This hotel is a quiet, peaceful resort about 45 minutes outside of Puerto Vallarta. We went with 3 teenage boys and absolutely fell in love with the place. The location is right on the beach on a cliff. The open air restaurant overlooks the ocean. The entire resort is just peaceful. We spent most of our time on the beach, with one son choosing to go to the pool instead. No issues getting chaise lounges because there just aren't that many guests. It is a small resort. The pool and beach are so close,I felt comfortable just letting the kids venture from one to the other while I relaxed on the lounge chair. I recommend doing the all inclusive plan. The food was great and it is nice to not have to worry about paying. You can eat whenever. You do have to sign a check for each meal, so you see the cost of the food and tip if you wish, but at check out, only the tips are charged to you.The food selection is good. Each night is a different theme. You can order a-la-carte or go to the buffet station which is different each night (prime rib night, pasta night, taco night...) Breakfast is just the buffet with an omelet station and a grill station. The French Toast is spectacular! The room itself was beautiful. Very clean and well kept. Not brand new- but still very nice. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Puerto Vallarta. It is a little off the beaten path (the taxi ride there is an adventure itself), and it is a hidden paradise.

My family and I traveled to Rancho Banderas during the last week of June. The resort was wonderful. It is a small, quaint resort. You get to know the staff and the other guests through out your stay. We did the all inclusive plan and I highly recommend it. It is nice to not have to worry about paying for meals. You can grab food whenever you want. We hung out at the beach all day and just ordered food and drinks when the need arose. Sometimes, the staff was a little slow because of high demand, but we could easily walk up to the restaurant to order it ourselves. The staff is super friendly and willing to help you. The food was really quite good. For dinner, you could order a la cart or go to the buffet station for dinner. Each night was different theme and all the food was delightful. You have to have the French Toast at breakfast. My entire family loved it. Our room we had was spectacular. It overlooked the beach. Vaulted ceilings and super clean. I read the reviews that said the rooms were dated. Yes, our room probably could use some touch ups, but you didn't notice it once you saw the view. Our balcony was enormous and you could sit on it and watch the ocean. Beautiful! If accessibility is an issue, be warned- there are stairs to the beach and lower levels of the pool. Our room was on the third floor so we had stairs there as well. But i just used the stairs as a reason why I could order dessert at night! Overall, I loved this resort. My husband loved this resort. My kids loved this resort. It is a quiet gem.

My husband, son and I spent four nights at Rancho Banderas and loved it! We stayed at the recommendation of some friends who enjoyed their stay with kids. We opted for all-inclusive and loved it! The resort is very nice, clean and has very friendly staff. We opted for a one bedroom and our son stayed on the pull-out sofa. The AC worked great and we had two passes for Wifi. The front desk said it wouldn't work from our room, but we were able to get on Wifi from the bedroom just fine. We really enjoyed the beautiful pool and my son loved going down the slides. We used boogie boards and enjoyed the amazing waves out in front. Very convenient! The restaurant was delicious and we couldn't believe that everything was consistently delicious. My son also has a nut allergy and everyone was very accommodating. We took a cab into Sayulita, about 30 minutes away, and enjoyed walking through the town. We had hoped to get into Puerto Vallarta, but since it was over an hour away, opted not to since this visit was as short one. Next time! The only negative is that the sand area in front of the resort is not roped off (like we've had before in Cabo), so we were continually being bothered by people trying to sell us things. However, they were all polite and didn't harass us, taking no and leaving. We would stay again without hesitation! Thank you Rancho Banderas staff!

My wife and I just spend a week at Rancho Banderas Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The resort was located about 45 minutes from the airport on the north side and was family oriented and presented a secluded environment. The three tiered pool was a great amenity as well as the service. The beach is not crowded and provided a great escape. All of the staff was very polite, willing to serve and went out of their way to make our vacation a huge success. Specifically, Patty and Miquel provided a pleasurable experience and was overly eager to cater to our every needs. Although there was only 1 restaurant on the premises, they varied their food each day which provided a good variety. Our 3 Bedroom Villa was awesome with an ocean view and was cleaned daily. Recommend purchasing the all inclusive package. Although we don't usually go back to the same locations on our vacations, we would definitely go back to this resort with our kids for a family vacation. All the guest were very friendly and assisted with a great atmosphere.

This would be a 5 star review, but we had a problem with our air conditioning that took multiple calls / requests to have addressed. Other than that, this was a wonderful vacation spot with specatular ammenities and beach access. The staff was exceptionally pleasant and the food (especially the seafood) was excellent.

Hello! I'm solely here because I felt compelled to write something after spending hours upon hours reading reviews of this resort, on sites like this. Let me begin with - those of you who had bad experiences, I'm sorry. But - if you're a bride like me who (or frankly, anyone who is in dire need of a week away) - was in search of an absolute dream of a location, this is your place. Also - just a disclaimer, because this is neither a pro or a con, depending on what you're interested in - we did not find the sales staff to be all that pushy. We did partake in the presentation, but once we had made our decision clear, the staff was beyond respectful of our choice and it did not linger over our vacation. Do not let those comments deter you away from choosing this resort. PROS: The staff. All of them. Every single person you passed in the hallway greeted you like family, and anyone in the service arena went above and beyond to make sure your every need was met during your stay. Special shout out to the serving team at Pepper's (the on-site restaurant) - they were so attentive, appreciative, and hysterical. The facilities. The grounds were beyond manicured, the views were gorgeous, the pool was always clean, the seats always ready for you to relax in, and I couldn't rave enough. The rooms. I read over and over that the decor was a little outdated, but who plans on spending time in Mexico in your room the entire time? The linens were very comfortable, the future fit the needs of our stay, and was plenty relaxing for the small time we were in our accomodations. The restaurant. Again, I read a couple not-so-great things about this place, but it seems like the resort has tried really hard to create some variety in the menu since the options are limited. (And by options, I mean, there's only one restaurant on-site.) We stayed for 7 days, and I never repeated a meal. DO NOT MISS BREAKFAST. And everything, I mean everything, was delicious. I mean, the last night - we ate red snapper that had been caught the night before, and was filleted in front of us! I'm telling you, it was amazing. And the bartenders were beyond gracious to help with your drink orders. (I would recommend the strawberry margaritas highly!) The pool-side service. Not much needs to be said about this, just simply this: it was a dream. The quiet. Because this is a resort that errs on the side of small, it was pretty tame, and such a great place to unwind. We spent a magical time here, and had such a great few days unwinding after the chaos that is getting married. Three words: massages and facials. CONS: The bugs. This is nothing the resort can take fault for - it's simply a result of being located in such a vibrant and lush environment. Pro tip: put one of the maple syrups out on the ledge when you sit at a table by the water, and the bugs will sufficiently begin to ignore your table and flock to the syrup distraction. Also - bring bug spray for by the pool. If you forget, they have some in the resort store. The cab ride to the resort. Again - not the resort's fault, but get ready for an anxiety-inducing trip! Think Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in Disney World. Props to those cab drivers for navigating the crazy traffic. Solely stating this so you can prep yourself. Leaving. It was heartbreaking to say goodbye, but it was definitely a place that we'll put on our list in the future. Thank you Rancho Banderas for an incredible honeymoon, we will be back someday, hopefully sooner rather than later. And for all you reading this - enjoy your time in this dream of a place!

My wife and I went on our first vacation alone and wanted a relaxing sun filled vacation. That is exactly what we got. The staff here was the best I have ever had. Very friendly and professional. They always made sure we had what we wanted. The food was absolutely delicious. We had read some reviews saying service was slow and the food was mediocre. These are wrong. The food was delicious. I am not sure why anyone would care if the service was slow, you are on vacation whats the hurry. The pool was relaxing and fun at the same time. The water slide is a great touch. We will definitely be going back. Loved it!

My husband and I stayed at Rancho Banderas the last week of May. We had never stayed on the West Coast of Mexico, and were looking for a relaxing location for a sunny get away. Rancho Banderas, by far, exceeded our expectations! Let me start by stating that before we even took the trip, I had contacted Rancho Banderas to ask questions about the room and all-inclusive meal options. I received a response in literally a couple hours' time, with complete information, and very friendly and helpful tips. That set the tone, for what was to come on our stay. We arrived on a Saturday - and found the hotel to be tucked away - on a beautiful stretch of beach, with our room having a perfect view of the pool and ocean from the balcony. Check in was a breeze, and our bags were taken to our room by a gentleman that was super friendly and upbeat. Our stay? WONDERFUL! The beach is really serene, and you can walk for quite a way without running into people. Everyone at the resort seemed eager to please, from the cleaning crew to the Managers - we were truly impressed! I wrote a separate review on the restaurant on site; Peppers. (We loved the service/food there, btw!) If you are looking for a quiet relaxing resort, but want to be able to travel to sites around Puerto Vallarta with relative ease - this is the place to go! We will definitely be back, our experience was truly enjoyable!

We were unsure based on some of the reviews, but found this place to be fabulous! We have been to countless places in Mexico and even in the general area of PV and this place was just right. We loved the beach, the service, the low key vibe, the food, the proximity to towns, and the views. We did not do the all-inclusive, we like to venture of property, but we were pleased with the three dinners we had. For only having one restaurant it's nice that they change the menu each night. The room furnishings could be upgraded, but they did not have a negative impact on our stay. Great place for couples, groups, or families.

Had a great vacation here at Rancho banderas. The food at peppers is awesome and the staff is so friendly . There's a Long Beach for walks on that only has 1 other resort down from Rancho Banderas. The beach and ocean are steps away from the beach.
