Loved the history of the Powers Mansion. The host was fabulous. It was walkable to shops and restaurants of downtown. I guess the only negative might be the cleanliness. A few cobwebs here and there. The mansion is old so I new some things might be quirky.

We enjoyed our stay. The host is gracious and the breakfast excellent.

It was beautiful and Alfred was wonderful and the breakfast was fantastic. The rooms are REALLY small & we had trouble shutting the bathroom door but it's an old house/hotel so things like that are understandable. It was a short stay but a nice one. It was a little tricky to find the parking lot due to construction but again, that can't be helped.

Room was in need of a deep clean. Somewhat worn out with repairs, repainting and caulking etc. Questionable electrical safety.

Alfred Lee is the Owner and is absolutely the most gracious and personable host we've ever encountered. He is constantly working to improve the accommodations for this charming mansion built back in 1888. Keeping up with the day to day keeps him fully occupied at a job he sincerely loves doing. His friendly and gregarious welcoming personality makes one feel like they are in the care and well being of an old friend. Alfred is also the graduate of a French Culinary School and his breakfast creations are totally awesome. If you want charm and personality, this is the place to stay. Thank you Alfred!

Cleanliness, the wonderful personality of owner Alfred who does everything! What a delicious full breakfast that's included as well. This is not a pretentious place. It was very quiet for a great night's sleep.

Very nice room and comfortable and clean. Close to downtown Auburn and we walked to restaurants and shops. Manager seemed nice, but we did not see him much. We did not get to sample breakfast as it is served after 9am and we are early birds, but it smelled good! Only comment: It would be nice to offer some type of an earlier breakfast, perhaps continental style.

Each room is different. Staff are exceptionally pleasant and helpful. A fun, unique experience indeed!

Great accommodations, location, staff and room. Would go again.

Wonderful location to be able to walk around Auburn. Excellent breakfast. It was nice to find easy parking and the Mansion was delightful. So many different room themes and nice staff.

Excellent! The Owner is an amazing host! House has such amazing history. Warm and comfortable

Wonderful inn keeper. Quirky rooms, but fun! Good breakfast.

My wife and I had a nice, romantic getaway for three days at the Power's Mansion. The place is full of history and very cozy. The room is vintage for sure. The is old. but the room was clean and very comfortable. The owner (Alfred Lee) is the nicest, most accomodating guy you will meet. He loves people and he loves to make them happy. He is a great cook as well. Very good breakfast service. I recommend this place 100%.

Wonderful parlour and dining room. Gorgeous fireplaces and lovely decorative furniture in every room. Great place for people who want to stay somewhere, not just anywhere. Great for overnight stay to see house concerts in Auburn. Lovely and welcoming host. Note: the notes you put in Orbitz don't get sent to the host, so call ahead for needs, checkin and dietary issues for brekkie.

Excellent host. Close to old-town. Good breakfast. There were few guests when we were there mid-week and we had the parlor all to ourselves and Alfred made us a roaring fire. I've read some negative reviews, and yes, if you're used to a pristine and sterile Marriott or Hilton, you may be offput by the eclectic, imperfect, elements of the old inn - but that's what you expect from a historic bead & breakfast. Every room is different, so some are better than others, but they are fun, comfortable, and his prices are reasonable and his hospitality is great. We look forward to staying here again.

We love historic homes, so this was right up our alley. We were able to check in early, as we had a wedding to attend. We were met by Alfred, the host and owner. Alfred had previously called my husband for Check in details, so when we arrived, we were given a tour along the way to our room. The home is full of documented history of previous owners, mining history, and the town of Auburn. Breakfast was AMAZING! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

This place is very cute--a beautiful victorian mansion furnished with lovely antiques. We were there on Thanksgiving,so we didn't get breakfast (the owners were with family), but it was a ver nice stay.
