First room was extremely small and bed was hard. They moved us to a new room which was bigger and bed was softer but it shared a wall with the nightly entertainment stage so we heard the loud music until after the show. Not ideal for older people.

Buffet food was bad. We went out everyday to eat a good meal. Service at the restaurants was slow. It took an hour to get our food. The staff gave better service to the people that were wearing a black bracelet. We paid money too. I don't recommend this place.

This resort was a major disappointment. Unless you’re a Black Band VIP, expect second-class treatment from the start. I booked an ocean-view king room through Expedia and was given two queen beds facing nothing but palm trees. The front desk refused to honor my reservation. There are no elevators, the pool closes at 8pm, and the shower drained terribly. The food was mediocre, and only two staff members showed any friendliness; the rest seemed irritated. You’re also not allowed to take buffet food to your room, which is ridiculous. The drinks were some of the worst I’ve had—no premium liquor, watered-down cocktails, and even the non-alcoholic drinks tasted bad. Entertainment was cheesy, and although the bar stays open until 2am, you’re expected to stay quiet or get told off. Most guests were seniors, making the atmosphere dull. You only get one pool towel per day, and the resort feels outdated. Workers were scrubbing tiles in the pool and jacuzzi while people were still in the water. There are no bottled waters, only dispensers, and no ice machines—you have to go to the bar for everything. And unless you’re VIP, forget about poolside drink service. My group will never return, and I wouldn’t recommend this resort to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its guests.

The staff is very attentive and friendly. The resort is spotless. Beach sitting area is spacious with a ton of beach chairs. Food is ok, but par for the area resorts. Like the fact that reservations are not needed for the specialty restaurants. Will be returning again. Shout out to the entertainment staff and Louis the pool bartender.

This resort is absolutely wonderful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Everything is very clean. The A/C works great and the beds are very comfortable! Bring a water jug because they don’t use water bottles. They have filtered water dispensers all over. We had no issues with the water. Everything is quick and easy to get to, from the front desk to the beach, it’s a short walk. The pool bar is open 24 hours a day which was nice!! The food was excellent! The breakfast buffet left a little to be desired but the lunch buffet and pool snack bar made up for it. The ocean was incredibly beautiful with lots of activities. The nightly shows were great. The only “downfall” is no drinking in the pool. Their sister resort Viva Maya is a short walk down the road or beach and they have a swim up bar. I highly recommend this resort and look forward to going back next year!! (This is the first time I have ever said that about a resort in my 20 years of traveling to Playa del Carmen!!)

It was hard to figure out when and where activities were, for example cooking classes, because the app did not have locations and often incorrect times. Activities also did not have descriptions.

The food went from awful to really descent in 24 hrs. Rooms with strong humidity and plumbing issues in the shower and vanity.
