Lovely hotel very clean with walk-in shower only stayed the one night, but very suitable for long stay with fridge, microwave etc provided with a beautiful view of the lake, with public transportation close with easy access to the Airport and city centre.
We stayed here for two nights. We had a lot of trouble finding the Motel in the first place, it is not well signposted and it was difficult to go very slow as the road was very busy. It is also a long way out of Queenstown. The room was ok but there was a lot of building work going on around it. overall not very impressed.
We stayed two nights at Mantra Marina in Queenstown, NZ.The one bedroom we stayed in was a lockout unit connected to a larger two bedroom. It was very modern and contemporary, with a nice shower and comfortable bed. The best thing about it was that the tile floor in the bathroom was heated, which felt great on cool mornings! The girl at the reception desk was very helpful, offering suggestions for sight seeing trips, and even found a french press coffee maker for me. It is right on the lake with lovely views - but unfortunately our unit did not have a view of the lake. The only bad thing about its location is that it is on a busy road, and we had to wait a bit for a break in traffic to get out. Also, there are no elevators, and one must climb stairs to get to the rooms.
Room 401a is the closet room to the very busy and noisy main road. Even with the double glazed windows shut that room and any of the rooms in blocks 3 and 4 are too close to the busy traffic flow. I can also see how others have commented that rooms like 401a would be too hot in summer. Room 401a faces west. The king bed is actually 2 twins mattresses pushed together and I would guess that these mattresses have rarely been rotated; as they are very soft / worn on the outside edges. The carpet showed lots of stains and general marks. The free in room Wi-Fi was slow even for very basic data downloads. As others have flagged the "apartment studio" room type is a basic hotel room with a microwave and some plates, etc. Not sure how the local council ever approved of washing crockery in the bathroom sink. You definitely need a car to stay here. One plus was the free washing machines and driers.
1st confusing we booked online under Elements Escapes only to find part of Mantra. 7.4 Km from town but excellent bus service outside apartment parking in Queenstoun terrible. The apartment on ground floor Room 103 first class accommodation could not fault it. Large loung/diner/kitchen with large patio doors to outside seating area.1 internal bedroom with glass door to lounge 2nd bedroom good size both had excellent en suites. . Keys were left in box outside Mantra reception a code was emailed to us. Initially not happy withour view being obscured with building work for new Marina metal fencing and heavy works machinery. We did phone re this advised someone would get back to us after our 5 night stay still waiting. Would have give 5 star for this reason 4. We had a fabulous time and would return in a heartbeat.
Arrived in Mantra Hotel around 8 pm at night. We realized that the room was totally invaded with sandflies and I called the property straight away. I talked on the phone with a lady and her name was Cat. She did just apoligize and didn't offer any other solution and just told me to see her in the morning on my check out because at the time at night she could not do anything so I went out at night time and looking for a open supermarket for buy a spray for sandflies and this cause me a lot of stress because I had a big day behind me and I was really tired. The day after I went for doing the check out and Cat was there. The attidute of Cat was passive agressive and she did not know how to deal with this situation,I even asked for a special discount for a the hypothetical following night that she did not give. In years of hotel experience this is the first time that I write a bad review for a hotel room. Cat just doesn't know what "customer service"means and I really hope she will change job. I asked even for the manager and was not avalaible that day. Never again in this place.
This accommodation is very modern and the rooms are large and well equipped, we were staying with some friends on a trip round New Zealand and had 2 studio rooms rather than an apartment. There was a slight issue with road noise as these rooms do not have lake views and can be quite near the busy road, that said it did not disturb us very much at all. The situation is lovely on the lake with views of the Remarkables behind, although they are a long way out of town. We found a good pub 10 minutes walk away up the lake at Frankton which did good reasonably priced food and showed the sport on tv too! These units and apartments are modern and well equipped and make a good base in an otherwise very busy and expensive placebo stay.
I was lucky and was upgraded from a room to a 2-bedroom 2-bath apartment with partial view of the lake. What an amazing place!!! I couldn’t believe the place. Nice, big, stylish and modern; just like I like it. The apartment is perfect for a family with kids or for 4 friends (one room had twin beds and the other a queen size bed). The kitchen is fully loaded, and you also get washer and dryer. Amazing. The parking lot is spacious and the location pretty good as long as you have a car to go to town. The apartment is nicer than my own place at home! The only thing I wonder is how warm it is in winter since I was a bit cold. There was a space heater though in the master bedroom. I see reviews indicating the place is noisy, it wasn’t for me and I was in one of the units that is closest to the highway. Overall, this is a luxury accommodation in my mind and not the place I expected to find so kudos to management for the work they have done and for upgrading me!
Nice modern bright hotel rooms. Very noisy next to the highway and there was also a lot of noise from adjoining rooms. We weren't left towels abs reception was closed which was annoying. We hired bikes for a full day for $30 each which was great value Some reception people were great others thought it was all too hard and guests were annoying. About ten minutes out of town
Queenstown is not getting any cheaper, so finding a decent room without breaking the bank is a challenge. The Mantra fit the bill for us. Walking distance to some restaurants at the roundabout (we liked the indian) and super close to the airport. The main bus line runs along the nearby road and can take you into town (about 20 minutes away) which beats paying for parking in the crowded downtown area.
