Rodeway Inn Convention Center

Recent guest reviews

We booked this hotel last minute, and it's conveniently right near the convention center. The outside of the hotel is not impressive, but the room was pretty nice with updated furnishings and clean.

One may think this is a decent place because its name has "convention center" and sounds business oriented. The price is similar to other decent hotels too. BUT, the facility and service are among the worst even compared to the budget motels. The mattress sags and you can't sleep well. The room is dark with filthy carpet. The free breakfast is even less than continental, no bread, just some super cheap pastry and I ended up having to go to nearby McDonald to grab a breakfast.

We had to be in Portland to go to the Samaritan Eye Clinic. This is the closest hotel we have found. It was old, but clean. Nothing special. Shower had lots of hot water and good water pressure. Bed was comfortable. No problem with parking

drain was perpetually clogged had to buy my own drano

Great location in proxy to the stadium, if you're looking to actually have a comfortable stay I'd look elsewhere. Bed is hard, rooms are stale but I guess for the price you can't expect much.

Super great loads of fun nice cable sheets clean shower worked soap coffee air conditioning carpet free danish clean parking lot etc...

The room was clean and tidy. It was reasonably quiet with only faint traffic noise which is expected on a busy street near downtown. The staff, on checking in and out, were friendly and courteous.

The good: 1. Hotel is right in front of the rail car which takes you downtown. 2. It was the cheapest somewhat decent we could find last minute. 3. Our king bed room was spacious, seemed clean and decent, microwave & fridge and a table with chairs. The bad: 1. Hotel is old and worn down, definitely could use work. 2. Old fashioned tv. And no pool. 3. It's in a isolated part of city and on your way back to the hotel the closest the rail car drops you off is about 3 blocks away, so if you return to your room late in the evening it's pretty creepy with slot of questionable characters around. I would not feel safe with children. 4. No complimentary breakfast. 5. They put a $50.00 hold on your card upon check-in aside from your room rate for "incidental".

We've been here before with friends. It's in a great location to quickly jump on TriMet . It's right across from the convention center. The rooms are a little dated, but the bathrooms are clean. There's no hair dryers in the rooms, but they have some for use from the office. Their continental breakfast is coffee, juice & a swee roll.

Good distance to all transpo and downtown, nice staff

Needed a place to stay and that's what I got. Not a bad place but not ready to go nack

I picked this place mainly because of the location and that I though it was pet friendly. The beds are extremely hard. The TV is circa '80's and the furnishing from the '70's. The bathroom was some what clean and had hot water. Oh, the towels were the softest I have ever had in a hotel. If you are there during a Trailblazers game then don't give up your parking spot. You will not find a parking spot within 1 mile (I am not kidding). The managers do not TB fans from parking in the hotel lot.

Overall, my experience was okay. No specific problems. I was surprised, though, that the motel was as small as it was, and that it was surrounded by warehouses. The Rose Quarter (Blazer's stadium) is just across the street, so for someone wanting to see a game or other event, this place would be convenient. Another convenience is that it is right on Portland's CL streetcar line. It goes to OMSI in one direction and PSU in the other, with access to downtown Portland and easy connections to the MAX trains and other streetcars. As my title suggests: utilitarian.

A nice hotel this is not. It is, however, a clean and comfortable place that's within walking distance of the Pearl neighborhood, the convention center and the riverwalk, and that costs a quarter of what it would cost you to stay in downtown proper. Overall, a good deal.

Kind, welcoming manager was efficient and very helpful. A great place to stay, close to train station.

It was a good place to stay for a cheap price and close to where we needed to be.

Horrible. We would not recommend this place at all. We will never stay at Econo Lodge ever again!! We booked a NON-SMOKING ROOM, but they only had a SMOKING ROOM available when we had a late check in at 9 pm. I'm pregnant and told the front desk that I booked a Non-Smoking Room and he argued that we booked a Smoking Room. He said that he had spray for us to use and that we can smoke in the room. Who would tell a pregnant woman that they can smoke in the room? The shower alternated between a drizzle of lukewarm and cold water. The breakfast was coffee and some packaged pastries. It was horrible and I'm glad that we only booked for 1 night! I will never stay in an Econo Lodge again. I highly recommend spending more money to stay in a better hotel.

so so

The Econo Lodge Cocnvention Center is a small hotel and within walking distance to the Rose Garden. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Parking is free to hotel guests and the staff has always been very friendly and welcoming. We always try to stay here when we go to Portland for our business meetings.
