We stayed here on our way to the coast. A very nice, clean and friendly-staffed hotel that meets our budget needs. The rooms are spacious enough for the three of us despite the lack of a varied program on their cable network, but who's here for the tv, right. It's Brazil......and the breakfast is absolutely amazing and yes, varied. Lots to choose from
They promise a fully equipped kitchen on the website but what you get is a microwave and a mini fridge. We also found one small coffee cup. The staff at reception only speak Portuguese but they were able to provide us with some plates and glasses. Great breakfast and big rooms.
Arrived on an early bus from Uruguay and they happily allowed us to check in at 8.30am. Which was great as I didn't get a wink of sleep so the comfortable bed & block out curtains helped me nap for a bit. Information listed in Portuguese & English in the room which was helpful. Great TV channels with English movies. Best breakfast so far in two months of travelling in South America. Downside was kitchen was ill equipped and plastic disposable cups provided!!
The Harbor Hotel Regency Suites provided a quiet haven in downtown Porto Alegre. It provided a comfortable, affordable, and pleasant stay. Although some things were a little quirky (like the exercise room and air conditioning), the staff was very helpful and friendly. Several spoke English well, too. Tasty breakfasts and help with calling taxi cabs made my stay even better!
Stayed here for a few nights & needed a place that was downtown/easy transport to other areas within the city. Perfect for what I needed but wasn't anything memorable to be honest. The power in my room was out when I first got there which was weird, but was fixed within a few hours. I'd suggest trying for a higher up room as it can get loud with the city noises. The staff was very friendly although communication was a little difficult as I don't speak much Portuguese but we worked it out!
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful. The only problem was with communication. If you go to Brazil - take your dictionary.... English is not spoken! Choose rooms away from the street front.
This is a good value for money hotel. It is in the historical district of Porto Alegre, very close to Mercado Publico, with numerous stores close by, close to central road with bus stops for the north part of town, with a taxi stand in 100m. Breakfast was good, with fresh fruit and warm choices. Reception had difficulty in communicating in English, apart from the one lady who was really good and polite. The small kitchen with coffee making facilities (and extra sitting space) is useful if you spend more time in the room. Wi-fi was not working properly in our room during all five days and nobody seemed to care enough to solve the problem (apart from the lady at reception who actually solved it after we had complained to four different employees). At night this part of town is not very safe and is completely dead.
Great and attentive service from the hotel personnel but otherwise an overall bad hotel. It is located in an Ok area in the center of town. Rooms are outdated and small. You have to pray for 20 minutes until you can get hot water flowing from the shower. WiFi connection totally messed up. Although, this an epidemic among Brazil hotels. The room was poorly kept and clean. My window was so dirty that I took it upon myself to clean it. The result you can see in the attached photo. This was all the dirt I collected from the window. It gives you an idea of how well clean this hotel is. I will never go back.
I chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. This is not luxury. This is a reasonable hotel in a good location, walking distance to the central market, grocery store nearby, very good breakfast, reasonable value for the price. Breakfast was so much better than most hotel breakfast meals I have experienced: fresh fruits (replenished throughout the service), yogurts, cereals, scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheeses, coffee, juice, and plenty of sweets. The hotel staff was friendly and thorough and when language was a problem, we found ways around that. The rooms were good, though there are several with mold. It's a humid city and when I asked to move some of our students, they readily complied. The wifi is spotty, but it was usable most of the time. I feel the value of the hotel is good based on its breakfast, location, and very helpful staff. We had quite a nice experience and appreciate their care.
Centrally located in walking distance to restaurants and food halls. Close to supermarket if you need anything. Breakfast ok. Rooms reasonable but nothing like 3 star. Get a balcony room to overlook nothing.
