrival. So the $1,200 we had just spent on accommodation obviously didn't buy us any favors so we could have a simple cup of coffee before departing. Talk about poor customer service ruining what would have been a perfect stay in Queenstown. I am not up for places like this that wont extend themselves (a very small amount) so you can leave on a high note and your stay is worth remembering.
Our apartment was located at the lowest level overlooking the lake. The villa was spacious for the 2 of us and having a laundry was such a positive given we had been traveling for weeks. We loved the walk into Queenstown every day - less than a half hour and it was great to walk along the lakefront - always something different to see. We had breakfast every day in the villa and also cooked a couple of dinners - villa had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The only negative to the villa was that we had to carry our very heavy suitcases down 10 flights of stairs when we arrived. (We followed the receptionist to our villa and we wish she had told us that we could have wheeled the suitcases down to the next level which would have eliminated half of the stairs). And more importantly we hd to carry the suitcases up five flights when we left! But we would definitely stay there again if we return to beautiful Queenstown!
We had an incredible stay. Accommodation was beautiful and so well set up for a family. Was great also to be able to use washing machine in our own unit. Incredible, and we were sad to leave. We'll be back.
It's really handy for getting the laundry done if you're travelling around NZ. Views of the lake are lovely. Otherwise, not much to say - rooms are basic. My bed was not comfortable. It's a long walk into queenstown.
Our stay at Villa del Lago was very nice. Decently equipped kitchen, fridge and dishwasher, and a gas fireplace make this a great place to stay. Lots of space and wonderful views of the lake. Receptionist was very enthusiastic when describing the many places to see and eat. Half hour walk to downtown Queenstown along the lake. Parking is a little tricky, but there is space. I highly recommend this place.
Look no further then the Villa Del Lago if you are going to stay in Queenstown. Beautiful setting where every room has a view of the lake. Each suite has been well thought out and the furnishings are beautiful. They have done everything right here and you won;t be disappointed.
