We we're here 4 nights, it was overall pretty good. I liked the secure parking, with video coverage seen from the front desk. I liked the quite a.c., I liked how clean it was, I liked my balcony for an extra charge of 100 pesos. I liked the hot hot water and terrific water pressure. I did not like the lack of elevator when on the 4th floor. I thought the breakfast was very basic, could dress it up even by serving different fruit from day to day rather than same every day, I'd like WiFi in rooms, I'd like milk at breakfast in my coffee rather than unhealthy coffee mate. But overall a good stay for 800 pesos online.
My room was very small, and being a single traveler, I could use the second bed to put my suitcase on, so I managed. My room had a window that opened to a service patio, so I could hear the staff talking. They shout at each other (even though they have walkie talkies) for linens and instructions until 5 pm when they go home. Forget about taking a nap... One night the watchman had an hour long phone conversation at 2:00 am right under my window. There are no amenities like chairs or bed lamps or even a plastic glass. Bathroom was small (have to squeeze around the toilet to get to the shower), tiny sink, no hand towels or face cloth. No fridge or coffee maker or anything of that sort. Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, coffee and toast with butter and jam. That's it - full stop. No protein whatsoever. Wifi only at the lobby. Positive aspects - A/C, water pressure and temperature in shower, cleanliness, good mattresses. The front desk staff was helpful and polite. Location is good, safe and with easy access to the Malecon and the old downtown.
The room we were assigned was extremely small! To enter the shower it is necessary to step over the toilet! Sitting on the toilet, your knees touch the wall! Tiny sink. Hardly room at the foot of the bed to access the clothes closet. No chair or stand to open suitcases. No window to the outside. Very noisy with doors slamming, loud voices at late hours. Positive aspects - A/C, water pressure and temperature in shower, cleanliness, good mattresses. Several requests at the front desk for a larger room went un-heeded, and no attempt was made to accommodate our request. Staff were unable to communicate in English.
Good: Great location. Safe Mexican neighborhood. We could see the ocean from our balcony. Clean rooms and linens. Cold A/C! Not so good: Very few amenities. No fridge, cups, coffee maker, or iron. Small but functional CRT tv. Small rooms. Very little sound proofing. The staff speaks very little English. WiFi in lobby only. No elevator. Overall for the price, it was well worth it.
First off this is not a 5 star hotel this is a real mexican hotel in a real mexican neighborhood run by mexi an hard working people the area isnt pretty looks rough but its 100prct safe i walked all hours of the night up to 4 am if you want a hotel with great beds extremely clean rooms and bathrooms with very hot water and amazing water pressure and toilets that flush with amazing flushing power bright white and clean towels changed daily then this is for you they new i slept late so instead of intruding they would call me on the room phone to see if i wanted cleaning that was nice none of the staff bothers you i came and went in privacy and no problem had a friend visit as well with no problem none of the staff speaks English no one so if you dont know spanish and need something you might be stuck but they do try to help there is a convenient store a block away also there are restaurants and cafes and gift shops within a block on one of the main streets that will take you to the main walkthrough of the beach and tourist attractions 2 blocks straight down is the beach i like this area its not over crowded with people and tourists so when you want to get away from the crush of people and gaukers this us great
Four of us rented the penthouse. It consists of two large a/c bedrooms and one washroom. There is an outside (private) sitting area with a table and four chairs. There is actually a good ocean view. The rooms were very clean and the staff were very pleasant. The cost was approximately 200.00 can. total for the 2 nights .The location is great as it is close to the beach/restaurants and the malecon. The only downside is the penthouse is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator. The four of us are all over 70 and we managed.
Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the location. Checking in was fun as the clerk did not speak English, we sorted it out. Got a nice room, 2 double beds which was perfect. Beds were firm and very comfortable. Very clean as well. Reasonable bathroom. Breakfast was a hand made plate of fresh fruit, coffee, jam and bread and it was very good. We arrived a day early and couldn't get into our Timeshare so we stayed here and would not hesitate to do it again. Just to be clear, this is not the Hilton and if you want an affordable clean room with great staff, this should be your first choice.
We moved to the Mocali after a terrible experience at another budget hotel and what a difference. The basic rooms can be small but very clean. Bedding and towels are perfect. In this price range expect some compromises but just a few blocks to the beach and who needs a pool. Noise levels can be a problem at night so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Easy walk to Malecon and even walkable to romantic zone if not too hot. If you need the resort experience this is not for you, but for a safe and comfortable vacation in a great area with loads of things to see and do the Mocali is for you and we'll leave the lights on.
Budget hotel/great location/clean rooms/nice staff....short walk to Malecon or beach...street rooms are the best if you want to see whats happening...some rooms can even see the ocean....how much do you need to know/budget hotel in a great location..finally have enough characters and getting grouchy
This hotel is in the heart of the central district. It is well maintained, clean, extremely friendly (although the English at the front desk is little to none), and comfortable. The rooms have balconies, AC and cable TV. There is also fairly reliable WiFi. Pound for pound, this a GREAT value. I will defiantly come back. They also have off street parking and complimentary hot breakfast that is very tasty!
