the property was beautiful, check in was a mess but not Orbitz fault...the first part of trip was through another travel agent. The second part of trip was through Orbitz, the hotel did not receive payment for the first three days, and did not combine the reservations so we could stay in same beach front walk out room which was available the first three days, and they moved us to a master suite looking over the pools and ocean. The hotel did not have hot water for three days of our stay. But we were not the only travelers that this happened to, many were told their stay was not paid?? it was a mess The staff was amazing, staying calm through this, I have no desire to go back to Playa del Carmen

Our stay was great but when we arrived we were told that I didn't have the same room booked so we upgraded which cost us a $100 a night. Apparently there is a sale in place and the data was lost so many people didn't have their reservation when they arrived. I felt sorry for the people working there because they were doing there best. Beautiful hotel and the staff was amazing. Felt like to much of my vacation was spent on checking to see where everything stood.

The resort was spectacular top to bottom. Buffet and each a la carte restaurants were all very very good. Staff were second to none and would eventually graciously accept tips or trinkets. Tips were not expected and spme staff even said no tobtips at the beginning but they did an amazing job. The other side of the coin: it took a little bit to check in sometimes only 1 or 2 people working the counter and guests arriving/leaving all the time. There is always the upsell at check in as well. Highly recomend the relaxation massage about 45min of hydrotherapy ( sauna, cold plunge, steam room then jacuzzi) then 50min med pressure massage. After a travel day it was spectacular. Other downside was bars ran 11am to 11pm so no bailys for coffee (or if you rememmber get it night before). Also just as it was cooling down and a nice breeze was coming off the ocean and you wanted to have a few drinks at the Gazebo Bar they were closed. Was not rowdy, did not feel packed or too busy and had a boutique vibe. Nice layout and easy to get everywhere. Also huge plus was 10min walk to 5th Ave with a mall and vendors or excursions everything was along there. Had good luck with the MTS group in the resort too for excursions so shop around. Overall excellent resort, great food, fenominal staff and very clean.

Some restaurants were open certain days of the week. To get to 2 restaurants you have to go outside on on the street to get to the entrance. Very inconvenient if you have reservations and it begins to rain-no transport. Standard room with 2 queen beds- the shower is pretty small and not a lot of room to put your shower essentials. A small corner footstool would have been great for shaving legs. Very, very small ironing board. Was expecting some easy access to the beach from hotel directly to the beach - you have to go out of the hotel and walk around the building-meanwhile getting asked about tour purchases.

Staff was lovely and polite. Rooms clean. Pool clean. Pool area smelled like fish and pollution from the sea directly next to us. Seaweed. Unable to even enter sea. Asked 2x on phone 2x in lobby for the vip wine for moms birthday/ never got it and was embarrassed to ask a 6th time. Can’t emphasize how kind all the staff was, they were all so supportive and made my experience better despite this other stuff.

We had a really nice stay at Wyndham Alltra in Playa del Carmen. The hotel was so beautiful and the staff was great and very attentive on our needs. A bit sad that the beach is so rocky and not very accessible, but we were told that it is possible to to just go a bit further down the beach where it is more accessible - we unfortunately didn’t have time to go there. But that’s a minor thing, and I would really recommend staying at the hotel!
