Terrible experience in this hotel. Just not worth the hassle. Over prized. No water, no power switches work and the hot water goes in and out. Staff tried to help. Loud, not piece full.
This is a great hotel if you're going to Old San Juan for the experience. It is small, buthe perfect rate and room for a couple of nights sleep. Would stay again for sure.
This is a quaint little hotel located in the heart of Old San Juan. This is a very old building, which I thought made it really neat, especially the old elevator! The rooms are adequate, but we were hardly in them. There was air conditioning which was essential. The hotel and rooms are in desperate need of cosmetic repairs, but I think for the price, location, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, it was definitely a great value. I felt completely safe and comfortable there. I would definitely recommend!
Was dark and dingy!! Come back late one evening and had no towels!!! No amenities!! Nothing worked in the vending room!! No coffee or anything else!!! Ice machine didn't work on our 3rd floor. Had to walk down 3 floors for ice!!! Not good!!! :'(
Keys didn't work every time we went to our room. We had to go up and down 3 sets of stairs to get new ones that sometimes didn't work . The Internet only worked poorly in the lobby. It was old and in need of repair. For the price of the hotel there is much better around Old San Juan. Very noisy. We had a King bed room facing the street. The shutters didn't open and close properly and let in all the street noise. There was no clock in the room but fortunately at 6 AM every day someone would start throwing garbage into a recycling bin that banged and clanged for an hour. Very hard to sleep.... It rained during our stay but we were afraid to spend time in the room because it was grubby. Dust bunnies under the couch and bed. If you are considering this hotel, DON'T!!
I have worked in the hospitaly industry for over 10 years including restaurants and hotels: I booked 3 nights there for my birthday and was moved to 3 different rooms. Every single room had something broken whether it was the hot water not working, air conditioner not working, tv extremely fuzzy, holes in the walls and over shower, safe in room doesn't work, etc. The location of the hotel is the only great thing about it. It's in the dead center of Old San Juan. We could walk to restaurants, the Fort, explore the town on foot. But that was the only good thing about it. Some of the staff really did try to help and some (particularly the woman that orginally checked me in) need to check their attitude at the door. When a customer doesnt have any hot water and she's about to be moved to her third room in 2 days the manager should step up and speak to me. Try to make the rest of my visit nice. Never met the manager. If it wasn't for the fact that my trip was so short and waste more time being to be moved to a 4th room with most likely the same problems, I would've insisted on a refund and gone somewhere else. I will never never again stay at this hotel.
Its a great place to stay and its near every nice place to visit at Viejo San Juan. The staff its very kind. The Rooms are very clean and comfortable.
It was a decent stay Hotel rooms were a little crappy but a good price point and great location.
The room was smaller than it looked in the picture, but it was just right for the two of us.
I had a very small room with no window. Bed was a single bed, small. Comfortable enough. Room was clean, and large furnishings made it look even smaller. Staff was extremely helpful, and the new cafe "Melt" was good for a quick breakfast. Wi-Fi good in lobby, but weak in the room. Good for the price.
A beautiful quaint old hotel, but just that...old. I recommend this hotel but only for certain people who are not looking for any luxuries. If what you are looking for is just a place to crash in a perfect location with friendly service for a reasonable fee, then the Hotel Plaza de Armas is for you. Otherwise, if you would be upset by things such as tv remote not working, shower not very warm, clock radio/alarm not working, no iron in room, etc...then don't stay here. When I asked for an iron they brought me a leaking steam iron and mini ironing board that could only next be used on the bed. However staff was very friendly and helpful when I needed some personal help.
Beautiful old building right on a beautiful central plaza. The room was fit for a nun or monk. But I expected that.
The hotel is not good for nothing.. the floors are dirty and broken, the room smelled weird, towels were old and the shower doesn' t work properly .Wifi service does not exist at all in my room including my phone service was cut. The elevator slow and sometimes the hotel staff recommended take the stairs for fear that it can locked. Good location but ver bad hotel...a scam.
The best location! You can walk to restaurants and shops. Close to waterfront. Staff at front desk very helpful in recommending restaurants, etc. Had room with balcony, overlooking street-very nice! Would stay here again for pre cruise night!
it was ok for the price. great location. Just what we needed as a transition before our cruise departure
This was ideal for staying in the old district. Staff were helpful with directions. Busses stop very close outside.
The staff was terrific. They took amble time addressing every question that I had. The location is absolutely awesome. The hotel is near so many places in Old San Juan. I can't express the value of its location enough. My bedroom layout was awkward but it was clean, which is most important. I did not have access to WiFi in my bedroom. I had to access it outside my room. The television was very difficult to use. It was the cable service that actually made it very difficult to use. The hotel's highest mark is its location. Overall hotel room comfort is fair so plan to spend more time enjoying its surroundings in Old San Juan and less time in this hotel.
This hotel was meant as a stopover, before a flight to Vieques. It wasn't supposed to be fancy. It was supposed to be convenient, inexpensive, and comfortable. It was all of those things. If I flew to Puerto Rico with the hopes of luxury, this is not the place. But if I wanted to go to Puerto Rico, be near the sites, and get value for my money, this can be the place. It was comfortable. The AC was good. The service was friendly. It could be homebase for a great vacation.
It's in a great location in Old San Juan, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. A great place to stay if you want to explore San Juan and the rest of Puerto Rico
It was a 2 day stay over before a cruise. It was real nice.
