I am struggling to find anything that I didn't like about this place, and it is exactly as advertised - Vanessa on Reception duties was warm, welcoming and efficient and gave lots of good local information to help us get started...A good touch was to take us to our 'home' for the next 5 nights and show us around explaining the lovely apartment's amenities. The drive is pretty steep which is not surprising in a mountain area and be prepared for a few steps! We were in Suite 16, It was very quiet and the views from here are magnificent; lakeside looking across to the mountains. Actually I think all accommodation in the complex will have a brilliant view. The location is just out of town centre but only a few minutes drive, or, an easy 20-25 minute walk along the lakeside to the central area. This one bedroom suite has everything you could wish for; kitchen with all you need to cook a meal or just snacks, electric stove, gas hobs, microwave, dishwasher and good quality glassware, crockery, cutlery and serving dishes. Even the cooking utensils are of the same high quality, I could find everything I needed. Lounge area with its cosy gas/log fire, comfortable leather settee and large TV was a pleasant relaxing area; WiFi was available without restriction and it was fast. Bedroom; has plenty of hanging space and drawers, additional heater and snuggly quilts all with, as you expect, good quality bedding and choice of pillows. Plus, the luxury of having this made up every day!!! Bathroom, again, good quality amenities, heated towel rail and extra luxury - tiles with underfloor heating. Fresh towels everyday ! The bath, with shower was drenching and plenty of hot water - I hate it when there is hardly a dribble as often happens. To complete the picture there is also washing machine and dryer etc!! The place is a credit to the management of this property, and, I might add, equally warm and welcoming. We would stay here again without hesitation.
We stayed at Villa Del Largo during our 3 night stay in Queenstown. The property is a couple of kilometres out of the CBD and is on the lakeside if Frankton Road so no other buildings disrupted our view. We had a 1 bedroom unit with kitchen, gas fireplace and was very warm. The facilities are very clean and well kept. We were able to walk down a flight of stairs onto a walking path which was very scenic and flat to walk into town. It took us around 30 minutes at a regular pace. Please note, there are no elevators so the closer to the lake you are, the more flights of stairs you have to carry suitcases, so if this is a potential risk, ask for a higher unit. Our unit was reset for us each day. The ensuite has underfloor heating, wall heater and heated towel rails. Our bedroom had an electric heater and electric blankets plus a gas fireplace in the living area. No reason to be cold here.
Great villa that feels like home. Loved the lakefront views from the room, highly functional kitchen, and comfortable bed. It's also right next to the trail and easy 30 mins walk to town centre. Wish I had a vacation home like this.
Four couple (from all over Australia and the US) rented two “apartments” for a week. The views, the peace & quiet, the beds, the kitchen, the cleanliness, the privacy were all excellent...! The apartments were ideally located near town and wonderful restaurants as well as bottle shops and grocery stores. Such a delightful place to stay and meet up with friends.
Great location, beautiful views of lake and The Remarkables. A short trip to town and the airport. The apartments are very well equipped and serviced daily. ThemManager was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
Left an impression during our last visit to NZ and we made a point to stay again on this trip. Fantastic mountain and lake views straight from our accommodation. Warm and cosy stay for a family of 6 (kids and grandparents). Very clean (wife agrees)! Well equipped with good amenities laundry and if you are planning for a home-cook meal. Charlotte/staff were friendly and responsive to our needs - we were very assured and comfortable. Conveniently located, right at the fringe of Queenstown (abt 5 min drive) and near Remarkables/5 Mile shopping areas (abt 10 to 15 min drive). Good for day trips to Glenorchy or the nearby wineries (we visited Wild Earth) as well. Will visit again.
We spent a week at Villa del Lago while we were in Queenstown for a family wedding. The views are amazing! The villas are extremely clean, very well equipped, and extremely cosy and comfortable. Location is great - just far enough out of the noisy centre of town, but close enough to walk to everything. And the service offered by Charlotte and Nic was fabulous - absolutely nothing was too much trouble! Would definitely stay there again!
Several places in Queenstown are listed with great views, but Villa del Lago has spectacular unblocked 180 degree mountain views, situated right on the edge of Lake Wakatipu. The villa itself is a perfect size for two, with good sized bathroom, large laundry with washer and dryer, usable full-kitchen, with adjacent dining table and lounge complete with gas fire (which came in handy as it snowed during our visit!). It's fully equipped and cleaned daily so you want for nothing in your self-contained mini-apartment with million dollar views. Location is great, only 5mins from centre of Queenstown and 15mins from the airport - with perhaps the only minor drawback being it's accessed down a steep and tight side road that needs care when negotiating. On check-in the staff were very helpful, locating the nearest grocery stores and restaurants as well as the usual attractions. Overall a highly recommended place to stay that's close enough to easily enjoy the buzz of Queenstown, but far enough away to provide a tranquil haven.
We lucked out with perfect weather, but quite frankly, even if it had been blowing a blizzard, Villa(s) del Lago was a great place to be. The wide span of lake and mountain views are ever changing. We started in a larger Villa which had become vacant - it was incredibly spacious and well appointed in every respect, right down to crisp ironed linen and electric blankets. Then we moved to a studio - and it was equally well set up (full kitchen, laundry, bathroom etc) - and with the same sweeping views! Stairs from all villas take you down to an "access" path which goes a long way both directions. We rode on bikes (available at reception) up towards Frankton and beyond the new Kawerau dam bridge - and walked the other way into town, a beautiful 20 minute walk right on the edge of the lake. Can't wait to return! Thanks to our gracious hosts Charlotte, Nik and Mel
Our family of 4 stayed at the Villa del Lago for 2 nights. The views and location are very, very good. The apartment is extremely clean and comfortable additionally, the location is very good. The reception is a bit run down and the parking is difficult to navigate.
