We had a great stay! It was the least expensive room in downtown and we had the coolest room that was tucked away at the top of the stairs.

Convenient location – good breakfast nice staff always able to please- elevators need to be fixed

This was a very nice historic hotel in downtown Portsmouth. It looks like the hotel and rooms have been recently updated. The only reasons I didn't give it an overall "Excellent" rating is because the food was not great and the doorway to the rooms did not create a seal so there was bright light coming into my room all night. Other than that it was very clean, the fitness room was nice and had ample equipment, and it is within walking distance to many things downtown. I would stay there again.

Staff was super nice and helpful. Hotel and room was very clean. Would stay here again

Beds very comfortable. Friendly staff. Nice lobby bar.

My family had a wonderful time! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

i love downtown Portsmouth! and was force to take vacation! right downtown access to all the shops! near bus stop!

Hotel was very clean with friendly staff. When we first arrived they had us in a room that was under construction but was able to switch us right away. Great views and location!

room walls are paper thin, FOOD JUST OK, LOCATION OK EXCEPT FOR THE MOUNDS OF SAND FACING YOUR VIEW

This hotel was great! Love the location - walking distance to all the shops and restaurants downtown! Staff made it so easy - provided maps and suggestions to places in town. I'd recommend it to anyone!

The front desk and valet service were very friendly. We went searching hotel for they " restaurant and tavern"... Literally could find nothing remotely resembling a restaurant. Asked a young man working at hotel who looked at us, laughed, and said... I don't know.. Maybe up there? Very bad set up. Pretty view from the area they designate ( really odd ) but pretty view. Comfy couch we had a drink on.. Beds Comfy... L

Booked what I thought was the best hotel available in the area for a impromptu romantic get away. Room was probably the smallest I have ever stayed in. Curtains wouldn't fully close so we were up with the sun. Shower drain was clogged. 1 coffee packet, old curdled creamer and one packet of sugar in room. Must say staff was excellent. Alex recommended a fun restaurant and called ahead for availability. Concierge at check out was legitimately interested in our criticisms. Valet actually lost our car for 40 min! Gave ticket, then they scrambled and had no idea where the car was! Asked three times what car, told them BMW Z-3, still couldn't find it. ( Ferris Bueller anyone?). Accepted a free breakfast for the hassle. ticket, then they scrambled and had no idea where the car was! Asked three times what car, told them BMW Z-3, still couldn't find it. When we arrived, we received a warm greeting from the desk clerk. He was very friendly an attentive to our needs. He mentioned that it was 'restaurant week' and that it was worth taking advantage of. He was very helpful in answering our questions. The room was comfortable and the lounge was perfectly situated with great views of the river. The hotel is located within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the Rep Theater. This is certainly a hotel that I'd stay at again.

Room was clean, staff was nice, and location is perfect, but as a hotel that is often priced in the $300 range it seemed a bit ordinary. I'm not sure what makes this a 4 star hotel vs. a 3 star since the nearby 3 star hotel has nicer, newer, rooms. They are currently undergoing some renovations of some sort so it's possible the rooms and decor are being updated. I want to be clear that it was a nice, clean, friendly, excellently located hotel, and for around $100 it was a fantastic deal. They also have an amazingly generous pet policy. It's just that we would have been disappointed if we had paid the $300 price that was listed the week before we finally made our reservation.

It was short but to the point. Very nice staff, good for a quick stay.

Loved the convenience and really comfy bed. Front desk staff was super friendly and accommodating. We have stayed here before and will be back.

Its a nice clean place. the beds are big and white and comfortable. great location.

I've stayed here before a year or two ago, so when I needed a place for a weekend stay, I chose the Sheraton again. The hotel is large, clean and very classy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Compared to other hotels in the area, namely the Alehouse Inn, you get a pool and sauna so your money may go further here.

The food was extraordinary, the front desk woman was helpful, the club workers were a bit off, the evening person had no idea on drink pricing or anything, the morning person made you feel like you didn't belong. Even though the website says the club stops serving breakfast at 11 it's actually 10. My husband went to get another muffin later in the morning and it was all cleaned up. The rooms were okay, they use Daylight light bulbs which makes the lighting horrible. The space between the bed and the extra long desk was tight, the desk was much too big for the room. There was a nice high back chair to sit in which was nice. The sauna was broken and they don't have a hot tub. It was great in some areas but very lacking in others.

My boyfriend and I went away for the night. Our room was clean and comfortable, as was the whole hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The girl at the desk suggested the oar house for dinner, which was in walking distance(right downtown) and was fabulous. I can't say enough about the food. The next morning we ate at the friendly toast that was fabulous and fun. Overall, we had a great experience!
