Good: Great location. Safe Mexican neighborhood. We could see the ocean from our balcony. Clean rooms and linens. Cold A/C! Not so good: Very few amenities. No fridge, cups, coffee maker, or iron. Small but functional CRT tv. Small rooms. Very little sound proofing. The staff speaks very little English. WiFi in lobby only. No elevator. Overall for the price, it was well worth it.
First off this is not a 5 star hotel this is a real mexican hotel in a real mexican neighborhood run by mexi an hard working people the area isnt pretty looks rough but its 100prct safe i walked all hours of the night up to 4 am if you want a hotel with great beds extremely clean rooms and bathrooms with very hot water and amazing water pressure and toilets that flush with amazing flushing power bright white and clean towels changed daily then this is for you they new i slept late so instead of intruding they would call me on the room phone to see if i wanted cleaning that was nice none of the staff bothers you i came and went in privacy and no problem had a friend visit as well with no problem none of the staff speaks English no one so if you dont know spanish and need something you might be stuck but they do try to help there is a convenient store a block away also there are restaurants and cafes and gift shops within a block on one of the main streets that will take you to the main walkthrough of the beach and tourist attractions 2 blocks straight down is the beach i like this area its not over crowded with people and tourists so when you want to get away from the crush of people and gaukers this us great
Four of us rented the penthouse. It consists of two large a/c bedrooms and one washroom. There is an outside (private) sitting area with a table and four chairs. There is actually a good ocean view. The rooms were very clean and the staff were very pleasant. The cost was approximately 200.00 can. total for the 2 nights .The location is great as it is close to the beach/restaurants and the malecon. The only downside is the penthouse is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator. The four of us are all over 70 and we managed.
Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the location. Checking in was fun as the clerk did not speak English, we sorted it out. Got a nice room, 2 double beds which was perfect. Beds were firm and very comfortable. Very clean as well. Reasonable bathroom. Breakfast was a hand made plate of fresh fruit, coffee, jam and bread and it was very good. We arrived a day early and couldn't get into our Timeshare so we stayed here and would not hesitate to do it again. Just to be clear, this is not the Hilton and if you want an affordable clean room with great staff, this should be your first choice.
We moved to the Mocali after a terrible experience at another budget hotel and what a difference. The basic rooms can be small but very clean. Bedding and towels are perfect. In this price range expect some compromises but just a few blocks to the beach and who needs a pool. Noise levels can be a problem at night so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Easy walk to Malecon and even walkable to romantic zone if not too hot. If you need the resort experience this is not for you, but for a safe and comfortable vacation in a great area with loads of things to see and do the Mocali is for you and we'll leave the lights on.
Budget hotel/great location/clean rooms/nice staff....short walk to Malecon or beach...street rooms are the best if you want to see whats happening...some rooms can even see the ocean....how much do you need to know/budget hotel in a great location..finally have enough characters and getting grouchy
This hotel is in the heart of the central district. It is well maintained, clean, extremely friendly (although the English at the front desk is little to none), and comfortable. The rooms have balconies, AC and cable TV. There is also fairly reliable WiFi. Pound for pound, this a GREAT value. I will defiantly come back. They also have off street parking and complimentary hot breakfast that is very tasty!
This was a pleasant surprise, I booked a last minute hotel as I only needed to stay one night for a quick layover, I have stayed in Puerto Vallarta over 30 nights in the past few years so I know the area well. This hotel is definitely the cleanest hotel I have stayed at, everything is spotless. The hotel condition is good, its not an old place so its decent, the hotel does not have an elevator and the rooms are small, however the beds are comfortable, the linens clean the bath towels in good shape and thick, the bathroom is small but spotless and there are no odors etc.. the paint on the walls is fresh and clean, the TV is small but thats fine, the wifi works great in the room and the AC is powerful. the room also has a ceiling fan. The lobby has a small business center with conference table and a vending machine, even though the hotel is not on the beach, if you walk three blocks straight towards the beach you will come to the best area of Puerto Vallarta for a beach, the beach in this area has a lot of rocks but this stretch only has sand so it makes it great, The property is 15 mins from the airport so take a cab and the fare is about 160 pesos if not an airport taxi, there are lots of restaurants within 2 to 3 blocks from this hotel and shopping areas. The price of this hotel is great and a good value for what you get. Service is limited to the reception people which are gracious and helpful. For families on a budget this is a quiet, safe neighborhood with close proximity to the beach and would make a great little hotel, couples and retired folks also would enjoy. Again this is not a resort hotel but a clean, simple and practical local hotel.
Hotel is very convenient to old town area, Playa Camarones and busses. Nice reception area and staff, free breakfast of fruit, coffee & today and rooms are clean. The above positives are offset some by the noise both inside and outside the hotel. Our room was the cheapest and was small and the "window" looked out onto the stairs. Others have balconies and outside views. Overall we liked the hotel for the convenience and great price.
We were on a very tight schedule for our Puerto Vallarta trip. We had so much to do that we knew we were barely going to be able to spend a lot of time in the hotel. Our friends had stayed at Mocali and had recommended it. The hotel doesn't have a lot of frills and fancy, however it has everything for a traveller who needs a restful night, good comfortable bed, nice AC, good shower and a minimal yet nice breakfast and it is free! It is not on the beachfront and is at a little distance from the Malecon boardwalk. However, we didn't mind the walk as we enjoyed the little restaurants and souvenir shops on the street. Highly recommended if you are not seeking an all-inclusive resort.
