The hotel is a throw back to the 70's. It is not a 4 star. The decor was poor. On the floor a red carpet that looked very dirty. Could not take my shoes off in the bedroom. Checking in the AC did not work in room 601. There were also mold in the bathroom and a moldy smell. Changed for room 501 that still had mold in the bathroom. The hotel is not downtown Porto. You could not walk anywhere. You had to take a bus or a cab. Dining room was very small and in a weird configuration. On the lobby... all the sofas and chairs were made out of a look like suede material. All of them completely filthy !! Needed some TLC asap. ! The hotel had a swimming pool. They would not let you use it unless you will buy a shower cap. Very strange ! Staff was nice and friendly and the breakfast was very good. !!
Very clean hotel and had some nice restaurants near by! Excellent bakery very close and grocery store! We enjoyed going to a place that was like a cafeteria with excellent food for good price in walking distance! The only issue we had with the hotel was it took awhile to get hot water! Our stay came with buffet breakfast and it wasn't bad! Now this hotel is about 10 minute drive to the centre of Porto! Enjoyed this city very much! Lots to do! Be prepared to do a lot of walking!
Stayed here 17/18 June 17,having booked with Mail Travel/Jetline Holidays Lisbon/Porto two centre 4 star should have reviewed hotels properly on Trip Advisor! On arrival noticed that hotel letters were missing from frontage were missing, not a good start! Shower not providing any hot water after arriving hot and sweaty mid afternoon. Location is a long way from city 30 euros in taxi from airport, however you can get a bus into city ,cheap at E3.30 each way. Beds are very uncomfortable and you roll into the middle however they are clean.Dining room for breakfast too small having to wait for table and not enough staff on duty to clear tables/replenish food. Good points:staff friendly and helpful, aircon in rooms works ok,breakfast food ok. This hotel will not provide a 4 star experience until investment in facilities so be warned!
The hotel is quite away out of the centre and the bus runs only every 15 minutes. The staff were rather dour and the hotel itself very dated and in need of an overhaul. Our room had damp patches on the outside wall and a lovely view into a rather derelict block of flats at the back of the building. We asked for tea making facilities ,I.e. a kettle and we're told only the rooms in the upper floors could have one! Breakfast was OK but they often ran out of things and took ages to replenish stock. Reception only had one person working at a time and when coach loads arrived it was impossible! Pay more if necessary and head for the centre of town!
This is a 4 star in all the sense of the word... sure the facilities and building itself is bit outdated, but for the price you pay to stay here, I rather compromise that than the comfort. The staff are all very genuine, kind and eager to help as much as they can. You wont find the typical pretentious bell-boy or concierge aiming for nothing else but a large tip, like you'd find in big chain hotels. Yet again, I rather have this familiar feeling as a walk into a hotel than a all-polished-marble-imitation where no staff truly cares about you. In regards to some of the reviews here, I will never understand how most people always look for a cheaper deal and then complain about the service they get... you get what you pay for, as simple as that!
The hotel was a big surprise to us as we didn't expect it to be so good. The staff was really helpful and polite, the rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast was of good quality. There was a bus station just opposite the hotel (10 min. to the city centre). The only drawback was that the fridge in the room didn't work so we couldn't have cold water. We highly recommend it. It was good value for money.
Stayed in this hotel for a few days for business. The hotel seems to have 4 stars, although I don't understand how they got it. My guess is that it got immediately 4 stars when it was opened by Frank Sinatra in 1960. Staff seems to have an uninterested mentality. Breakfast was included, although this can not really be called something positive. Relatively small are full with people. Room was very basic, outdated, and noisy (from the street and neighbouring rooms). To conclude: avoid this one.
Convenient amenities, like computer with internet. Friendly and helpful staff, like Andre C. Public bus across street. Comodidades convenientes, como computador con internet. Empleados amables y serviciales, como Andre C. Bus publico cruzando la calle.
very old communistic hotel, is definitely not 4 stars, the rooms are basic, no mini bar, no places to eat around the hotel, when I tried to contact the reception before arrival none answered the phone...complete disaster
Hotel was simple, but comfortable. It looked oldstylish ,really needs some changes. However staff was friendly and helping. The room looked simple, but it was spacious and confortable enough for two persons. It was very clean when we came and every day we found it clean. Wifi was working very good in the room. The only annoying thing was we coulnd't charge our mobiles near the bed. Dining room looked more modern, nice to have breakfast. Breakfast was really good, even I could try different types of Portuguese cakes. Spa was basic, but good place to relax after all day walking. There are few bus stops around the hotel. It was no problem to go to city center by bus or even take a taxi (in the night costs about 7 euros). The only problem we had the first day: it was no hot water in the morning, then in the evening happened the same. So we had to take an icy shower. They explained us that on weekend they had a big group of people so it was no water left...Next days all was ok.
