I was nervous about booking after reading so many negative reviews, but I’m so glad I didn’t cancel.
We stayed in Caoba Lagoon. Check-in was smooth, and we were in our clean room within 30 minutes.
Restaurants: Reservations through the app were easy. We tried the Thai, Mexican, French, and Italian restaurants. The French and Mexican were our favorites. The staff at the Mexican restaurant surprised me with a birthday song and dance. At the Thai restaurant my husband received the wrong meal, but they immediately offered to remake it.
Service: We experienced excellent service. Despite speaking very little Spanish, every employee was friendly and attentive. Drinks were constantly refilled, and the staff was wonderful with our children. My only negative interaction was at the Bávaro coffee shop, but everyone can have a bad day.
Power Outage: We lost power and A/C one evening. It was uncomfortable, but the staff handled it professionally despite some guests unfairly taking their frustration out on them.
Cleanliness: Some areas had a musty smell, but our room was cleaned daily, fresh towels were provided, and the grounds were beautifully maintained.
Beach/Construction: The Caoba Beach Club was still under construction, but we had full access to Costa Bávaro. We never had trouble finding chairs, and construction never disrupted our vacation.
The resort isn’t perfect, but the staff worked incredibly hard, the food exceeded our expectations, and we made wonderful family memories. We’d
