What a fantastic spot.
The jungle cabin at Playa Lapa is a very simple one room cabin with a gas two burner stove top a teapot to heat water for the melitta pour over coffee maker. Two color showers are provided, just fill them in the morning, lay them in the sun and you’ll have a nice warm shower. However, the tepid water direct from the shower head feels amazing when you are hot from being at the beach or hiking through the jungle. The beach is amazing and sunsets are spectacular. Loved listening to the howler monkeys even though they stayed hidden from view. Capuchin and spider monkeys are all around along with lots of macaws. Helene recommended Luis as a guide for Corcovado National Park, he was awesome. Beto the caretaker is wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. Only thing that would have made it a little better was a larger fan as the nights were hot and sticky and the little clip on fan didn’t provide much air movement. I hope to return soon.

Piece of paradise
This property is absolutely beautiful and remote! We stayed in the casita mono because it was just my husband and myself. Very sweet place with everything you need for hanging out and cooking. It’s tucked in a little jungle area of the property about a minute’s walk to the beach. Macaws flying over all day and listening to monkeys in the morning is so fun. Helene is an awesome host for communication and for sharing all information you need for enjoying your stay there! Beto and Yolanda I have to say are amazing. We read all the good things about them in the reviews for the house and it is even more so. Beto is just so sweet and helpful and we really enjoyed talking to him in our broken Spanish. Highly recommend taking a kayaking tour with him in the lagoon. One of the highlights of our trip so far! We just cooked our own meals but when we come back we figure we better see if Yolanda will cook us dinner there as that is an option. I’m sure the food is fabulous, as the reviews post. And would be fun to hang out with them more. I highly recommend this place not only for what it is but also for the caretakers and owner! Thank you Helene! Fabulous job.

Well-Equipped Casita on The Best Property in Carate, Swarmed with Blue Morphos!!
We love it here! We've stayed at the Casita before and many details were upgraded since we last stayed. It's a short walk to the most stunning beach and in the mornings there are multiple blue Morphos and hummingbirds flying all through the trees just outside the casita. The kitchen is well equipped and the fridge is a good size to hold a load of groceries from town. Beto the caretaker and his wife Yolanda are awesome! We had only one issue during our stay and Helene more than made up for it. We couldn't be happier, we will return to Casita Mono again and again. Its the perfect spot to see this beautiful part of Costa Rica and a great launching point for Corocovado. This is where you want to be in Carate!

Wonderful little rainforest retreat
Casito Mono is a delightful little retreat at the end of the road. Perfect for disconnecting from the world and animal watching. We had our dinners prepared for us by the sweet woman next door and it was fantastic. We enjoyed our stay and are still talking about the great memories we made there.

Everything you need in the most beautiful place in the world.
Casita Mono was surrounded by birds and butterflies, banana trees and monkeys. We were cool and bug free indoors, and just outdoors was amazing. Beto is amazing, takes care of whatever you need, he brought us fresh coconuts and a machete to cut them which was amazing. The property is the most idyllic place I've stayed in Costa Rica, definitely book it!

Bel accueil mais manque d organisation
Aucune épicerie et restaurant priche. Le refrigerateur ne fonctionnait pas. Comment voulez vous qu on se nourisse? Problème électrique.
