As a returning guests who have enjoyed "Old Mexico" charm for at least 10+ years, we were pleased to return this year and find many new improvements, construction finished, and to stay in one of four brand new rooms. The new owner, Angie, has done a excellent job renovating while retaining the old charm. at this ocean front, small hotel. This small hotel is situated about 1 mile south from the Romantic Zone. Built on a hillside, 6 floors terraced floors that step down to the beach. (No elevator) The lowest level, connects to La Playita resturant, (seperately owned), from there you step onto the beach. That makes eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner very convenient, with very good food and service, not to mention Happy Hour at Noon & 5:00. They offer beach service, but it's not a requirement. It is a public beach, frequented by local families and hotel guests both. The natural rocky clifts create a protective cove which is good for dipping in, snorkeling, but not surfing. Water activities can be arranged. The hotel has an expansive new terrace that connects the pool , (2 new bathrooms), and new 5th floor rooms. They are contemplating a terrace snack/bar on the future, but for now, we just enjoyed the panoramic view and cool breeze, especially at sunset or after dinner. All the rooms have full front Ocean View balconies, some with a jacuzzi and mini kitchen. We have stayed in "Old Charm" deluxe studio #401, but this trip decided on "New Charm" room #509. There is air condition and ceiling fans that work well. We happen to enjoy leaving the doors open all night, hearing the sound of the water at night and birds chirping in the morning. The 4 new rooms all have contemporary decor, Jacuzzi on balcony, large bathrooms with step- in tiled shower, mini refrigerators, but not kitchens. We asked for a coffee maker. No problem Some older rooms are in the process of being repainted and updated, worker at daytime. However it was not noisy, at least it never bothered us who are late sleepers. The staff still includes favorite old faces, working along side the new owner, Angie, and her sister, Kenia at front desk. Kenia arranged airport pick up, in private car, by her husband Ulises. ($20 US). Being greeted, we feel like old friends Miguel, at front desk, and all the behind-the-scenes workings, speaks very fluent English, and is very helpful with any concerns, questions or needs. Franco, the night manager, greeting you when you return from a night out, and our daily help from The Beach Boy, Elijio, who helps with lounges & chairs on the beach any other needs, a with a smile. We left with a smile too!
This is the fourth time to stay at Lindo Mar. The location is what makes this place so special, perched on the hill with a beach front. Small and intimate, a wonderful staff who are very friendly and helpful to make your visit even better. Always clean and well maintained. Open air restaurant right above the beach.
Nestled in the rain forest, on a hill and across the street from the ocean. World International Conchas Chinas (timeshare) has an ocean view with lots of windows, a beautiful pool, lots of trees, a cobble stone driveway, clean, well maintained, and even includes an iguana who will eat from your hand. It is separate from the Hotel which is on the beach side of the main road. The staff were wonderful, so warm and friendly. They would smile and welcome you back after the day's adventures. I felt like they really cared that we had a good time while we were there, and were great about sharing local information. Facilities were terrific, everything worked!
The Playa Conchas Chinas Hotel maintains a fine reputation as one of the original beachfront places in Puerto Vallarta. My first visit was in 1982. I've returned numerous times over the years. Changes and remodeling have all been for the better. Truly BEACHFRONT! The available restaurant service is enjoyed beachfront too. The most popular beach breakfast in PV - especially on any Sunday. Bus service is right across the road, and taxis too. Long a favorite with veteran PV visitors, it is a choice spot, and you'll return often. It is hard to avoid doing that!
Lovely place - we'll be back. At less than $75 a night, this was an incredible bargain! The beach immediately at the bottom of the hotel was small and rocky, but beautiful and fun for my family. Tons of shells and rocks for my preschooler to play with. Also convenient to have a restaurant right there at the beach. The rooms were clean and full of character, plus had an amble beach view balcony and fridge.
What makes this hotel over the top for me is the people and the ocean. This still quaint hotel is run in a lovely, hospitable manner. Even though there has been construction going on, it is mostly only during the day light hours. They are gradually adding more rooms and up dating the decor. The location is a bit south of Puerto Vallarta, but above a rugged, rocky beach at high tide but calm and rolling enough to swim when the tide goes out. Delightful beach location! The restaurant below is very good, as well, and they will bring food and drink to you on the beach! I love this hotel!
We went at the low time of year so there was construction going on at the time, so sleeping in was not going to happen. Who would want to when you have snorkeling at your feet. Our balcony overlooked the ocean, the view was stunning! I loved to walk into town from there, right along the beach to Los Muertos and then to breakfast. The bus stop is out front and it is about a 5-10 minute ride into town. If a bus or a walk into town isnt your thing, then cabs are right out front. The restaurant had a great sunday buffet and the food at anytime is great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach is also part of the resort next door so using the loungers isnt allowed by the guests here. A little bird hung around the whole time we were there, even hopped in one morning to wake us up. We called him Petey and he would sit and lounge with us on the deck. I would definitely stay again.
Right from the start, the staff was awesome, warm and friendly. The hotel was super clean and quiet. Small place, so not to many people for the size. There are 2 adjoining restaurants not owned by the hotel, there good. We loved catching the bus (80) pesos into town, about a mile, hundreds of restaurants and sites. We have been to PV over 20 times and this hotel is now on the top of our list for a good value and overall experience We met the owners when we checked out, they really care and understand the patrons count.
When we we're shown to our room after our arrival, we were surprised that we we had to walk through a construction site to get there. It was relatively quiet at that moment - maybe lunch time. When I protested that we were not going to stay in a construction zone, the guy who showed us to our room assured us that there would be no noise. But sure enough, the banging, and drilling began in earnest as we were getting settled. (We're still here at this writing, but getting ready to leave.) Alternative truth, I guess. The expansion should be nice when it's finished, but by the looks of it, it's going to be quite a long time. Until then, go anywhere else otherwise it will destroy your vacation.
We have been here twice: once four years ago and another time two weeks ago. This is a family owned and ran boutique hotel. They are making amazing improvements and all the staff is attentive and helpful. It's a well kept property from the Night of the Iguana era with about 18 rooms. The location in the Conchas Chinas neighborhood is close to downtown yet removed from the city noise. Our room was always clean, simple and well maintained, and had a lovely balcony. We slept with the doors open every night with the sounds of the waves and NO BUGS! (Room 302). Soon they will add three new modern rooms to their inventory plus they are working what appears to be a updated dining or tanning patio. Parking is a challenge but we had no car, just used the accessible public buses or taxis. Kenia was accommodating and friendly even though her English skills are not strong. Her husband Ulises picked us up at the airport (for standard taxi fee) and spoke very good English. We would happily stay there again.
