The staff had horrible customer service and hardly anyone spoke English. The rooms were outdated and the bed was hard as the floor. Everything looked dirty. The food was the same everyday and catered to the Hispanic mostly. The pool was dirty. We had a horrible experience all around.

Everything was perfect the food was great the service and staff no complaint at all defenitly I'll go many time more

Our trip was nice. The staff and food were great. Rooms needed updating but were clean. The beach was clean but the vendors waking around got to be a little to much at times. I would go back again.

the resort was very nice, clean and the staff was awesomne to say the least. there are a lot of activities to do on and off the resort. the beach the you can access at the resort is very nice. the drink service is quick.

From the moment I arrived there were issues. The toilet wasn't flushing so I had to call the front desk to send a plumber. They never offered to switch my room. I had to make reservations from some restaurants the day before and others the same day. The worst....The maid cleaned my room and left my door unlocked while I was spending the day at a tour. I reported this and all they did was wave the $7.50 fee for my safe...which quite honestly didn't make up for the inconvenience.

my husband and I went in October and loved it! it was quiet and romantic. my only complaint was that some of the bar and restaurant staff were a little rude. but besides that. we had a great time!!!

Barcelo was the perfect location for a few days of relaxation, fun and a tropical escape! The staff was friendly, the food was great, the activities were tons of fun and I will def recommend it as a stay when visiting puerto plata!

Service was slow overall and most requests got messed up, even though my wife is from the DR. Had a premium club room that was not premium. Clubs section was run down and services were not good. No value In premium. refridgerator broken in room and never repaired. Bathroom was big, but rundown Food was forgettable and produced for the masses. The japanese Ala-carte restaurant looked nice but service was terrible and food not too good Go there, but get the cheapest room you can.

The hotel is a beatiful well maintenance place, the pool and the show were very excited; I enjoyed my family summer vacations. They should improve the food ( same everyday), also the drinks ( very low quality ).

I personally went for a wedding at the beach which was pretty good. The staff was very attentive to all of the details of the wedding which was good. The food on the other hand could have been a little better. It was edible but sometimes it just tasted bland. The pool is excellent in the morning when most of the visitors are still asleep. The shows at night have variety from night to night and you have a chance to win a few things if you are bold enough to participate in the pre-show event. All in all, it was a excellent stay.

Overall 75% Food is acceptable, Room interiors is clean , l dont any complaint .because l got low price of two people , l am agree that 's how much l pay and what l get ?Everything is good , but it is cant compare to 5 stars resort , it is average ....

good hotel, close to the beach, but to far fron the parking yard.

Unfriendly & understaffed personell from the front desk to beachfront you feel like an intruder rather then a valued guest For example, our group of 4 adults were confronted and made uncomfortable and then punished with little service at the Italian restaurant for arriving late and then were denied coffee & desert while suffering through inattention for as much of a delay the staff was directed to impose on us by manager

We did the premium package and it was nothing special. Too expensive for what you got. Would have enjoyed it more if we had done standard package and NOT spent the extra money for the premium.

Cool room on the end with backyard palm garden privacy and quiet. Yet close in to pool, restaurants and show. We got married in Santiago and came to Barcelo for our honeymoon, quite a big adjustment in cultural difference between bride and groom. Groom is American from Seattle and bride Dominicana from Santiago so we were basically adjusting to how to be a married couple. Special experience. The only negative comments I need to make is very crowded and challenging to find two chairs together by pool or on beach, it felt crowded but everything worked out fine.

The rooms are old. Need updating. The food is just ok. Not a big selection of food. I have been to other resorts that give you a great selection. The pool area and staff are good. The staff do a really good job entertaining. The front desk be aware they are very rude and have no smiles on there face. Be very careful with towels they make sure to count them very well as if they are new towels. Very old. We had ask for wash clothes from our cleaning lady, she responded I will have to ask for them as they don't normally put them in the bathrooms. Ok so at night when we returned to our room, we checked for them we never got them. We decided not to ask again. At check out they ask us where were the wash clothes. That we never got. We told the front desk. We never received them. He stated we needed to pay for them. We waited about 30 min. for the main manager to come. Had to explain the whole story again. She finally check us out without having to pay for the towels we never received. Just to say I will not be returning back to this Hotel.

It was my first time there and I loved it, the staff was so pleasant.

awesome love the hotel i will come back for my next vacations

we arrived with a group of 10 and they put 8 in one building and us in the other. I asked to be moved like my one friend did and was rudely told no. the rest of the staff is awesome but the front desk people must think they are gods. night one security called repeatedly due to the bloody screaming at 2:30 by a group of Jersey girls coming back from the disco. went on for 20 minutes, then started up again a half hour later...we asked again to be moved to the other part of the hotel and were refused. next night another drunken group fighting and yelling at 1:30...security comes again next night the disco closes and about 15 people are drunk off their butts and decide to scream at the tops of their lungs while diving in to the pool outside our room,,pool closed at 6pm... security again... its not that I dont drink because I do and their bars are awesome but when you know the disco is closing why the heck don't you have security in place on the path from the beach to the rooms. we were just lucky that we were on that path and they put most of the drunken louts in our building. these people love to scream and scream all night ... the bartenders are great once you tip them, they know what you drink and have it ready. the activities at the pool were fun, the buffet was large but after 6 days was monotonous . we ate at almost every restaurant on the grounds and most were good. a few great a few bland.. the view at the beach is awesome, the pool clean.

Room wasn't clean enough roaches in the bathroom I took a picture I call front desk and the dindt do anything also no free wifi so my girls complain about how cheap a discussing was very bad experience food was delicious also no parking space for my car
